Ok,
I'm recreating my worlds gods now that the APG is out. I'd been using 3.5 gods and picking and choosing from different sources, but it was kind of jarring since you had one god from egypt next to a goddess from valhalla. So, I'm doing all new gods from scratch, using the pathfinder specs for how a god is defined domain wise and subdomain wise.
Here's my first two, the draconic iconics. Feed back is appreciated.
First pass at them. Hectet's credo is a bit weak, but then again, he's nuttier than a fruitcake, so his credo's not going to be very consistent. :) I'm basically setting these two up as the two sides of the same dragon. As if one Neutral dragon had somehow been split into two dragons, one LG and the other CE.
Sobet
Goddess of Dragons, Winged Goddess, Metallic Queen
Alignment: Lawful Good
Power: Deity
Symbol: Dragon in Flight
Favored Weapon: Claws
Domains: Good, Law, Magic, Nobility, Strength
Subdomains: Arcane, Archon, Azata, Divine, Leadership, Resolve
Worshipers: Good Dragons, Paladins, Humans, Good Lizardfolk, Good Kobolds, Good reptilians
Bane: Evil Dragons
Credo: All that is wrong with the world follows from evil and chaos. Do that which is right, even if it is hard. The fact that it is hard tells ye that it is right and good. Evil is rooted in taking the easy path, in the idea that the ends justify the means. Do not ever let thyself be fooled, lest ye be lost. Always honor those who have dominion over ye, and treat those ye have dominion over with fairness and compassion. Protect the weak from the excess of those who are strong but evil. Ye are a model for others, do not show them weakness, instead show them the strength of thy resolve and inspire them with thy courage and leadership.
Description: Somet is a massive dragon with metallic scales, each scale alternates with the next in the following sequence : Gold, Silver, Brass, Copper, Bronze. The scales are offset so that no scale ever touches another of the same type (no gold ever touches gold, etc). She has a row of platinum fins that protrude from her back, each wickedly sharp, and adamantine spikes on her tail.
Organization: Despite being lawful, Somet has no organized church structure. She believes in the need for each of her followers to prove their worth through deeds, not through worldly power and structures. The few temples to her tend to be humanoid constructs, no dragon would bother with constructing a temple to her. There are holy sights which are blessed by Somet, however. These are usually the sights where one of her followers has performed some great deed for good.
Pantheon: Somet is not a member of any pantheon, although many non-dragons mistakenly call her the 'good dragon' of the 'draconic pantheon'. Saying such to one of her followers is very much an insult, as it groups her in with her sworn enemy, her brother Hectat.
Hectet
God of Dragons, Winged Madness, Chromatic King
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Power: Deity
Symbol: Draconic maw crushing a bleeding heart
Favored Weapon: Fangs
Domains: Chaos, Evil, Madness, Trickery, War
Subdomains: Blood, Daemon, Deception, Insanity, Nightmare, Protean
Worshipers: Evil Dragons, Anti-Paladins, Humans, Evil Lizardfolk, Evil Kobolds, Evilreptilians
Bane: Good Dragons
Credo: Somet is the enemy of all you would have. That which you can take is yours by right. That which you can't take but can destroy is also yours by right. Take all that is yours by right. Death in battle is a glory to savor, be it your own or your enemy's! Drink a toast to your downed enemy from his own skull and celebrate another day of proving that you are master of all you survey! There is no such thing as honor or dishonor, that is a trick by those who are weak to steal that which is rightfully yours! Seize any and every advantage you can to prove yourself worthy as my follower!
Description: Hectet is a massive dragon with chromatic scales, each scale alternates with the next in the following sequence : Black, Red, Blue, Green, and White. The scales are offset so that no scale ever touches another of the same type (no black ever touches black, etc). He has a row of diamond spikes that protrude from his back, each razor sharp. His maw is full of diamond fangs as well, each sharp and strong enough to pierce any defense. His eyes whirl with a deep-rooted madness that will overtake and drive insane any mortal that dares look him in the eye.
Organization: Hectet has no organized religion, yet despite that, his followers never seem to die out. Every chromatic dragon that is evil follows him, lusting after the power and wealth the ancient god has amassed. Each evil dragon is said to have some measure of their progenitor's madness in their soul. The most organized of his followers are cults and, curiously enough, evil kobolds. Despite their lawful nature, many kobolds worship this manifestation of madness and insanity.
Pantheon: Hectet is not a member of any pantheon, although many non-dragons mistakenly call him the 'evil dragon' of the 'draconic pantheon'. Saying such to one of his followers is very much an insult, as it groups him in with his sworn enemy, his sister Somet. Most never make this mistake more than once, as they are often offered up as a sacrifice to Hectet. After a few days of torture of course.

This basically reads as Bahamut and Tiamat with a gender swap. Instead of the Devouring Mother we have the Nice Lady and instead of the Kindly Grandfather we have the Powerdrunk Tyrant.
Since it's homebrew, why not just use Bahamut and Tiamat as written? Wizards may not have released them with the SRD but for your home game, who cares?

Granted, these two are similar. The rest won't be. That was semi intentional.
This lets most of the old WoTC draconic gear stay the same. You'll notice, however, that while Somet is similar to Bahamut, Hectet is pretty much insanity personified. Tiamat was nasty, but she wasn't insane, per se. She was very cold and ruthless and had no qualms about doing anything she wanted, but she wasn't insane. I need to work on Hectet's credo some more to show that. What I really want for him is that he's the essence of pure undiluted chaos and insanity.
Hmm, I think perhaps I need to give him multiple personality disorder. One for each of his five domains (and associate each domain with a color). Then in my world I can associate each color of dragon with aspects of that domain.
Can do the same for Somet, but not the multiple personality disorder. Just associate each metallic dragon with one of her domains, so they each have an overriding theme.
Hmmm....
Ok, how about this :
Gold : Good
Silver : Lawful
Brass : Nobility
Bronze : Strength
Copper : Magic
Black : Evil
Blue : Chaos
Green : Trickery
Red : War
White : Madness

Ok,
Slightly changed. Here's the new relevant bits, didn't repost the whole thing to save space.

The scales are offset so that no scale ever touches another of the same type (no gold ever touches gold, etc). She has a row of platinum fins that protrude from her back, each wickedly sharp, and adamantine spikes on her tail.
Each of the five metallic dragon types has a strong affinity for one of Somet's five domains. Gold dragons are strongly aligned with Good, and tend to be more charitable to the lesser races than any other dragon. Silver dragons are strongly aligned with Law, and are often extremists in their pursuit of those who lie to or steal from them. Brass dragons are strongly aligned with Nobility, and often have personal codes of chivalry. Bronze dragons are strongly aligned with Strength, and will be most well disposed towards others who value strength, such as barbarians and fighters. Copper dragons are strongly aligned with Magic, and are one of the primary forces behind draconic bloodlines in sorcerers, constantly teaching humans and occasionally falling for one and forming families with them.
Hectet
Credo: Destroy that which is good! Take what is yours! Destroy that which attempts to limit you with rules! Rules do not apply to you! Why are you staring at me! I will destroy you worm! No, I didn't mean it, really. You're a fine being, and I can help you achieve that which you want, just come with me and let me teach you and help you! Gird up your weapons, worm! We go forth to glory and battle today! Today is a good day to die!

His eyes whirl with a deep-rooted madness that will overtake and drive insane any mortal that dares look him in the eye. He is, of course, quite insane. He has five personalities, each aligned with one of his domains. Exactly which personality is in charge from one moment to the next can change with no outward sign.
Each of the five chromatic dragon types has a strong affinity for one of Hectet's five domains. Black dragons are strongly aligned with Evil, and are the most likely to kill any lesser race on sight. Blue dragons are strongly aligned with Chaos, and vastly enjoy reducing lesser races to barbaric savagery by plotting and attacking the pillars of law that hold the society together. Green dragons are strongly aligned with Trickery, and often work behind the scenes to obtain power in the mortal world, be it through theives or assassins guilds they run in human guise, or through being the true power behind the throne of a despot. Red dragons are strongly aligned with War, and revel in battle, attacking any worthy adversary, or destroying unworthy ones in the hopes of attracting a worthy opponent. White dragons are strongly aligned with Madness, most are insane in some way, and most are extremely dangerous to be around. A white dragon may call you friend one second, and eat you the next, all while calmly talking to your compatriot who is now his best friend.

If I remember correctly, in most of the references to gold dragons it shows them as being primarily lawful, then good. Silver dragons are the ones who are generally considered good, then lawful.
Gold Dragons = LAWFUL good
Silver Dragons = lawful GOOD
At least in the stuff I read that actually had the dragons as character in the books.

Hmm, and I seem to remember it the other way around. :) I guess I read more on the Asianic dragons, where Gold dragons are Lung dragons (if I'm not mixing up my names now) which are good, but not necessarily lawful.

Bast
Goddess of Cats, Wise Protector, Jade Eyes
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Power: Deity
Symbol: Four claws
Favored Weapon: Claws
Domains: Animal, Community, Knowledge, Law, Protection
Subdomains: Archon, Defense, Family, Fur, Home, Memory
Worshipers: Catfolk, Inquisitors, Druids, Paladins, Fighters
Bane: Chaos
Credo: That which is family is most important, cherish those and protect those who are close to your heart. Your home and your community are to be protected and cherished second only to your family. Remember the past, so that you will not suffer from the mistakes you and your ancestors have made before. Be not willfully ignorant, for those who ignore that which is around them cannot protect those that they love. There will be those who tell you that what they are doing is for the greater good. That way lies the destruction of what you hold dear, do not be fooled by them. Those that are evil will attempt to seduce you away from those who are close to your heart, and when they have done so they will prey on those you hold dear, do not be fooled by them.
Description: Bast takes the form of any feline she chooses, but her ears always have a pair of green jade earrings that match her slitted jade green eyes, no matter what her form. When she appears as a cat, she is almost always larger than the largest of the cat she appears as, a tiger the size of a horse, or a house cat the size of a cougar. On the few occasions she takes non-feline form, she appears as a tall elegant catfolk with jade green eyes and dangling jade earrings.
Organization: Temples of the Cat Goddess will be wherever there are catfolk. The goddess is too feline to be tied down to a large church hierarchy, but she is too lawful to forsake them entirely. And so her temples tend to be very organic, fitting into whatever surroundings they are in. That is not to say they are not immediately recognizable, the goddess would never have a slovenly temple. Her temples are always masterpieces of construction and decor, but they never jar against the surroundings either. Each is as unique and beautiful as the goddess herself. She has no organization of clergy beyond what each temple has. The larger the temple, the higher the cleric or priestess that officiates at it.
Pantheon: Bast is not a member of any pantheon, although it is rumored that she was at one time in the past, however any proof of such an affiliation has been lost in the webs of time.

I would have actually gone with Blue/Trickery, seeing as how Blues are desert dragons, and deserts seem to have an illusionary quality associated with them.
Yep, I thought about making them trickery when I changed to accomodate them being Lawful Evil, but, then that also kills trickery.

Tell that to the devils with the misleading contracts.
Trickery doesn't necessarily mean being a sociopath with a clown fetish. Yeah, that works for the Joker, but there are tons of trickster devils who delight in playing their tricks exactly within the letter of the law.

Oh, I know. I just felt that between Green and Blue, green's somehow felt more 'tricky' than blues did. Not sure why, maybe it's all the Riddler episodes of Batman when I was little. :)
White just screamed 'crazy' at me, and red screamed War (odd that huh?) :). Black had to be Evil. So... blue or green for trickery, and of the two, green seemed more tricky.

Finally finished my Elven Pantheon. Any feedback appreciated if I missed something obvious. I wanted the elves and drow tied together a little more than in most campaigns, and I wanted explanations for their existence that fit more with how they act.
It's always bothered me that drow are chaotic evil, but yet they act lawful if there is more than two around. Even WoTC had to put a blurb in Drow of the Underdark about this contradiction. I just didn't like how they handled it. So, in my game world drow are LE, not CE, and all the supplements for them fit just perfect with that alignment.
I know elves are normally portrayed as more chaotic as well, but honestly they too behave more neutral than chaotic, so I bumped them to more neutral (other than the Runelord).
Roflar Horandrin
The Green One, Father of the Woods, Sojurner of the Wilds
Alignment: True Neutral
Power: Deity
Symbol: A large oak with a winding road leading from it.
Favored Weapon: Bow (Long or Short)
Domains: Animals, Earth, Plants, Strength, Travel
Subdomains: Caves, Decay, Exploration, Fur, Growth, Resolve
Worshipers: Elves, Druids, Sylvan creatures
Bane: Destruction
Credo: Do not be drawn into the dramas and turmoils that my parents would have you be embroiled in. Nor should you listen to my sister, no matter how honeyed her words are. Balance is the key, not the victory of dark or light, chaos nor order. Leave unto the city that which is the city's. Protect the natural places, seek out and learn about the wilds. Use your power to ensure their protection. Do not be so blind that you do not recognize the difference between natural death and wanton destruction.
Description: Roflar is, for an elf, rather short. His skin is bronzed from the sun, and his hair is a shade of green that is usually found only in the depest of forests. Brown eyes watch the world through shades of gray that never actually become truly good or evil. He usually wears furs of animals on his form, and a long and short bow on his back.
Roflar is the son of Sincara and Silvaren, and brother to Sithana. While the rest of his family was self destructing, his father growing more and more jealous, his mother ignoring the signs, and his sister idolizing her increasingly unstable father, only Roflar stood aloof, growing more and more distant from all his relatives. By the time the schizm occurred, he had given up on following in his parents and sister's paths. Instead, he forged one of his own, following the ways of nature.
Organization: Most elven druids follow Roflar, he is also popular with certain elven barbarian tribes for the barbarians appreciate the heavily muscled Roflar's reliance on his own strength. Roflar's followers are rarely organized, as he does not care enough about the trappings of religion to form an official one. Most of his clergy are clerics, druids, or oracles.
Pantheon: Roflar Horandrin is a member of the Elven Pantheon.
Silvarin Nehadrin
The First Elf, The Dark Warrior, Lord of the Drow, Master of the Deep
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Power: Deity
Symbol: Crossed Swords on a blood-red moon
Favored Weapon: Drow Long Sword (MW Bastard Sword, one-handed)
Domains: Earth, Evil, Glory, Law, War
Subdomains: Blood, Caves, Devil, Honor, Metal, Tactics
Worshipers: Drow, Evil Elves, Fighters, Assassins, Warriors, Inquisitors
Bane: Sun
Credo: I am the progenitor of the elves, and they are my children. Drow or elf, all are of my blood, and all will return to me or feel my wrath. Prove yourselves on the battlefield my children, show those base pale degenerate cousins which live on the surface that you are the true inheritors of the elven heritage. As for the lesser races, unless they can prove their worth dispose of them, or use them as your slaves, as you choose. Those without the strength to stand up to you have no honor and deserve no compassion.
Description: Silvaren is a tall dark skinned elf, or Drow, if you prefer. His bone white hair is tied back in a warriors braid. His left eye is as icy blue and cold as the deepest ice. The right, though, is a malevalent red, with a sword scar that aches in daylight. He normally wears heavy plate armor, and wields a blade he made for himself, a Drow Long Sword (a MW bastard sword, used one-handed).
Silvaren was the first elf, just ask him. Even the elves will admit he was once the progenitor of the elven species, although they will not be happy to admit it. Silvaren and his wife, Sincala, were the first elves. He of the dark skin and bone white hair, her of the pale flesh and dark hair. Two sides of the same coin. But, as their children spread out and multiplied, their offspring came to care more for their mother than their father, and Silvarin's jealousy was grew and tainted his heart as dark as his skin. Finally, he confronted his wife, weapon in hand, and challenged her to battle for the soul of their children.
Sincala, in tears, fought the love of her life, but their daughter Sithana intervened on her mother's behalf. Silvaren, defeated, vowed that he would never give up, calling the fight dishonorable due to Sithana's intervention, he took those of their children that felt like him, which were mostly those who had his looks, and took them underground. Thus the Drow were born. In ancient elven, Drow meant 'Self Exiled'. The more modern translation is 'Cursed Ones'.
Organization: All Drow cities have temples to Silvaren, and only Silvaren. Silvaren still has a taste for females, and almost all his priestesses are female. This has resulted in an odd dichotomy, for despite Silvaren's disdain and hatred of his wife and daughter, the power in his followers is most held by the females. Many of his followers, if not clerical, are inquisitors. Many Drow fear nothing so much as the leather clad Inquisitor's of The Dark God, who seek out those who would foment descension or heresy. Those who would flee the Dark God's grip have only the hope of finding a cult of Sithana to help them.
Pantheon: Silvaren Nehadrin is a member of the Elven Pantheon.
Sincala Horandris
Elf Mother, Glorious Dawnbringer, Queen of the Elves, Sky Queen and Bringer of Seasons
Alignment: Neutral Good
Power: Deity
Symbol: The sun rising over a green forest
Favored Weapon: A golden mace
Domains: Air, Good, Magic, Sun, Weather
Subdomains: Arcane, Angel, Cloud, Day, Divine, Seasons
Worshipers: Elves, Druids, Rangers
Bane: Darkness
Credo: The heavens oversee the earth, they are above it. While we draw strength from the earth, without the sky all would be barren earth. Protect your forests, watch the sky to see my love for you my children. Beware of hatred for your cousins who are misled by the dark one, show mercy and help those that would seek to leave behind the darkness and join you in the light. If you ever feel weary, or think that it is hopeless, turn your face to the sky and feel the warmth of the sun, the coolness of the shade of a cloud, the touch of air upon your face, and know that each is a sign of my love for you.
Description: Sincala is a tall fae elf who appears to be, if she were human, in her mid 30's. She is tall and regal, with long black hair that falls in waves down her shoulders. She normally wears golden or blue gowns that go well with her green eyes.
Sincala was the first of the elves, along with her husband, Silvaren. She adored her husband, and there is some evidence she still has feelings for him, despite their history. Her loving ways drew many of their children to her, and those children took on her aspects, her pale skin, her fae ways. However, as their children multiplied, Silvaren's jealousy grew, and his love for his wife was slowly eaten away as he spiraled into a cycle of jealousy and hatred.
It was one day when walking amongst his children that he saw them raising a temple to his wife, one that was larger and more ornate than his own, that something within him snapped. He stormed into the home they shared and challenged her to a duel. Her heart breaking, Sincala tried to talk him out of it, but he refused, and advanced on her, his weapon drawn. Unable to see, the mother of elves grabbed for the first thing she could, a golden mace that Silvaren had made for her, and then the two fought. The fight was long and noisy, Silvaren unable for some reason to kill his own wife, and Sincala unable to kill her husband.
Into this fight their daughter, Sithana walked. Appauled, she drew her curve blade and attacked her father in her mother's defense, drawing blood and leaving him scarred. He cursed her and her mother, and vowed never again to stand in the light until he was the only god of the elves. He stormed out, taking his followers with him into the dark crevaces beneath the earth.
Organization: All elven cities have temples to Sincala, but she is not one to have vast churches with ranks. Her clerics are rather varied, and even count quite a few paladin's amongst their number.
Despite her plea for her children to forgive their brethren beneath the earth, most elves have nothing but hatred for their dark brethren. Those few who do not may worship Sithana, or at least give her worshipers the benefit of the doubt.
Pantheon: Sincala Horandris is a member of the Elven Pantheon.
Sithana Nehandris
Dark Protector, Goddess of Life, The Silver Princess, Goddess of the Tear
Alignment: Neutral Good
Power: Deity
Symbol: A silver shield with a half moon.
Favored Weapon: An elven curve blade
Domains: Charm, Good, Healing, Liberation, and Protection.
Subdomains: Archon, Defense, Freedom, Love, Purity, Restoration
Worshipers: Good Drow, Fighters, Paladins, Cavaliers
Bane: Destruction
Credo: You will be distrusted my brothers and sisters. The world shall turn it's hand against you wherever you turn. Do not let this poison your heart as it did our father. Remember in your heart that you may be all that stands between your brothers and sisters and the hordes of evil. Love your brothers and sisters, and protect them from all that would harm them. If you can redeem a lost brother or sister, then you have shown the truest of victories over our father. Your enemies are not those who follow our father, it is those who would deny them the freedom to choose to leave him. Those who would deny anyone freedom from selfish reasons are your enemy, and it is these you should show no mercy. All others, especially the meek and weak you should protect and heal, even if they spit on you or show hostility towards you. Know that it is not you they fear, it is our accursed father who has poisoned them. Show that not all of dark skin are dark of heart.
Description: Sithana is, like all her brood, tall with long bone white hair, fine features, and skin the shade of night. Unlike most of her kind, she did not follow her father into darkness and evil, and thus she has no fear of the sun. Her eyes, a deep violet the shade of royal robes, look out with a stern kindness. She wears silver chain, and carries a silver shield and curve blade at all times.
Sithana is a dichotomy, in all she does. She is stern and fierce in combat, like her father, but is also caring and loving out of combat. Those who would use and abuse their fellows, or those weaker than them, she kills without mercy. At the same time, any who have fallen to her, but repent, she is equally happy to heal. Those who are weak, and know no better, she will forgive for even the most racist of insults. Those who flatter her, but show not respect for life, she will cut down without hesitation.
Sithana stopped a duel between her parents when she was yet still a girl of tender years (for a goddess). The ensuing destruction of her home has left her with a permanent slightly sad air, as she eternally mourns the death of the man who was once her father, and despairs at the creature of evil that has taken his place.
Organization: Few cities, elven or drow, have temples to Sithana. Sithana is forever trapped between the evil of her father, which everyone see's in her features, and the goodness of her mother, which she espouses.
Most of Sithana's priesthood are either clerics or oracles. However, she also has a sizable cadre of paladins.
Pantheon: Sithana Nehandris is a member of the Elven Pantheon.
Telvan Sandora
Runelord, Thief of Divinity, Telvan the Thief
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Power: Demigod
Symbol: A gold coin with a magic rune embossed
Favored Weapon: Rapier
Domains: Chaos, Magic, Trickery, and Runes
Subdomains: Arcane, Deception, Language, Thievery, Protean
Worshipers: Elves, Rogues, Wizards, Sorcerers, Bards, Summoners
Bane: Law
Credo: Knowledge is your best friend. Learn all that you can, and never cease to learn more, if you want to keep your hands. If you can take it, it belonged to you anyway. Leave it to the barbarians to take by force, that proves nothing. If you can be enjoying your gains while the previous owner still thinks they own it, then you truly own it. Never strike twice in the same place, and never use the same method twice. Don't be predictable, for that way lies death for one such as you. Master all languages, for you never know when an overheard conversation can lead to fortune.
Description: Telvan is an elf of some accomplishment. He appears as he did when he was mortal, a devastatingly handsome young elf with golden locks and bright blue eyes. His is the face of an earnest and sincere young man, but the heart of a professional con man. He wears whatever clothing he wants, and never wears the same thing twice. The only constant is his face and the rapier at his side.
Telvan is a latecomer to godhood. As a mortal, he was a runemage, using language and runic magic to enhance his other professional abilities, those of a master thief. An unusual profession for an elf, but one he excelled at. Despite his young age, he made a real name for himself, enough so that at least 5 different kings were offering bounties for his head. Rather than end up with his head on a pike, he bent his talents to tracking down the cursed Doomtree, an ancient tree that has 100 fruits on it. Of those 100 fruits, 99 are poisonous in some way, and will destroy the one who eats it. The 100th, however, once consumed, will make you a god. Once that fruit is picked and eaten, all the poisonous fruit falls off and rots, and the fruits grow out again, but this time the fruit that makes you a god is a different one that the last time. Telvan rifled the greatest libraries of the world and stole the best knowledge he could, even managing to steal information from a god, and then was able to determine how to know the right fruit. Upon consuming it, he rose to Demigodhood.
Organization: Temples to the runethief are not exactly appreciated in most cities. However, they are almost always there. The thieves guild operates several. Most of his clergy are either clerics, thieves, wizards or a combination thereof. He is too chaotic to go in for organization in any way, so each temple tends to stand alone, and his followers are very independent and self reliant.
Pantheon: Telvan Sandora is a member of the Elvin Pantheon (much to the embarassment of the other members). However, as the newest member of the panthon, he often ends up the go-between for the others, being at least seen as a neutral third party.
