Boarded in the Mwangi Expanse and heat.

Serpent's Skull

If a player takes this background with the back-story that they grew up in the expanse should they still be susceptible to the heat? It makes sense that they would be acclimated but that might encourage party splitting where they go off alone while the rest of the party waits out the midday sun.

Has anyone else run into this issue? How did you deal with it?

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't let him be acclimated. Heck, I'm not even letting the cannibals be acclimated. Or the locals once the party reaches Sargava. Unless by acclimated you mean "knows enough about survival in a tropic jungle to know to take shelter from the oppressive heat and heavy downpours."

Got a druid or cleric in the party? Prepare Create Water, douse people with cold water every now and then, no problem.

I don't give my players free acclimated since I feel it's a part of the campaign. (We're about to start after having played Legacy of Fire, so they're used to the heat rules now ha).

There's a trait in LoF and I believe now the Inner Sea Primer guide that gives a character a +4 to resist the environmental heat.

I also run with a house rule on heat, I don't like the fact that it goes from 0 penalty to a +4 penalty for wearing armor. So instead, I make the penalty equal to their armor check penalty. Which is why most of the native people wear light or no armor.

That is a really well thought out house rule. Consider it swiped.

Thank you

Me too. I'm definitely swiping it as a house rule. :)
