Stephen,
Is there still time for random combat-oriented requests for Ultimate Combat?
If so, let me start with the first one, which is not page intensive (one paragraph only)
Could you add a ranger combat style for halfling slingers? (see this post for more details)
Basically, the idea would be to give an additional combat style option for halfling rangers with the ammo drop and juggle load feats...
Cheers!

If I could selfishly insert any one thing into the rules canon, I would want these Battle Adaptation feats.
Or... anything that addresses the feat deficit problem on a similar level. I think this kind of rule is both fair and necessary to keep the game fun as more material is released.
Until something is done to close the feat deficit, every new book of awesome options will go increasingly unused, since my group never turns over enough new characters to try them all. And so many of the feats are sort of mandatory now, that nobody really gets to try the out-there stuff.
To me, that's the biggest obstacle posed in the writing of a new combat-focused rulebook.

I'd just like to see the 'Smart Fighter' w/ 4 ranks/level and better Class Skill list come back as an OFFICIAL PRPG/PFS option. Make it a 1st-level only Feat, if you want. Make it available to non-Fighters and add +2 ranks/level if you want. At least I could see it also available for 1st level Paladins and Clerics.

New effective ways to use skills in combat and to regain some viability that alot of low level spells make obsolete (cure light and heal, spider climb and climb, etc)
Also mass combat rules that can actually function against high level opponents without them being completely invulnerable. A tenth level character should have trouble killing a 100 soldiers and it shouldnt just be when a natural 20 hits.

I second Evil Lincoln's feats.
I would also like to add a Ranger combat style:
Trident and Net.
Perhaps some feats to allow extra benefits with various weapons. For example, a feat that lets you use "Brace" with any pole arm, or even two handed weapon. A feat that bumps the damage of the weapon up, or increases the crit range by 1 point. This is sort of inspired by Kirth's houserules on weapon proficiency.

I was about to say "try having the 100 guys surround the 10th level guy" but then I remembered about Lunge and Power Attack being used together, and well, the resulting crater the 10th level guy would create every 6 seconds... (i.e. 24 deaths per round, assuming he rolls no natural ones, I believe... which means, if they are dumb enough to press in and fill the ranks, that the entire 100 men army could be defeated in 4 rounds; 24 x 4 = 96... as I don't think the 4 guys still standing will do much more than begging for mercy...)
PS: if the 10th level guy decides to enlarge... as a DM I would just go "do you kill them all or do you give them the option to pack it after the first round's massacre?"

Kind of like? But for any class.
You have attended a war college or fighter school.
Prerequisites: This feat can be selected at first level if you are selecting fighter as your first class.
Benefit: Your fighter class has 4 + Int modifier skill ranks per level. Add 3 skills of your choice to the list of class skills. One of those skills must be a Knowledge skill.
Normal: A fighter has 2 + Int modifier skill ranks per level.
Special: You may select a specific martial academy if allowed by the GM. A fighter may select this feat as his first level bonus feat and can not be exchanged for a different feat.
I adopted the fighter martial academy idea for my campaign with a little change.

God, I want this.

I would love to see an optional rule handling possible fumbles. Natural 20's are always crit threats. Natural 1's should be 'fumble' threats.
After rolling a natural 1, roll a BAB check vs. DC 21. If you make it, you have a normal automatic miss, continue your attacks. If you fail, you fumble. Perhaps have the amount you fail by determine the fumble severity on a chart, or simply have a fumble chart that you roll on to determine what happens?
Dropped weapons should be one option, tripping or losing footing requiring a Reflex or acrobatics check could be another option, bow strings breaking (or checking to see if they break) should be an option, losing the rest of your attacks for the round as you juggle your weapon, etc.
None of the fumbles should be lethal to the user or their allies but they should put in cinematic effects and definate disadvantages to whoever rolls them, to add tension and flavor to combat.
The check system is built such that the chance to fumble is lower for the better trained combat classes and gets lower and lower as they level up.

I'd like to see a revised optional system for armour and shields (armour as DR v certain damage types rather than providing a bonus to AC).
Armor as DR I believe has already been mentioned as in the book. But I think as general DR, not v. piercing/slashing, etc.
Schools of combat, like schools of magic, is awesome. 3.5 Tome of Battle, love it or hate it, did an excellent job thematically. Stances as feats would work well.
I am a rogue player, skill monkey to the core. I love using skills in combat in weird and inventive ways. I need to vote for new skill uses again. Skill Tricks in Complete Scoundrel and 4th ed. PHB3 are incredible utility powers in concept. And while they can be adapted for PF, I would much rather see them redone by the Paizo staff. Also, including them in UC allows you come up with a variety of combat-related ones and lays the foundation for the inevitable 'Ultimate Skillz' book. Which is the book I have been most looking forward to since the APG, even if it hasn't been announced yet.
