Okay, some news.

Name it. Aiymi also bought another book that I'm lobbying to send to you instead. Kinda like the last book I anonymously sent you.

Pretty much my entire attitude towards the world:
Headline: Facebook is down, along with Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Oculus VR.
NobodysHome: I'd buy someone a drink, but I somehow suspect it's incompetence over malfeasance.
Get old enough and you realize that there really aren't any global conspiracies out there -- it's just dumb people doing their jobs... poorly.
The subtitle on Ars Technica's article about it: "The root cause of the worldwide outage appears to be a flubbed BGP route update."

Nope; it's a Lenovo. And it hasn't turned on wireless in a while now -- the "fix" almost exactly corresponded to our company changing antivirus vendors. So Microsoft may indeed be off the hook for enabling wireless during updates.
Connecting to wireless preferentially over wired, though? Still doing that.

I used to enjoy having lengthy chats with the Jehovah's when they'd come a'visitin'.
Having a solid sense of Self and Awareness of the belief paths of others makes for a delightful discussion about spirituality from the 'good' Jehovah's and the 'bad' ones rapidly start eyeing the exits...
EDIT: For some reason they just don't come around any more. I wonder why.

I have a friend who is - or at least was at one point. I was enthusiastic to talk to him about it, as he had some interesting-looking materials I wanted to read, but he declined at the time and we never got around to the long-term discussion.
These days I have extremely little patience for or interest in solicitors, even though I used to engage with them as much as possible. I guess I'm on my way to becoming a grumpy old fart. HUZZAH~! Life goal approaching!

EDIT:
(4) I'm also driven to distraction by the sheer unadulterated wastefulness of American society in general. Last night I ordered pizza for the kids. I very clearly stated, "I do not want plates, or silverware, or napkins, or cheese, or peppers. Please bring me nothing except the pizzas."
And the delivery guys can't handle it. Every delivery place automatically delivers all that crap because a handful of people still expect it. And all of it is going in the landfill. Again. We tried saving it for a while "in case we needed it" and ended up with literally several hundred little packets of peppers and cheese. It's depressing that it's nigh impossible to get a delivery outlet to not be wasteful, because some people want their cheese and pepper and paper plates, and will complain bitterly if they don't get them.
This drives me up the flippin' wall. uuuugggghhhh

Fortunately, this is Wisconsin so if I do want to get my wife some underwear and pick up a six pack at the same time I can because there's a specialty booze store in the mall.
But, it's still a little disappointing.

I would request at least a mask and social distancing for a week or a negative test.
If they're true friends, they won't be insulted by the need to take precautions to not get everyone else sick. The good news is the actual risk in your situation seems reasonably low.
I would hedge this by saying, "They might feel hurt, emotionally, and that can cause unpleasant feelings." but at the same time, trying to stay safe and keep your family and friends well isn't unreasonable, and I would encourage you to do what you feel is best, regardless of temporary social impact.

You're Polish. Of course you don't do beaches. That's just asking to be frozen to death in the tundra wasteland. Also you don't live in Kolobrzeg or whatever other coastal city, so.

My next adventure idea (though not really planned in detail) for The L5R Criminal Scene Investigation: The Second City series was a duel (not to the death) that ends in sudden death of one of the duelists a few hours later to a poison. The actual culprit was supposed to be the duelist wife who was bored with her proper husband, took a lover, and hoped that the other duelist would be blamed for the murder...
Sounds fine and simple enough. Except today I have learned that one of the players in the group recently cheated on her husband (whom she married no more than a year ago), and they are likely break up (he is not in the group) as for the last month he lived at my long time friends' place.
If we hadn't failed to schedule the session the last week, I might have run such an adventure, and knowing her, I might possibly end with her having a emotional system shutdown or a serious meltdown during the session.
EDIT: clarified that they are married for about a year, not that she cheated on him for a year... though who can really say?

I've asked this question in a couple of places, so I'll ask here, too!
So, my fellow Pathfinder enthusiasts, here's a weird lore question: how many tails do nogitsune have?
This fox-headed humanoid has a sleek, feminine form that moves with seductive grace. As she steps into a defensive posture, a mass of bushy tails flicks at the air above her back and she reveals teeth flecked with blood.
Bolding mine.
My understanding (which may be wrong) of oni is that they are born oni by evil spirit investing an unborn and transforming it into fiend (the oni). Thus, you could presuppose that a nogitsune would have as many tails as the kitsune was going to... except in Pathfinder, the way kitsune gain multiple tails is the magical tail feat, meaning that, at birth, they couldn't possibly have more than two tails (the standard one, and one additional), and "two" hardly sounds like "a mass" to me.
Anyone have any other information?

I'm hoping to GM it someday, but I've heard the AP can be a bit tough to pull off with Grace. What happened?
From a trio of skavelings to a sextet of umbral hounds(?) to crystal creatures that breathed petrifying gas, the approach was consistently, "If you don't succeed at half a dozen saving throws in a row, you're out of the fight. Go make snacks."
I've never seen such a punitive AP.
(2) After Book 2 there was barely any interaction with NPCs, cities, or anyone else who wasn't of the, "This person has an 'E' next to their entry so it's OK to kill them," variety.
The party tried oh so hard to get some good NPC interactions, even going so far as to hang out with an aboleth just to have SOME kind of conversation, but it is NOT a "social" AP. It's a dungeon crawl. It doesn't matter that it's six different dungeons.
(3) The dungeons were poorly done. My favorite statistic was the final dungeon in Book 6: If I recall, it was 35 documented rooms, and 31 of them had CR ratings. Any dungeon where every room is a fight is a bad dungeon.
So, my players were utterly fed up with the AP already, and we were only going through the motions to finish it off. The final boss has a Mage's Disjunction he's supposed to cast to disable a single artifact. The PCs weren't using the artifact and he was basically dead unless he used it. So he did, and it was a near-party wipe; the oracle made her saves and managed to Dimension Door away. Because yes, the BBEG was also surrounded by minions who breathed clouds of petrifying gas.
They could have re-grouped, gone in knowing about the Disjunction, and re-fought the fight while expecting it to occur, but nobody had any desire to do so, so we quit the AP with a loss.

I'm seeing a lot of this philosophy show up in the Wrath of the Righteous video game. I've stepped away from it for a while although I may start it up again with a loooooot of cheats enabled for the story battles specifically, which are...well,, a lot like this. I'm also not a fan of the army/group battles as it seems to follow in the vein of "Hey, all gamers at the moment seem to love [insert other game here]. Why not just make a mini game in our game based off of it?!?" mindset that really really pisses me off.

Books 1 and 2 have many such opportunities, and with a bit of work from your GM, so does Book 3, so you can easily get halfway through a "decent" AP. (You WILL get hit by area effect disables every third fight for the entire AP unless your GM changes the creatures up, but that's between you and your GM.)
Once you hit Book 4, the opportunities for GM roaming drop dramatically. I look forward to hearing how it goes.

On the one hand I made a lot of progress, despite the circumstances.
On the other hand the boss gave me a couple of weights I had to drag with me today and for the rest of the week and tell them what to do, give them the riot act, possibly send them home and keep them from screwing anything up.
The sad thing is, both these weights are over 30 so they should know better.
So, while I'll continue to make progress it won't be as much as I would with one of the college kids and I constantly have to double check what they're doing so they don't set me back by not giving a s!%!.
All I know is if they say that they can't carry or lay pavers because they're "too expensive" I'm sending them home, I only work on high end projects so everything I build with is insanely expensive. That's why it's high end!
*Sigh* it's cool, I'm better now!

Our Pathfinder GM is well into the Wrath Of The Righteous video game, but does say it's pretty punishing. I got kind of fed up with Kingmaker, so I'm really not sure I want to drop £40 on it, but it might be worth a punt if it goes on sale.
I'll definitely recommend it. I got to about Act 4 of Kingmaker by punching myself in the head after months of stopping myself from playing it. WotR on the otherhand I played nonstop and only took a break once I got to Act 4 so I didn't burn myself out on enjoying it all at once :D
WotR is genuinely pretty good though I don't recommend playing on "Core" difficulty at all for anyone looking to just have a fun romp through Mendev.

Oh yeah. Lots of issues with poor rng on modest difficulties, and that mixed with the...impulsive...AI can sometimes lead to slapstick nonsense during fights that are supposed to be epic but turn into three stooges two rounds in.

I got a mailer from an ISP trying to get me to switch today. Normally I just throw them away, but this time I decided to read the fine print. And boy am I glad I did! It is great!
"This offer is for 2 months half-off our Gigabit Internet (Gigabit standard monthly rate is $89.99). Best of both worlds here! It's the world's fastest interent speed, coupled with the world's best WIFI equipment and experience. Enjoy TWO months 1/2 off Gigabit Internet speeds, plus we'll give you 2 free pods for as long as you maintain Gigabit Internet speeds. As is the usual fine print with our company - there's no tricks or gimmicks, you're locked into nothing and can enjoy whatever service or speed tier you want now, later or anytime inbetween. After, before, or even during the 2 month promotional period, customers may choose any other service level and pricing, at any time without any penalty because we're awesome. Without choosing another service level, this promotional half-off rate would increase to the standard monthly rate (currently $89.99)."
It goes on a bit from there, but that's the main part. I love it for a few reasons. First, they are claiming that Gigabit is the "world's fastest interent speed". Not "internet", "interent". Which leaves me with two questions: Is gigabit really the fastest speed? And what, exactly, is the "interent"? Second, they say they will give you "2 free pods", yet at no time on the entire mailer do they ever say what a "pod" is. In fact, this fine print is the only time "pods" are mentioned. So what are they? I'm assuming some kind of range extender, but that's just a guess. Connected to the "pods" issue, is the fact that they say you get them for "as long as you maintain Gigabit speeds". Not Gigabit level service, but gigabit speeds. Isn't it up to them to ensure that I maintain the speed? Finally, and this may just be me, I feel that there are probably some missing commas in there. Maybe they aren't required grammatically, but I just feel like there are a few places where a comma would be appropriate. And possibly one or two places where there is a comma that maybe shouldn't have one.
That is all.

It's been a few years since I played it, but I don't recall that many swarms or AoEs. Maybe the GM changed some of it, but I kind of doubt it. So either we were great at making saves, or I have suppressed the memories. As for not interacting with NPCs, that group wasn't much into role-play. Or, rather, about half of the group was, while the other half just wanted to dungeon crawl. So whatever interaction there was was good enough for our group. As for the final battle, I really don't remember it at all. If the main problem was petrification, though, that GM has ruled in other games that Freedom of Movement prevents petrification. So we probably just had that on and didn't worry about it.
