No problem at all, Jadd, family is much more important.
I hope your world is a bit more settled now and we are glad to have you back, but I definitely understand what rough times these have been for you. If you need any more time or there is anything we can do to make your world a little easier, feel free to speak up.

Its like the season of crisises... in one of my college classes I had a group presentation that needed recording and out of the four people in my group, I ended up recording it by myself because everybody else had issues. It seems like everyone I know has had at least one major problem in the last month, whether its illness, accidents , or some other form of misfortune.

I actually wanted to apologize. My trip was supposed to be extremely short so I didn't think it would even be noticed if I hadn't said anything, but my return flight got canceled and I was stranded an extra day. I'm going to catch up on any posts now and put up one of my own.
If things have gone quiet, Zebulon, I'll try and stir things up.
Thanks for all your patience.

Not sure where we got all slowed down during our time in town, but I hope this game still has all of your attention. Its hard for me to push things ahead when there aren't any NPCs around without big assumptions of what you guys are planning without some sort of consensus, so chime in even on unimportant decisions. That gives us direction on where the group is going and also opens things up for some intra-party RP.
Also, I know that Vanulf is mostly MIA at this point. He said he was likely to be gone for a while, so I was going to NPC him long enough for you guys to make the next trip back to town before I recruited a replacement for him. I haven't heard from a couple of the others for a while either, are you still all following along? Anything that could be suggested to be changed to bring up the interest and pace of the RP?

I do have to apologize for sort of dragging my feet the past week (and my weekend literally got pulled out from under me). Of course, to some extent I'm waiting on further input, so...
You've got my attention at least, Tarlane. It may not show much because I'm bowing to other people's suggestions, but if necessary I'll try to be a bit more proactive.

Hey all, Sorry for the extended abscence. Now I find that I'm almost 100 posts behind and am not likely to catch up anytime soon. Please go ahead and replace me as soon as possible. Tarlane, thank you for running this adventure. I just wish I had more time to explore the Delve and Buckwell's personality in more depth. To everyone else, a big round of thanks as well. I enjoyed the player interaction and look forward to playing with you again.
Good luck and good hunting,
V

Vanulf, I'm sorry to see you go though I had begun to expect that was going to be the case. I really appreciate you being stand-up about it and letting us know you need aren't going to be back in so we can get an alternate.
As for the next player, unless someone has an objection, Zeldin had mentioned someone he knew who was interested in joining up. With Vanulf officially bowing out, I'll find a way to work them in as soon as their character and background are sorted out.
| ZebulonXenos |
Sorry to hear that as well, Vanulf. Happy trails. I'm fine with bringing in a friend of Zeldin's, 'specially since it probably means a quicker turn-around on getting him into the game.
Just as a little notice, I may be getting especially slow to post on weekends. They've been bogged down and will be for at least a few more of them.

Sorry, I haven't quite been active.... I have been having a LOT of trouble with one of the college classes I am taking. I thought physics would be interesting and fun, all its been so far is overly complicated and tedious. I can get calculating what force electrons apply on each other. I don't get why they have a problem where there are twenty and we have to calculate the force applied to six specific ones by all the rest.
Though I have been very rushed lately, I have been at least checking up on what exploration was going on... just didn't see much that particularly required doing that already hadn't been done so I didn't post. Sorry again, I have just finished getting everything back under control and promise to go back to posting once a day.

I'm just trying to do a status update for everyone. I am doing a follow up with the person who will be taking Buckwell's spot through email and am hoping they will be joining us very soon, I can think of a couple good places to add them in you should find soon.
I haven't heard from Kend or Errigal in quite a bit of time. Kend, I know you mentioned above that your class was swamping you but you thought you were getting caught up. If things are just still being hectic but you expect to be back into the swing of things, please let me know.
Hopefully I'll hear from you guys soon and we can all get back into the swing of things. I do think we have a great group and I'd love to keep going as much as we are as I can.
| ZebulonXenos |
For what it's worth my silence was mostly based on waiting for people to chime in (plus I thought it was pretty clear what Zeldin and Karth were intending to do).
Kend's player seems to have fallen off the face of the boards, so to speak, but Errigal (and Kiradia/Kathrinne) are still around. Picking up another for Kend would probably be a good idea; hopefully the other two will check in sooner rather than later.
(I'm not sure what the etiquette on giving people a nudge is here; I do wish Paizo had a proper private messaging system).

Hey all, I am still here and kicking. College has been catching up with me hard now that finals are around the corner and of course my teachers are all laying on the things they don't have time for anymore. Anyway, I've also been having problems with my wishlists and them not updating properly. I think I have sorted all of that out now and am getting updates on when posts are made. I will be around more often. Also, I will check in on Kend-krid and see if he wants to continue playing. We know each other IRL so I can send him a phone later tonight or tomorrow.

Just to update everyone, I believe I have found our two replacement characters since I still haven't heard from Errigal either. The first, Larayn, has her character approved and is ready to be introduced. The second is someone I know as a very good player from another PbP and is currently running ideas by me. As it stands now, it looks like we are going to be adding two clerics(not a bad thing in this dungeon) though with very different focuses so I don't think there will be any stepping on each other's toes.
My question to you all, is there any ideas on how we will replace characters when we lose players? Even though its something of an old school dungeon and that can be expected, I was hoping to avoid the immersion bursting 'poof' where they just disappear and no one acknowledges that fact. It would make sense if they decided they simply didn't want to go back into the dungeon, but if I add new members we are going to have quite a bulky party, part of which is NPCs until you return to town again.
I suppose the other option would be a little DM fiat to show just how deadly this dungeon can be with their characters, but all of those options have their pitfalls. Feel free to voice your opinions.

Hello I am one of the new clerics.
Currently I am focusing on aiding our side and disrupting the other sides tactics. Longer term I hope to be able to wade in and get my hands dirty. The domains I've chosen focus on utility and movement so they should be useful.
for example Whispering wind will let me send messages back to the town from the dungeon so long as we remember to leave the doors open behind us.
Feel free to examine the partial sheet under the alias. the rest will be up soon.
~Occa
As far as adding/replacing characters I see three options.
First and best kill them to establish mood or as foreshadowing. A Serpents Skull game I am lurking removed 2 characters this way to highlight the fearsomeness of a nasty monster and to set the tropical undead theme of the AP.
Second wait on the swap until the party gets back to civilization. This is the most logical but can mean a delay.
Third is what my old Rolemaster Gm called the 'purple cloud'. The game had upwards of 15 characters but no more that 5-8 made any given session. So if you were there then your character was active otherwise it was assumed your character 'was doing something nearby' that had no effect on the adventure. Suspension took a hit but we didn't really care.
I suppose a fourth option would be to NPC the missing players and bring us in asap. The old prisoner gag could work well here. Perhaps we were exploring on our own or with another party and got captured/separated?
Oh and I tend to make long posts, apparently.

Welcome Occa!
Maybe 2 separate fates? Buckwell has said he will not be returning and so if his character died in a way that enhanced the story that would be interesting (though slightly less so as we are actively plotting his demise). Errigal might be back (unlikely I know) but he may just need to leave to attend pressing business once we hit the surface.

Occa, your cash was just a little off, but close enough that I'm not too worried about it.
I think you are over by 1 on skill points though. I believe you should have 5:2(class) + 2(int) + 1(favored), but it looks like you have spent 6 points.
Other than that, everything looks good. Tomorrow, I'll shoot you an email giving you a bit of info on why you might already be inside the dungeon by yourself to meet up with the group.

Gah! Checking.......<facepalm> Yup I forgot to remove the skill point in Sense Motive. Fixed. How off was the cash? I can easily remove some equipment.
Sorry about that.

Double checking the charsheet just to help out, I'm not sure what feats you've actually taken; Toughness is listed, which would give you 12 HP at this level but I imagine you were going for Cosmopolitan since that's integrated into the language list.
Apart from that, it looks good - I wouldn't get too worried about the cash because it's not a completely fresh start and a few coins disparity is really the norm.
All that said, welcome aboard.

As far as cast changes go, I'm fine with anything that's not just poofing. You're the DM so how you feel about handling a bunch of NPCs is the most important consideration, I think. Hopefully we won't lose enough people that it starts to look like a slasher fic with senseless slaughter if we go the 'illustrate the dungeon's deadliness' route.
As for introducing new characters, I think there are plenty of ways to handle that and you seem to have 'em covered.

<headdesk> can't believe I missed that. Thank you yes toughness was left over from an ealier idea. Good catch, and thanks for the welcome. Looks like a nice place here.

'But the strangest thing in the room is the fact there is a man lying comfortably of a couch across the room. A weapon stand nearby holds a club a simple cross bow and a sturdy trident, a polished buckler hanging from the tines. The man appears to be dead until a vast snore fills the room. The sound ringing of the stone walls
'On a table near the sleeping man there is a silver bowl a large straight razor and an ivory comb.' ie masterwork tools for craft: Barber. Make the players work for their coin.
Any word on the spare cleric?

Ahh, Occa, you are no longer represented by Nicholas Cage.
And while I am definitely not above a Mimic or two, it would have to have led a pretty interesting life to assume that disguising itself as a potato with wings and arms would be the best way to stay inconspicuous.
I can't decide on the Nick Cage thing. Preference?

Hey I am Chris and I will be playing the cleric Larayn. I am a newbie to this play by post stuff so I will be appreciating your help. Thanks for letting me play.
Welcome to the game. I am your fellow cleric and temporary drug addled crazy person.
Anything you need just shout out. Fearless leader is on the ball and I am available for advice and comic relief.
Hmmm I think I found a small bit missing from your character sheet. Remember you get powers from both your domains. You appear to be missing the power for your healing domain.
