The Book of the Dead's name in the Pathfinder setting

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Drakanav Codex is Golarion's version of the Draconomicon or 'The Book of the Dragons.

What might be Golarion's version or name for the Necromicon or 'The Book of the Dead', a reference book on the undead?

Shadow Lodge

If the Necronomicon existed on Golarion, it wouldn't be an reference book on the undead, it would be the Necronomicon that Lovecraft wrote about, full of blasphemous knowledge of the Outer Gods, Great Old Ones, and similar entities.

I never indicated that it was Lovecraft's Necronomicon. That's why I expanded on its description and referenced Draconomicon as an example.

Liberty's Edge

But given the nature of how Pathfinder has and continues to evolve, my money would be on the Lovecraftian Necronomican vice let's say the Evil Dead version.

Did I just date myself?

Actually, HPL's Necronomicon exists in the canon Golarion setting. Hooray for public domain !

Of course what I think the OP is looking for is more a looking the lines of a Book of the Dead. Something in Golarion that most likely talks about the different types of undead. Possibly containing rituals for creating them. (Which maybe is the Necronomicon as I can't remember what is supposed to be in it at the moment).

Ehh....my OP was asking about what name or *Title* such book would have in Golarion.

Right, I was trying to explain better what you were looking for as I didn't know what it was called. I should check Classic Horror Revisited.

In Gods and Magic, Urgathoa's section refers to a text called "Serving Your Hunger" written by her first blackguard, Dason.

It's a book about speaking with the dead, so "Necrotelecomnicon"

Personally I am thinking something simple and to the point.

The Black Book

Eh, I went with "The Black Book: Dhauken's Codex" (Refering to Dhauken Tor who have an excerpt in The Horror Revisited regarding inherent evil of the undead.). Thanks for the name, Krome!
Thanks for reading my topic, guys even if it got a little derailed ;P
