I wake up anywhere between 4:30 and 6 am depending on if i work (if I work ALWAYS by 4:30, if I don't anywhere between 4:30 and 6).
I'm a morning person, an annoyingly cheerful morning person, in fact annoyingly cheerful morning people WISH they could be as annoyingly cheerful as I am in the morning.

LOL. I knew you'd "out" me.
But ugh. Last night Impus Major decided to be out 'til 3:00 am, then have a friend crash on the couch. Not only did I lose 2-3 hours of sleep (that I needed), but my back's all sore and today is the first day of a 4-day marathon of assaulting the boxes in the side yard.
Curse you, Impus Major!
But I'm sure he had fun, and I remember back when I was his age and there was nothing like roaming around with a pack of friends in the wee hours of the morning for no reason.
3:00 am is still late, though. I remember always wrapping up between 1 and 2.
If he's anything like me, 3:30 is his bed time.
(Not kidding. If I'm allowed, I go strong, hit sleepy time at 3:30, and wake up sharp around 11:30. Things can - and, in the normal course of life, do - mess with this a great deal, of course, but if left to my own devices, I've consistently found that this is my life rhythm.)
2 AM to 10 AM here.

Ive always needed a lot of sleep to process everything in my brain. Also, I love sleeping. Part of it is that I pretty much remember my dreams every night, and I generally dream pretty awesomely.
I do forget most of it. But from last night I remember I was kind of john wick with mystic powers. I looked like john wick in the movie, but I was also me of course, because dreams. And I needed to kill the bad guys and there was mystecism involved.
I mean, its weird stuff like that every night. Its awesome.

This is what I remember from my dream this night.
I was spider man (tom holland). I had beef with a kid at school and that kid made a mind control device and placed it on me. It looked like the thing doc ock had in the toby mcguire spiderman movie.
It was taken me over, but earlier I had captured Loki. And I figured, who knows more about mind control then anyone? Loki right?! So I went to loki for help. Offered his freedom in exchange of him helping me. So then Loki got rid of the mind conttrol from the kid. But of course then I became under loki his mind control.

I have so many questions about this, actually. As I'm not able to think of an intelligible set of code words that would get me around the Paizo censors,
2. I followed Boris Johnson a bit when he was Mayor of London, and from over here he seems like such a colossal assbag, he might well be one of *our* politicians. So by the Zaphod Beeblebrox principle, once he announced his candidacy for PM, it was more or less a foregone conclusion, no?
Which brings me to...
3. Is it even worth considering that the events of yesterday were orchestrated in order to damage his chances? Or is that completely ridiculous?

That is an awesome dream. Almost as cool as the one where I was Thor fighting the armies of Saruman.
Also Why do I feel like you wouldn't mind being mind controlled by Loki all that much.
I want that dream.
But not if it was Lebowski Thor from Endgame.EDIT: but I'll pass on the controlled-by-Loki part.

Gods. Is communication really that hard?
So, "problem parent" (the one who tries to do everything for her kid) didn't communicate to me at all about how she managed to get all of the kids EXCEPT Impus Major registered for the required college orientation class, so by the time I got it working that class was full and I registered him for a class next week.
I emailed her and both of the other kids, "Hey, Impus Major is registered for the 28th. Do you want to move your registrations or what?"
No response.
This morning at 7:45 am I got a call: "Hey, we're leaving in 25 minutes. Can you wake Impus Major up, have him get dressed, and have him come with us in case there are any open spaces?"
No. No, I can't.
If you can't give me 24 hours notice that you've come up with some whacked-out plan that might or might not succeed, and you haven't even thought through the consequences of, "What if it doesn't?" ("Here, Impus Major. Take BART home!"), then I'm not going to wake my kid up to run off on some half-a$$ed adventure.
If they'd told me yesterday so I could have had Impus Major prepped and had mitigation plans, then yeah, sure, he can give it a try.
But, "Let's leave in 25 minutes for something you're not registered for!" is not a good use of Impus Major's time.

Last night I had a large number of dreams, but I can only remember parts from two, though all my dreams were related, and (I'm pretty sure) all inspired by the Starfinder reading I was doing last night.
The one I recall least was a kind of space-marine-type character who was running around for some reason or another. I'm honestly not entirely sure it was a space-marine (in fact, to some extent, it wasn't), but I'm not sure what, exactly, it was (and I'm sure that sometimes the exact characteristics shifted about). While I perceived things from the view (sometimes) of the character, it was clear that I was not that character.
ANYway, he was hired or somehow needed to retrieve a super-crate, but Z-0-M-B-i-3 aP0C0LyP5E (or something) had happened for reasons unknown, but I think I knew in-dream. Anyway, the last part of the dream happened in a dark area with the classic swinging-light-thing; then (probably inspired by the AWESOME BotW2 trailer; check it out, if you haven't!) the last guy that the dream-character was supposed to meet turns out to secretly be a zombie! Surprise-only-not-really-because-I-was-commenting-on-the-trope-in-dream! The dream-character managed to fight off the zombie, reclaim the big chest (which held the secret to all this and how to end the problem) and left successfully.
===============
The next one was much bigger, and I remembered more of it before writing this right now, but it was longer and more intense.
Either way, a bunch of stuff happened in a Starfinder-esque setting, and there was a kind of kids tv-show. Channeling the SCP Foundation, it had a memetic virus of some kind that infected electronic stuff (also brain implants via hypnotic conditioning or whatever, but this wasn't known at the start of the dream). The idea was that it could infest other autonomous electronic systems with A.I. kind of rewriting the A.I. with itself, or something. Doesn't quite work out, because A.I. stuff wasn't quite prevalent in this setting enough to be that dangerous, but apparently it could infest toasters or something? And maybe some sort of gel? I know "memory gel" doesn't work that way - hush, it was a dream. I don't know, I can't really remember. Something about special ceramic tiles and chips. It was also evil and wanted to kill the world? Or something? I've forgotten.
Either way, it exited the show and tried to attack, but we managed to beat it back and then entirely eliminate the A.I. infestation after a pretty epic battle, preventing it from "escaping" back into the show. We thought it was dead for good, but, SURPRISE! it still existed, which we found out when we were watching a rerun the next day. So we did some sort of something ("I" was a character in this, even though it wasn't the "me" that exists in real life) like a planet-wide signal or whatever to cause all the electronic devices with that particular code to self-destruct (like an antivirus virus or something). It had something to do with the way it required certain ceramic structures to house its unique programming thing-y, shattering the circuits and ending the program. Either way, it worked! It was virtually eradicated.
Buuuuuuu~uuuuuuuuuuut, it also infected brain-implants, too, as I spoiler'd above. It wasn't quite as bad as all that - hypnotic conditioning instead of actual reproduction, replication, and eradication of the previous mind. Still, it was a problem and it could have influenced people to "re-make" the evil code (and, in fact, they did want to have that happen and some were working on it).
So we created a third antivirus-virus, but it required using special techniques to apply to people and it was pretty difficult. Either way, we eventually succeeded... probably. It wasn't clear that we'd gotten every version, but the likelihood was that it was gotten, especially when it was considered that we knew everyone with the training to do that sort of thing, and we were going to be able to follow anyone who wanted that sort of training.
The kind of "stinger"/"horror" moment was when the character that was the stand-in for my wife as one of those affected at the end! Oh no! ... but it really wasn't scary in the slightest, as I had every confidence that she'd be fine and so would I. It was funny, because it was supposed to be scary or whatever and was just kind of, "Uh, if you were really trying to pick someone to betray and harm me, you chose, like, the worst person ever. Stupid genius A.I."
And so the dream ended with a mild sense of security and confidence, despite the scary "stinger." (There was also a mild conversation with my wife's character about having watched the show when she was a kid or somesuch in which she suggested she got infected while watching it.)
And that's how I woke up!
Either way, it was a pretty interesting series of dreams! I wish I could remember more.

I've pretty much never remembered my dreams for as long as I've been aware that other people do, with the exception of a few nightmares that woke me up, or getting woken up at *exactly* the right time.
All in all I'd guess I've remembered my dreams (or even been aware that I'd dreamed at all) less than 50 times in my lifetime, and probably closer to 20-30.
It makes sleeping a lot less fun.

Well, there's a place for spontaneity ("Hey, let's run off and get dinner," like they did last night) and a place where it's stupid ("Hey, I see a trailhead! Let's walk up it and see where it gets us even though we don't have so much as a water bottle among us!").
My general rule of thumb is that if Impus Major's friends spontaneously try to get him to do something that:
(1) Will eat *my* time to help them get organized
(2) Will cost Impus Major money
(3) May be dangerous
then it's a no-go.
In this case I would have had to drop everything to print out the necessary docs for Impus Major while getting him out the door, then on the very real possibility that he wouldn't be given credit for the course I would have had to drive for 2 hours to pick him up. Too much risk for not enough reward.
And I think the thing that really ticks me off is that it was a good idea. Even if they'd told me about it last night I could have had him all prepped to go, money in hand, and she could have dropped him at BART if things hadn't worked out. But with no time for preparation nor contingency planning, it's a "throw caution to the wind" attitude that so many people find "admirable" or "fun". But I've had to clean up too many of those messes in my lifetime to consider them anything but selfish ***hats.
