I'm posting from my tablet right now. I'm getting better performance out of it than from my laptop.

Edit: gets dressed.

After running the antivirus software and removing the two threats, my laptop is running as fast as ever. Problem resolved. :)

Captain Yesterday's eye twitches, ever so slightly.

A couple of weeks ago, we finally found a tv show that the whole family likes. A lot. Every single one of us.

Gods help us when we run out of eps, it's a long-running but ended show. We'll be back to alternating between predictable insipid kid movies and "Live action is boring, nothing kool happens...I won't like that one, I know it...why do we have to watch a movie, mom?...can I play on the computer?...I want to watch Angry Birds..."

Bob's Burgers is that show for us.

Gotta try that one, the only thing I know about it is the crossover ep of Archer.

Ours is Malcolm in the Middle. :)

Also and excellent show. I assume that's on Netflix.

Get her to help you. I began learning to cook at her age.

On the other hand, despite having a mother that did so constantly, I never did!

... I've come to terms with that, now.

XD

I saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2 tonight. I don't think it was as good as the first one, but I still had a good time.

My mother was an all around a truly terrible cook. I started learning to cook when I was a child out of sheer self-defense. It was the only way. :)

I've been trying to teach the kidlet, and he's picked up on some stuff, but he makes slow progress because he doesn't have that same feeling of needing to do it.

I get horror stories about that growing up from friends. It had lead to the occasional friend not knowing how to cook at all, which is funny where it is not weird. I see where some of my friends get their peculiar tastes from.

Does it help that Impus Major saw it by the time he was 5?

Probably not, since he also came with us into Halloween stores with the animatronic screaming skeletons and zombies and just gave them looks when they tried to scare him.

"The sarcasm readings on that boy are off the scale!"

I was really particular about what I let the kidlet watch before he was like seven or so. He was one of those really anxious kids who are scared of literally everything. Like he couldn't even do trick or treating at Halloween cause the decorations were too scary. And then we started slowly watching scarier and scarier stuff. Monster movies actually helped him get over being scared of everything. Not sure why, but hey, I'll take it.

I was such a chicken growing up...my mom encouraged it. Sigh...

ANIME!

I don't think I ever commented on the lists...

... sorry!

John Napier 698 wrote:

To continue, the following list is all the anime that I've seen that has little to no fanservice:

Str.A.In
Halo Legends -> this is an anime? Huh! Good to know. Lower on my list due to low Halo interest
Summer Wars -> already on my short list, when I find it
Spirited Away -> seen and enjoyed, along with most Miyazaki
Kaze no Stigma
Guin Saga
Guin Saga Season II
You're Under Arrest - The Movie
Serial Experiments Lain -> seen it a loooooooooong time ago
Another
Tytania
Mushi-shi
Pumpkin Scissors
Gundam 00 Season I -> but, but... 08 MS Team...
Rideback
Mass Effect: Paragon Lost -> similar to Halo, but more likely

So, TL, this list should keep you occupied for a while.

I'll have to look the rest up at some point.

Also, Freehold's notes.

I was a weird combination of utterly fearless and scared of everything. I wasn't afraid of things that could actually hurt me. Just monsters. Scary stories really helped because I felt like once I understood the rules that monsters had to abide by, I was back in control. So that was my strategy with my exceptionally cautious child, too. It just took a long time to get him there. :)

My motive on feeling down is merely hormonal so don't worry. It happens a few days each month since I was almost a child xD

OMG! Kindred spirits! That is EXACTLY the line I use when people ask me when/how I learned to cook! Woo hoo for terribly-cooking mothers! :-D

(And don't get me started on the commercials that say, "Just like your mom used to make" that send me into giggle fits...)

I never learned to cook until I studied because my mother was an awesome cook and so was my grandmother. Then I had to learn if I wanted to keep quality on my meals. I'm a gourmet! XD

It's not that my mother was a bad cook. My father was disabled from a degenerative neuromuscular condition and my mother was away attending Nursing School. As the oldest child, I had the responsibility to help take care of things.

What is the bizarre law of the universe that causes one rack of the dishwasher to fill to overflowing while the other remains empty?

I'd understand if it were the same rack every time. "Oh, top's full. Top's full again. Top's full again."

But at our house it's, "Oh, geez, the top is full and our counter is filling up with top-rack only stuff." Fills the dishwasher as much as possible, then runs it. In particular, there is no bottom-rack stuff left out. Once the cycle complete, empties dishwasher and puts in the extra top-rack stuff.

Two days later, the bottom rack is overflowing, and the partially-filled top rack has barely received any more dishes.

It's as if my family plots in advance to vex and confuse me...
