When I went for a walk today (yay, day out of work without needing to save energy to get tomorrow morning!) I stopped at PC world where I was checking if there is any reasonable sale for flash drives (I would like to make a recovery disk for my new laptop finally) and saw a Kobo Arc - 7 inch tablet. Nice and a tempting - having portable internet browser/notebook/book reader would be useful. And it is currently for 80 pounds. Shame it only has Wi-Fi as a mean of accessing internet. Tempting. Maybe I will buy one before I return to Poland...

I have an unhealthy love of capers.
I made picatta. Once. Having never had it before. The recipe looked good.
Never again.
Apparently I do NOT like capers. Who knew? ;P
I hate capers. (But like Caper. Ironic? Probably not.)

So. I am bored at work and decided "Hey, you know what sounds like fun? I'll go through the list of posts I've made that have been favorited by other people and revisit the past. That ought to kill a few minutes." I scrolled through, laughing occasionally, sometimes wondering why a certain post got favorited, until I reached the end. And there it was, the first post of mine that someone else favorited. One I had almost completely forgotten about. One I was, and still am, kinda proud of. The one favorited by Cosmo, although I'm not entirely sure that's a good thing. So, for anyone who cares (and also for those who don't) here is a link to my first favorited post.
And now it's time to make the coffee.
I hate coffee.

Yesterday was busy as well. Took the Trailblazer over to Walmart's autoshop for a much needed oil change, along with some of the basics. Time was I'd have done it myself. These days it's not feasible, however. Maybe in the future that will change.
After that it was comic book store, grocery shopping, and some clothes washing.

Good furniture can last a looong time. For example - the dining room table we had growing up. The damn thing was solid wood and huge. When I was a kid, it sat my parents, myself, and my four brothers. And that's without the leaves which could be inserted into either end, extending it at least another 2 feet per leaf.
That table is still being used by my younger brother. Some FAWTLY Folk have experienced gaming around this table.

I don't really want to go and leave family at home :-/
This I completely understand. Every time I had to leave the wife and boy alone to go off for a 2-3 week inspection for the Navy was nerve wracking. It was especially hard knowing we didn't have any family close by to help out.
Luckily, I've only had to be away for work once so far since Katie has come along. And At least now we have family nearby.

Good morning everyfawtl,
Just stopped by the place to pick up more clothes as encouraged by the other party. Conversations should be had later on today or this week. The place was messy as usual but I didn't see myself burned in effigy anywhere or my stuff thrown out of the window. I guess that's a start.

Also, not sure if anyone follows March Madness. I usually do not, but I was interested in it a little this year, based solely on the Warren Buffet challenge. Basically, he offered $1 Billion to anyone who could offer up a perfect bracket. After one day, there were only three people still in the running - in the whole world.

What have you done/haven't done?!
Maybe I will actually ask later if you don't mind speaking about that...

I would say that one is a winner :)

Every time I bake a pie I am reminded of the fact that the last time I baked a pie I swore never to do it again.
Why is it that I can make beef wellington, pan-seared breast of duck, authentic tiramisu, or any number of other dishes, but a simple fruit-filled pie makes me break out into a cold sweat?
On the upshot, I only had to throw away my dough and start over once.

I will point to not my first favorited post, but my fifth. (Although my last page of favorited posts are pretty much all from before favoriting began, which means people would have had to go back to find them.)
The best part is that two posts later it elicited an in-character response from Lisa Stevens.

2:00 pm and just waking up. Trying to recover from last night's spectacular wedding party of two of my D&D players, who right now should be on a plane for their honey moon.
They grow so fast <sniff>.
Our extended gaming group back in Kraków has two married pairs that meet on our sessions.
