Did your prescription change much? Or are you like me and even the smallest difference drives you nuts?

I went to my eye doctor the summer between my two years in Japan, freaking that I needed new glasses, everything was blurry and I couldn't see a thing. He gave me an eye exam. I'd had bifocals for a couple years in college, and was dreading the result. "How much did my eyes change?"

The doctor looks at me and at his chart. "Well, your prescription did change. By the smallest measurable amount." heheh.

My prescription didn't change at all. It's exactly the same. Apparently the difference between looking through scratched lenses and clear lenses is enough to cause adjustment difficulties. It's amazing how much the smallest differences effect things.

This makes no sense.

Could be muscle loss. They're heavier than fat.

(Reasoning based on the vacation from exercising.)

Huh, could be. That would kinda suck, 2 weeks leads to 5 lbs of muscle loss, though.

Craziness! Are they different frames? That can make a big difference too.

Yes, and they're angled differently. It's driving me nuts! I keep thinking I see something out of the corner of my eye and it turns out to be the side of the frame. :P

That actually sounds like really good advice. If anyone wants to take a look and stop me from saying anything stupid, the bomb I'm about to drop is spoilered below:

Spoiler:
First off, I want to apologize for not calling for this long. I've been working some things out on my end, and had to work up the courage to let you know what I've been thinking about.

What it comes down to is that I don't think this is going to work. I really like you--you're interesting, intelligent, attractive, just about everything I look for in a woman. The problem is that I've come to realize that I'm not even close to being over Tory Liz (my ex-fiancee) yet, and I'm completely unprepared for any sort of emotional investment. I wouldn't want to rush a relationship and cheapen the thing for both of us.

I was in a very serious relationship for three years, and I still need some time to figure myself out and deal with all of my various demons, get my feet back under me financially, and figure out where I'm going in life. I really wanted this to work in the here and now, but I ran out of gas. If I find myself in the right position somewhere down the road, we might be able to pick up where we left off, but right now I think it would be best if we both moved on.

Again, I seriously can't thank you all enough for your help on this and other problems I've been having recently.

Huzzah!

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Wednesday. Although, in all truth, it's looking to be another marginally craptastic day. Got a multi-hour phone conference later on today. One of my co-workers will be at the meeting I'm calling in to, and it's sort of my job to make sure he doesn't say anything the rest of us will regret.

Scarab Sages

In other news: I had forgotten how much fun the original Knights of the Old Republic game was.

Scarab Sages

Of course, I have the X-box version which, if I recall correctly, lacks extra content they included in the PC version of the game.

Scarab Sages

Or maybe that was KotOR II? I can never remember.

Scarab Sages

All right folks, try to have a better day than me. Later.

Best of luck, Shiny.

Arrrrrggghhh!!!!!

Ahhhh!!!! A zombie! Run!

Bad day at work, zombie boy? Hope it gets better soon.

Shoot.

Well, at least most of the presentation is back-up slides.

Hey! That avatar doesn't have glasses...I was understandably confused.

Your avatar doesn't have glasses. Your point?

;-)

My glasses are small and have no frames so that they virtually disappear on my face and make no difference to how I look. My point, as always, is large, but sometimes obscured by magical means or dull senses or willful obstinacy. But I'm not really making a point RE Bitter Thorn.

That cracked me up on multiple levels - it reminded me of sailor moon (which has just been announced will be remade in Japan), and of an in joke I have with one of my darklight sisterhood players. And oh yeah, I I meant the earlier old spice guy, not Terry crews, who is still cool, btw.

So, here's a question that's annoying me: Do we ever find out the title given to Alphonse Elric when he becomes licensed as a state alchemist?

Freehold DM wrote:

Isaiah Mustafa. Which you have to admit is a pretty darn cool name.

If I'd been in the neighbourhood I might have upped the Viking ruggedness to Skarsgårdian levels just to give you a worthy opponent. ;)

All I know so far is that the original tuxedo Kamen and sailor moon /usagi are reprising their roles. I'm cautiously optimistic, but after the horror that was bubble gum crisis 2030, I am not sure I want to see a remake.

I don't really know why I like getting up early I just do.
