So I had a gaming dream. Not too unusual because we'd just finished the second session of Age of Worms last night shortly before I crashed.
The weird part was while half the party was indeed the AoW party, my and Scint's characters were replaced by our sisters from Rise of the Runelords for some reason.
Also the AoW GM's character from ROTRL was there, and carrying the nuke from Snow Crash for another some reason.
It was weird.

Some creativity done at night after returning from work and today morning... Three new races started - asura-like humanoids (ok, those are my conversion of asuras from Guild Wars 2, with serial numbers filed off), their biomechanical brethern, and a race of furry octopuses called xenopi... I know, I know, should be xenopuses but xenopi sounds better.

Anyone round these parts know much about PFS? A friend of mine is planning on starting a... what'd be the term? Chapter? Not sure. Anyways, starting up some PFS in the area. Thought I'd ask around the friendly "faces" I know, before tackling the PFS section of the forum.
I play PFS once every 2 weeks, what you want to know?

Oh, cool. Thanks.
What have your favourite scenarios been? Or which ones would you recommend? I know to look for Tier 1 - 5 or 1 - 7, but I also hear tell that some scenarios can have really tough stuff. Dealing which a bunch of likely new players, such scenarios would probably be best to avoid, I'm thinking.
I'll probably ask my friend if he has other queries later, but thank you again for offering, and I'll try not to ask too many obvious things. :)

I bet that was a completely weird dream O.o

It's also correct. The plural of "octopus" is "octopi" :P
(IIRC, "octopus" is one of several words in English that uses Roman pluralization; "fungus" is another.)

It wasn't horribly unpleasant - with my zen archer and Scint's druid removed, and my crusader, Scint's magus, and the GM's warpriest from the other game added, we still had a pretty coherent party for AoW. And none of us were fighting, though where was some justified paranoia that the magus would accidentally set off the nuke. (And even more justified paranoia that Raven might show up.)
But yeah after waking up there was some significant wondering how Siobhan, Roisin, and Souel ended up in Diamond Lake instead of Sandpoint/Magnimar (which in our setting are on two completely different continents), and what had happened to Isaac (the other party member from RL) or Thistle/Thorn/Archer/name of the day and Finnegan (the other PCs from AoW).

So you have the guide to PFS play and the books(CRB and such), I can't think of any other resources off the top of my head especially for a group of beginners that should be fine.
Favorite scenarios..Wow that's a tough one. For me it depends on who the GM/players are. I did enjoy "The Confirmation", "The Frostfur Captives".
You should send a message to TOZ, he is a PFS DM and much more experienced than I am. He is also a FAWTL so you can expect some solid advice.
I hope this helps and have fun playing!

Considering the root word is Greek, the proper archaic plural would be "octopedes". The proper English plural would be "octopuses". Since "xeno" is a Greek root, "xenopedes" would be correct.
All of that "New Latin" "i" nonsense is just that. Nonsense. ;-)

It almost sounds like a dream that would be fun to roleplay sometime. If confusing.

It's English. 90% of the time, the rules are either somewhat nonsensical or have more exceptions than words they apply to :P
"The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don’t just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary."

The perils of online job applications have made themselves readily apparent. I applied for a job working maintenance at a large housing firm that owns several apartment buildings in Syracuse, and stupidly didn't check to see which ones. Got a call back from them wanting an interview, and only after saying yes did I ask the address. Turns out the place is a f$++ing crack den. Back when I worked for Papa John's, we had to stop delivering there because drivers kept getting mugged. Something tells me I shouldn't even show up to the interview.

The problem is that octopus is derived from Ancient Greek. Some dictionaries list "octopi" version normally, other list it with note that it is more or less incorrect.
Fungus is derived from Latin on the other hand.
During more than usually boring workday I thought about xenopi a bit and they evolved to become genderless pansexual philosopical sensualist hippies...

- Building on the Druidic and Fey connections to nature, and MagusJanus' idea about the arrows taking the form of roses once launched, continuing with the nature theme seems like a good idea. So, a number of times per day, the bow can attempt to bind or entangle an opponent with thorny vines. It could take the form of the bow calling upon the forces of nature to aid the wielder in its hunt, in which case the spell, Entangle, could be used as a base, or, when struck by the launched "rose", vines could grow out from it to bind the opponent, perhaps allowing a ranged "grapple" attempt, or such like.
- More focused on the nature aspect, than the anti undead aspect, the bow could launch a projectile, limited as you see fit, which explodes into a Wall of Thorns. It could be boosted, power-wise, to fit the high level scenario. Being an artifact, it could be easy to justify it getting more powerful with time, or with each powerful undead it destroys. To fit in the undead in some way, should an undead creature perish to the damage caused by the wall, mayhaps it consumes the undead's husk to further its growth? Perhaps even doing this is what allows the artifact to increase its power?
- Feeding back into the rose projectiles, and the consumption of undead, the bow could empower its projectiles, once more, however often you see fit, with a Harm/Heal/Destruction projectile. What I'm thinking is, the rose could strike and, if the struck creature is undead, implants roots within the husk, and attempts to drain it of its negative power. Damaging like Heal does to an undead, but able to reduce the creature below 1HP. If it does so, the roots continue to grow, and utterly consume the undead beast, leaving a rose bush roughly in the shape of the undead creature in its wake. Perhaps a 5ft thorny wall segment even? In the name of being a powerful, anti-undead artifact, perhaps this attack even prevents a vampire from misting, or a lich's soul from returning to its phylactery? That may be too powerful though.
- In more of a thematic nature, the item makes me think of Morr, the Warhammer God of Death. Morr's garden is where the souls of the dead go to seek rest, and, of course, he despises undead. His roses are black, and are placed with the dead, to protect them from necromantic forces. The roses could be black, and, if placed with a corpse, could act to prevent it being raised unnaturally. I mentioned similar to such in my previous post. Could be a nice, thematic, not very powerful addition.

I like all the ideas submitted thus far! I think I've enough to work with. I'll put together the completed statblock and post it later for perusal =)

This is true. It's the hump of the week! ... Isn't it? ...
*checks calendar*
Yes, yes it is. Wednesday. The half way point. The tough part is over, it's all down-hump from here. And think of all the nice things the necessary evil of work shall earn you. Money for food and games and such like.
Speaking of games, Steam Summer Sale starts tomorrow, if the rumours are true. w00t! \o/

As a side note, for whatever reason, K-9 Web Protection (the web blocker used in my work place) blocks the SRD, but not the PRD, hence why I usually link to there.

Anything else that can be destroyed by destroying its body is fair game. I might also make this ability cost a Mythic Point to activate.I like all the ideas submitted thus far! Yep, I could see that. But then I thought fungi + octopi was a good idea, so what do I know.
