Things learned today:
1. There are a lot of bones in the skull. Also, my lab partners are squeamish about bones. Which meant I pretty much got to handle the skull as much as I needed to learn all of those bones.2. Even if you're good at math, long-division of polynomials is still crazy-making.
3. Coconut water tastes gross. Sounded good. Still tastes gross. Will never buy again.
LR
1- The amount of bones in the skull fascinate me!
2- I still hate math. Almost as much as I hate Joss Whedon. Maybe more. You never forget your first hate.
3- The key to coconut water is that it needs to be mixed with something- by itself its relatively awful, although it quenches thirst like nothing I've ever encountered before.

Well, Tom was caught by surprise in the morning rush hour, when heavy snow started to fall and made him regret choosing to borrow his grandmother's motorized wheelchair to get to work. Meanwhile, after months of speculation, Scott and Sarah decided to name their future child after an obscure, yet highly praised practitioner of acupuncture. And, across town, the snow caused havoc with the local playhouse performance of Pat.....No, wait! That's my soap opera.

Same here in Philly. It might change to rain sometime later today, but it'll go back to snow (and more of it apparently) later this evening and overnight.
So I may have to shovel when I get home today, and will most likely have to shovel tomorrow before going in to work.

I'm just promoting how sunny and beautiful Colorado can be.
No one wants to see my "manscape"!
(with some exceptions that I won't share unless in person with several beers)

Coconuts always make me think of Malibu and orange juice. This is one of the best social lubricants ever invented!

Finished Flight of the Red Raven last night. It was a good adventure, but didn't mesh with our group. However, great treasure haul! :D
On a side note, hubby totally fudged one of MY rolls last night when I critted on the first hit of the BBEG fight and totally killed the bad guy, one hit, from the druid. Needless to say, he was disappointed and fudged dudes HP's. :P

Keep that white stuff a-comin'!!! If we get enough of it, I may not have to go to the second job today!
*sigh* I just realize now what that sounded like.
Someday I must find out what the second job is.

I do outreach/surveys for studies on sex, primarily in msm nightclubs. More recently there have been new studies added to the roster that need bisexual and heterosexual individuals, so now my job has gone from talking to gay men about sex to talking to *everyone* about sex, which I am quite ecstatic about.

Dammit. Sick of feeling sick. :-/
This crud better pass before the Con this weekend.
Being sick sucks. :(
Japanese cold bugs really kicked my ass when I was there. Every cold had me shivering for two days with a high fever, and a week of misery leading into and out of that horrible two day period.
But on the bright side, I've only been sick on average once every two years since then. I hope my strengthened immune system keeps it up! It's been over 8 years since I left, and I haven't had so much as a cold in almost 2 years.
Edit: I just realized that means I'm about due...

Might I suggest that you get some Vitamin C tablets in the 500-1000 mg value. Taking 2000-3000 mg daily will help suppress the cold virus ffrom taking effect. At least it always works that way for me.
Just my 2 cp.

I don't know...those colds sucked. Plus then I'd have to go to the horror that is a Japanese doctor. ::shudders::
One of the funnier moments was when I tried to call in sick. I call the school. Kocho-sensei answers. "Moshi moshi?"
"Byouki desu." (I'm sick)
"Dare desu ka?" (Who is this?)
"Jessica Door." (Spoken in normal American accent)
"Dare?" (Who?)
"Anou...'je-shi-ka do-ah'?" (Spoken with a Japanese accent)
"Nani? Dare?" (What? Who?)
....ten attempts at saying my name in various Japanese and American pronunciations later, I finally break all the rules of proper etiquette and refer to myself with an honorific:
"Jeshika-sensei!"
"Ah! Hai, wakarimashita!"
grrrrrr.

No need, no need. Just call someone who doesn't speak English up and try to convey a very simple piece of information. :)
But seriously, JET is open to anyone under...I think it's 35.
Either that, or join a local JETAA group for the occasional drunken karaoke and pretend you were there too. :D
I just found the local JETAA chapter here in Houston and found out they're hosting a Shinnenkai about 2 blocks south of where I live in two weeks. Walking distance! Whoo!

So tired and I don't know why. I went to bed early last night, got a whole seven hours. I was less tired last week when I was barely getting five hours a night. Grrr.
Also I don't have a good feeling about the day. Took kidlet to the doctor this morning and he was very upset about the change in routine. And then freaked out because parts of the exam meant that he had to be touched in ways he didn't like.(He can be abnormally sensitive to pressure in several areas of his body such as his neck and belly.)And then I had to send him to school right after. And didn't have enough time to stay and help him transition because I was running late for my class too. :/
Also we have to go to super expensive pediatric psychiatrist again because the pediatrician can't prescribe anti-anxiety meds, which aren't usually given to children anyways. But he's going to hurt himself or someone else during one of his panic attacks if we can't find a way to deal with them, so it looks like we'll have to scrape up a couple hundred dollars from somewhere. Insurance not covering treatment for autism really, really sucks. :(

Hommous with meat and lentil soup for lunch. One perk about Metro Detroit - lots of good middle eastern food in proximity. :)
Yeppers. And also an abundance of middle eastern grocery stores to go with that. :)
Which can make for a nice change of pace sometimes since almost all of the restaurants are Lebanese food and sometimes I really prefer other types of middle eastern food.

...and working together in the kitchen! Playfully dusting each other with unbleached flour. Don't forget that image!

Clearly, I am building a trusting relationship with Joss Whedon so that when I do inevitably betray him to a horrible, screaming death, the look on his face is that much more priceless. I mean, DUH! It's obvious!!!!

On that first part, I live in Brooklyn, so I'm used to everyone not speaking the same version of English I do. Sometimes it's hilarious, other times its frustrating, still other times it leads to me getting food other than what I ordered(which is occasionally delicious).
For the latter parts, I know there are a few Japanese organizations in Manhattan that are quite large- it's just a matter of making time to get to one or more of them.
