So, the first fight in Sandpoint is almost done.
Longtooth flew in over the north gate only to receive two cones of cold from the flying party sorcerer and had to get away pretty quick.
He's now back at Jorgenfist nursing his wounds. It's clear the party are on their way, and he's no intention of ending up as a sorcerer's pet popsicle, so what to do.
I think Mokmurian should buff him up before the next encounter with the party, with spells like Resist Energy and Bear Endurance, possibly Stoneskin and Fire Shield. After all, Mokmurian knows that if the dragon is defeated, it's unlikely that the party will run into him the same day if he Dimension Doors back to his rooms.
Problem is - how to know when they're coming.
Perhaps Longtooth could scout the area from about 500' up ...
What do you think?

Longtooth isn't likely to give an accurate report of being beaten.
Nor are any surviving giants likely to have accurate and detailed knowledge of the opposition they met.
Mokmurian might well decide to try to find out more - if either of the lamia matriarchs survived from the earlier modules they might be tasked with the job.
But if the party are reasonably quick they should be able to get to the steps without being expected.
If they can get past there without the alarm being raised they should be able to get to the fortress without it being alerted.
Longtooth might well be flying around - looking for food if nothing elee - but he is very likely to be over-confident unless he recognises the sorcerer. Only then would it seem likely that he would seek Mokmurian's aid.

I would have thought, if nothing else, he'll get resist energy cast on him by Mokmurian before he charges into another party of adventurers.
I mean, that was quite a rude reality check for him in Sandpoint. Two rounds and he had to fly for his life!

Longtooth is a red dragon: chaotic, evil, proud and arrogant.
There is a fair chance he would be ashamed to ask for help, especially from someone who isn't an older red dragon. He may also be a little afraid of admitting weakness to Mokmurian, who sacrificed his own father, and might well sacrifice Longtooth if he thought he was more of a liability than an asset.
They aren't a group of friends working together for mutual benefit.

Maybe get his own wand/potion of resist energy? We haven't gotten to this battle yet so I'm not sure exactly what I'd do in your situation but it makes perfect sense that he'd learn from his mistakes and prepare for future encounters where this might happen, whether he knows he will face the PCs again or not.
In my game, BTW, Mokmurian already knows something about the PCs and the fact that he will face them eventually. They've screwed up his operations with the Kreegs but weren't fast enough to keep Xanesha and Lucretia from getting away with a wagonload of weapons and some ogre meatshield.
Oh. Also. One of the PCs found, palmed (rogue, of course), and is wearing a sihedron medallion. Big K hasn't learned this fact yet but will someday soon. I'm treating these as tracked resources. Lucretia had an extra for recruiting purposes and she knows it was captured by the PCs. When she reports to Mokmurian and he reports to K he'll want to find out what's happened to it. I love that.

Lucretia got killed pretty easily in my campaign but Xanesha way outpowered the PCS when she met them. She actually hardly bothered with them.
