So I did my first engraving today. Bought my husband a beautiful $450 sterling silver pocket watch that was on clearance and with my employee discount came to $60. Then I engraved his name on the silver plate that is on top of the leather box it comes in, and I engraved the back to say "To Alex with love." all in french script. I did a damn fine job of it too. I also but the last of the pocket watched for myself. Seriously $450 to $60 thats a lot of money saved.

It's move-out weekend for most of the students here at Syracuse University. And there's nothing like move-out weekend to bring out the worst in spoiled rich a*!*@~&s. People have been junking and throwing out everything they can so that all of their crap can fit in their cars. It's like the Dust Bowl, only with spoiled rich kids from NYC instead of poor dirt farmers. A few hours ago, I watched a guy dump a large cardboard box full of shoes into a trash compactor. After my shift got out at 1:30 AM, I drove around campus stealing shit out of dumpsters, and managed to get a nice desk chair, a full set of sheets (still in their packaging), a cork bulletin board, a bookcase, a full set of pots and pans, and a half-sized refrigerator. These kids don't know how the world works.

Happy birthday man!!!!Got my birthday present from my wife and kid - a painting from this website called allpopart.com. It shows Charlie as Batman and me as the Joker. They must have used an actual picture of us. It's interesting.
On the other hand, yesterday at my FLGS, I bought some more Pathfinder minis for myself - got a Minotaur, a guardsman, the iconic paladin, and one other I can't remember at the moment.
Then when I stopped at Popeyes and ordered my 3 strip dinner, I had to wait about 10 minutes for it. When they finally brought it out, I had like 7 or 8 strips in the box. So that made lunch and a small dinner! Huzzah!
And I watched part one of the Fringe season finale!

Happy birthday man!... Well, yesterday but still. :D

Also, wolfthulu, have you played Cthulhu Saves The World? Because if you haven't, you really should.
Oh? I have not heard of such awesomeness before this very moment.
A quick google shows that it is an Xbox game. Which explains my ignorance. I shall be purchasing the PC port very shortly. Happy birthday ME! (No it's not, but with this kind of potential goodness, it should be.)

Dumpster diving has always been a valid form of acquiring good stuff for no cost. I used to have this awesome lounge chair that we got that way, until the wife tossed it.

I had an acquaintance back in the day who used to drive up to Syracuse just to go dumpster diving for some of the things these guys were throwing out. One year he got a PS1(this is back when it was almost-new, I think the PS2 came out later that year), a smallish TV(still free) and a few other things. If I had a car, I would do it.

Have you done freecycle? You should see what's available in your area.

All are awesome ways of getting stuff. You should see the roaming herds of pickup trucks around here on large trash pickup day.

I thought you were trying to get enough posts in with that alias for your board title?
edit: Nope, I see you've got it! I'm a bit behind.

Lies!!! I can see the clear night sky in many places in my area. Our biggest problem is light pollution, not chud pollution. If you want that, go west, young woman, go west.

Yep, just doing my part for the 50K effort.

Had some cheap noodle stir-fry and went to see the Avengers last night. I didn't miss Steed and Mrs. Peel at all! Comics hold no magic for me, but I still enjoyed the movie.
They whole gang is standing on a street in NY during a lull in the pitched battle with the aliens, all shiny and kickass with their super-suits and super weapons, when Bruce Banner comes tooling up in baggy pants and sweater on a battered old motorbike. I swear they all had a momentary look of panic at the appearance of this rumpled, unassuming man. That's power.

If we hurry, the three of us could get it while everyone else sleeps...
