You shouldn't use such insults so lightly.
Dude, hell's bells, lighten up.

What kind of snacks do you usually eat?
The bad kind: Snickers, Milky Ways, and Twix. I usually mix them up with a fruit or two, but I'm trying to drop candy in general. I was already succesful quitting soda (6 months since the last time I had any), but Snickers are my passion. I'll get a handle of it eventually, though.
Just got to work,...
Is it time to go home yet?
WHY does this Wed morning feel like MONDAY?!?
What do you mean? Today is Monday!

It is proven that caffeine, and coffee in particular, helps to curb appetite! :)All hail the java bean!
Aye, my brother says the same. Thing is, I've never drank coffee; I guess I'm bad with bitter tastes. I think it is the same reason why I don't drink alcohol or smoke (well, maybe the fact my dad let me smoke a cigar when I was 6 and I coughed for hours had some influence on that too. I mean, he taught me to swim by throwing me off a pier).

Right, so here's what Drejk said:
What, you suggest it isn't completely normal around writers-wanna be?!
In response to what I'm guessing was these two sentences:
My mind keeps wandering whenever I have to think of the larger picture in most stories.
I worry that flaw will stop me from ever being a successful writer. Curse my scatterbrain tendencies...
Which does sound a lot like something a near-infinite number of aspiring writers (or wanna-be writers, to use a term I know at least one John W Campbell-award nominee used of herself even after she'd gotten that nomination) have said any number of times.
Now, unless we're to assume that Drejk knew that you were a writer, how is that supposed to be an insult?

I actually never drank coffee (1 a year doesn't count) until I got this friggin' job. But when you look like Aberzombie's portrait, ( and feel worse!) tea just won't cut it. ;P
I'm with you on the bitter though, I used to have to make my coffee look and taste almost like hot chocolate before I could drink it. :)
Hang in there Klaus! Teach those Candy bars whose boss!
Just ignore their siren call of chocolaty goodness, that sweet, sweet temptation of cocoa and sugar and caramel and,... where's the vending machine?

What do you mean by that? There's a failure to communicate here.

If I recall right, I have told him in the past. But whatever, I want to know what he meant now.

I am going through exactly the same thing, Klaus. I think my sweet tooth is my biggest dietary vice right now, and everything I read tells me I need to get my sugar intake down for cardiovascular health. I have a weakness for candy that is hard to get away from. I need to surround myself with healthier snack options, but I have been too lazy to do so.

Lots of us write or at least try to. Ignoring feeble attempts at teenage years, I have written my first complete (and at the moment the only fully finished) short story some nine or ten years ago (I think it was early 2002 but I might be wrong). Since that time I have written quite a lot but it all remains early drafts that wait for being finished mostly due to the exactly the same reasons you mentioned. I wasn't referring to "you, Icy the writer wanna-be" but to "us writer wanna-bes".
If I recall right, I have told him in the past. But whatever, I want to know what he meant now.Right, so here's what Drejk said:

I know that you are writing but I didn't know (I might have been told and forgotten) that you are writer. To paraphrase Felix (who was second best selling in Poland Polish fantasy writer at the time he said that): "writer is someone who earns his living from writing, everyone else is writer wanna-be". It was a bit self-ironic statement because lots of time he and his wife were living from her income between he made a sale of his book.
Regardless of all this... How in the Nine Hells is "writer wanna-be" an insult?!

Lighthearted banter?
But hey, if you two gents want to throw down, I'd not be opposed...
I'm just going to completely ignore it and go write something.

Why can't they just invent proper-tasting chocolate without sugar?
SCIENTIIISTS!!!
I don't think I would like Scientists' solution to sugar-free chocolate. Food is food, and shouldn't come from a lab.
Of course, that means the solution involves self-control...
Hmmmmm...
SCIENTISTS!!!

whatwworks for me is dried fruits. There are some seriously interesting dried fruits out there that are essentially candied. Dried papaya is a personal favorite, as is dried mango, raisins, and cranberries. Super healthy too.

Me too. I try to let myself have sweets in small amounts so I won't go nuts with craving them. But I really shouldn't have so many. Trying to find ways to replace them because sometimes fruit just won't cut it. I really like the cocoa powder coated almonds. And cultured coconut milk (ie yogurt for the lactose intolerant). And popcorn. Sure it's carbs, but it's a lot less sugar and calories than the candy bars. :)

Chilli spiced chocolate? Nah, a friend brought one to the session. Not my taste. I am not especially fond of chilli peppers.
Well, chocolate was originally served as a spicy -and very bitter- drink in Mesoamerica. In fact, if I remember correctly, the very word "chocolate" comes from an Aztec word meaning "bitter".
Maybe your friend was being a Precolombine Hipster.
