i don't really put much effort into character names, place me in front of a translator and i could come up with wierd names in mishmashes of languages. ususally with a theme in mind. i went for the theme of night, black and darkness with Nox's name. mainly because of her affiliation with a secretive society that may as well be so obscure, most individuals are left in the dark about it and the society may as well have been dust in the wind. i find that it kind of makes sense with sufficient analysis. the same naming theme could have worked for a rogue, an illusionist, or even a kuthite priest with varying levels of coherent sense.

Well thats week one back at work done.
Wasn't as bad as I thought it could have been! Next week will be busier but it looks like overall it's not going to be the stress monster I thought I was in for.
Its a lot of hours on a lot of days, between work and study and fitness... but manageable!

Esfana is at about half-a-way from 2nd, it is unlikely she will do it in one encounter, and we don't know if we are going to do anything else before ghouls.
I know a PC can cast any spell from scrolls if such scroll contains spells from his/her spell list, but even those of higher lvls than what she can actually cast? I don't think so, have to read the rules on using scrolls again.

Took this to the OOC thread. Nox, your character doesn't know they're hemotheurges because you failed your skill check. Further, you just read the spoiler then tried to make your skill check. This leads me to perceive you as reading every spoiler whether it concerns you or not. This thought bothers me. Metagaming ruins the fun for everyone.
Edit: In the future, click on preview to see your roll's outcome and then look to see what the spoiler says.

i tried again to fix the post. i also only intend to read the spoilers that apply to me. but when you have nothing to do for hours on end, you kind of give in to reading the spoilers of others with the innocent intent of passing the time and satiating your boredom. i had no intention of metagaming.

Esfana sucks at Spellcraft, i doubt those scroll will be of any use :(
So long as you have ranks in Spellcraft, you can try.
@Zyren GM - Actually Aid and Consecrate would be at least DC 8 - base 5 + CL 3 (lowest level that a caster can cast a 2nd level spell).
Now Use Magic Device to read a scroll is DC 23. I'll try but I only have a 20% chance at success.

Sorry, but Esfana doesn't have ranks in Spellcraft, she only has 1 rank point at level with Int of 9 :(
Even giving her a bonus rank for the favored class and the human bonus point she still has 2+int = 2-1 = 1+1+1 = 3 points.
And she needed Diplomacy, Sense motive and Heal as a cleric as well
Added: only things that i can think of is doing another quest (maybe the one from the Shelyn temple) and trying to attain lvl 2, then go to the ghouls. But maybe this is metagaming ?

OH! yes, happy too, pity i'm not in the other camp, but with four active game to play and 2 to GM i'm full
yeah thats why I have held off joining an additional game, was worried I'd not have the time to do so. I reckon I could probably get away with it though - as there is a fair bit of downtime at work... though I am using that to do assignments :P
I am also idling away (out of personal interest) an E6 'Thieves/underworld' campaign. I'll probably never run it (my fellow players don't roll that way) but could make a fun pbp.
Brass knuckles, tavern brawls, little magic, dirty alleyways :p

Sounds like it would be fun. I was always a big fan of Dark Sun and this is like that.

I was a huge DarkSun fan, and ran a couple of campaigns in that setting... never got to PLAY it though. Similarly I was a big Thieves World fan from way back, but others seem not to have the same appreciation of the Rogue :p

I understand. I didn't have enough skill points to buy it either. I had to rely on UMD being able to replace it should I need it.
I can take the scrolls then in case we need them. The scrolls of Aid will work like a Cure Light Wounds + Bless and could help in the midst of a fight. We'll get by.

I think we should be ok as long as we dont go bursting into large chambers and allow them to swamp us. We just need to be strategic and draw them into OUR traps :P
The reason I suggested taking the scrolls is because it turns out that I am the only one who can attempt to use them. Gandal was saying that Esfana doesn't have Spellcraft, so she can't attempt to use the 2nd level spell scrolls. Alexite can use them on a UMD roll of 17 or higher. A slim chance, but better than none at all.

IF she memorised Read Magic, she can decipher the spell scroll, and then when she goes to cast it above her level she only needs to make a Caster Level check of (DC = scroll's caster level + 1)
Sorry, but she hasn't....as a cleric i preferred to memorize buffing spells

My point is that between us we have quite a few, maybe I keep my Resist mem'd and you take the Read Magic, that way we get all that and the semi-safe use of the scrolls too :) Maximise our firepower :p

You're both right, it is DC = spell level + 1. Shifty is also correct though in that you first need to spend a full round action deciphering each scroll with Read Magic because you can't use Spellcraft to do it. I do have Read Magic and also need to spend four full rounds deciphering all the scrolls (you can't say, 'oh, these two are the same so only one round to decipher them') before I can even attempt to use them. At this point, it will have to wait until after the current scene because it looks like it's clobberin' time!
