Two of the concussions I still can clearly remember involved a rough game of tag, where I fell backwards and hit my head. The second one I was tying a rope to the monkey bars, for some weird ass plan, tripped over one of the ropes, and hit my head really hard against one of the support bars. That one was enough to knock me out. All I can remember falling, and then waking up in bed.
The other three were there as my parents told me, but I cant remember them specificly. Probably because I was fairly young, and I got bumps and scrapes all the time.

Talking to Zelda I remembered a ninth. Yes, it's true, once you have one, it doesn't take as much to have another. And another...
Twenty years ago in a crappy basement apartment I had with my first wife, I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, and I never turned on the lights. On my way out I turned too early and slammed my face directly into the door frame, bounced back and clocked the back of my head against the opposite side of the frame, and then pinged my head again when I hit the tile floor.
I can't imagine how my life would turn out without all of this brain damage.

*SIGH*. Looks like Impus Major is about to have his first girlfriend, whether he wants to admit it or not, and of course it's going to be a nerve-wracking experience.
On the one hand, I really like the girl. She's sweet-natured, enthusiastic, and fun to be around.
On the other hand, she comes with enough red flags to supply a Chinese New Year festival in Beijing:
I mean, she's dangerous both legally and emotionally for Impus Major, but he's got the maturity of a 30-year-old. It's a hurricane hitting a rock. We'll see how he weathers.

Possibly as a result of that, she has emotional swings of a magnitude I've never seen before. And my best friend was a manic-depressive who killed himself. She'll be happily hanging out. Then sobbing in tears. Then overwhelmed with guilt. Then perfectly happy again. All in the span of 15 minutes.
*alarm klaxon*
Sounds like a hidden psychological issue that needs treatment...
She was raised by a, "Physicality isn't an issue," family, so she is going to be pressuring Impus Major for more and more intimate physical acts. And with her 15, and Impus Major 18, that's all kinds of dangerous legal and physical ramifications. She's also the only girl who's flashed our entire living room by accident, because she likes to wear crop tops with no bra. I mention that because it's just an example of her entire, "If it feels good, there's nothing wrong with it," attitude that her parents share. Er, I really don't care how you feel; until she's 18 she's a legal landmine, and I'd rather you NOT teach her any different, no matter your political views on the subject.

I am proud to say that HE came to US to get our advice and opinions, and we gave them to him. He's well aware of the law, and he would rather wait 'til she's older. She's unwilling to wait and is thrusting herself upon him, and he's too polite/nervous about making her explode to push her away.
It's unpleasant to watch, but it's a life experience he needs to go through to learn to navigate it; he's going to hit such issues again and again, and no amount of advice or teaching will help him deal with it until he's experienced it at least once firsthand.
I'll advise him, guide him, and be there for him if/when things blow up. But for the moment, I have to have faith that he's going to manage to navigate this himself.
And I do.

I left my Bluetooth headset at home today, meaning I've had to rely on the wired headset at work. In the office it's not so bad. But on my lunch break going for a walk, for some reason having the headset outlet filled means the Google Assistant keeps popping up for no frakking reason. It's incredibly annoying as it stops my music every 2-3 seconds to go "Ba deep!" And pop up the Assistant screen. Only for me to swipe it away, go back to my music, and the whole thing repeat a few steps later.

Pretty sure that's a federal law: you cease to be a minor at 18 legally, and the interactions between minors and non-minors is the issue here.
States can go higher, but not lower. Though I don't think any currently do. I know in the past sone states didn't consider you fully adult until 21, but there was a weird limbo state between 18 and 21 as a result where by state law you were still a minor but federal law an adult and thus things could get very messy.
I'm pretty sure that no longer exists though and all states consider you an adult at 18 now. But I admit I could be wrong, I'm not taking the time to Google it at the moment.

The feds bullied the states into raising the drinking age by tying it to highway funds, but the age of consent is still a state controlled issue. There are federal laws about taking minors over state lines for illicit purposes. So you can't for example, take ms. fizzyflasher to Arkansas or some more lenient state (with close in exceptions) to get your jollies.

She's a "serial dater": Impus Major will be either her 4th or 5th boyfriend. In the last 18 months.
She has absolutely no self-control or thoughts of consequences whatsoever. If it sounds like fun, she does it. Y'know the old myth that girls are more mature than boys? She's the exception that proves the rule. I've dealt with sixth graders with greater emotional maturity.

More seriously, it can be very important to learn for oneself(i.e. not from a third party) what is and is not acceptable in a relationship, and how to dissuade those that think the things your dad mentioned are cool from creating one with you.

Find it kinda funny how many of the lowest-age states are also the most rigid in their views on the matter...
I'd be curious to see that map overlapped with ones recording things like abstinence-only sex ed, high rates of teen pregnancy, divorce rates, and/or legalized minor marriage.
I imagine we'd see some interesting patterns....

About the only thing that reassures me is that, around here at least, DAs are starting to look at the age difference when deciding on charges, rather than just "adult and minor".
Two high school kids, one's 15 and one's 18? That's just teen stupidity.
A 35-year-old corporate exec and a 15-year-old? Somethings really wrong there.
And DAs are finally getting their heads out of their Lawful Neutral butts and seeing that.

that depends heavily on where you live. Some states give parents a lot of legal power when it comes to their kids carnal explorations.

Tequila's Pet Peeve #73: How hard is it to hit Cancel after prematurely pulling your food out of the microwave?!
Tequila's thoughts on Endgame: I'm sure I'll eventually see it, probably when it hits Netflix. But I'm generally burnt out on the superhero classics, I was underwhelmed with Infinity War, I don't like time travel, and I know that somehow Thanos will be defeated and someone will use the time stone to just retcon everyone back alive. I'm much more excited for this week's GoT episode, which I haven't seen yet.

Originally, the Mann's Act was used to forbid transportation of women and minors across the state borders for purpose of prostitution, debauchery, and immoral purposes—the big issue was that debauchery and immoral purposes were undefined, allowing for persecution of mutually consensual sexual activity between adult people, especially if they happened to be of different races.
Later, the law was altered to be limited mostly to prevent human trafficking, though as far as I know, it still covers consensual attempts to take advantage of more favorable age of consent laws in another state.

My friend Kat is a freelance artist who occasionally does design work as well. For example, she just did the cover for a mutual friend's recent book on Hungarian fencing, for the three people in the world who are interested in historical Hungarian fencing.

I've always been quite conservative about my clothing right until I was rushing to the next gym class. Seeing the long queue, I was like screw it, I'll just change in the locker room. And it was a lot faster. Besides I actually do have some kind of figure these days ^^
Also I was actually diagnosed with a pre asthmatic cough when I was younger and told not to participate in physical education lessons. Man, that really bored me out of my mind.

Also my house attendance at elementary school was that poor(and when I set out to do stuff, I give it my best shot) that they put me for every event except shot put. That is 100m, 4 x 100 m, 200m, 400m, 800m and high jump. Everything but shot put and high jump were on the same day. Yeah like how do you expect me to run 5 events in a single day?
I did get 3rd prize for high jump(I've sort of been practicing at home and actually broke the ribs of one of the beds - was told not to do it anymore), but told the teacher that I couldn't run that much distance in a single day and said no to the 400m and 800m stuff. Didn't get anything for running since there's a whole load of people who run faster then I do.
I'm a little too heavy for serious jumping, but I can sort of carry it off because I've always had powerful hindpaws.
Now I've gotten older, I know I don't sprint well. More of a long distance type since I can use my mental fortitude to mind over matter things.

I am sitting in the hospital with mom. She is asleep right now (and in pain. Nothing I can do about that.). I am watching the news, then wheel of fortune then jeopardy before heading home. I would sit at her house with her and watch these all the time with her. This may be my last time watching these with her. I am not giving that up, even if she is asleep, out of it, and can't hear the shows.
Damn, but this does suck.
