Tomorrow morning, my ship will receive a visit from the Board of Inspection and Survey, which has been charged by Congress since 1882 to "ensure that the ships of the United States Navy are properly equipped for prompt, reliable, sustained mission readiness at sea."
These visits take place every 5 years. INSURV, as we call it, lasts 3 or more days and is the biggest inspection a ship gets.
My department has worked very hard for the past several months to get ready and I think we are. At this point, I just need my equipment to work during the underway demonstration. Being that my equipment consists of highly technical combat systems, communications gear, and computers, I am all too aware that things can go wrong, even if my people are doing things right.
So, any positive vibes you can spare for my ship and crew would be greatly appreciated. If this goes well, life will get much easier for the rest of the year. If not...well, I don't want to think about that...
As always, I hope everyone is doing well.
Cheers!
ParisPositive vibes and death to gremlins!
I know how rough those inspections can be (at least the Army versions were pretty nawsty) Best of luck Paris!
Having been on the inspecting end of an INSURV inspection, I feel for you Paris. Still, I'm sure you guys will do great.

Finished up my brewing for today - a nice Irish Stout. Hoping it turns out OK. Now I'm waiting for my dinner to finish cooking. And after I eat, I might do a movie night - Dark City, or finally start reading Prince of Wolves.
Dark City was good, but I'd recommend Prince of Wolves. It's a quick read, but well worth it.
One warning about the book, though: Every odd chapter is from the perspective of Varian, and every even chapter is from the perspective of Radovan. It's a little jarring until you get used to it.

Also, if anyone starts giving shit about alignment or arcane casting on any of the threads north of here, just post this. It'll shut them up.

Good call Shiny. I think a nice quiet night of reading will be just the thing. Thanks.

Funny part is, I was making those for years before I read Dragonlance.
Do you season yours with Brainsss or Spinal Cords??

Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning. Or, sometimes, Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning (and, yes, it's really called that).

Hey Aberzombie did you get the minis report a few pages back. I did indeed get a couple will o' wisps I got 3 from my 3 cases. It is a good sculpt, unfortunately it seems to be a rare mini.
Yeah, I noticed. When I ordered some singles from Miniature Market the other day, I put in for a quantity of 10 Will O'Wisps. That should be enough.

Clerks
Mallrats
Chasing Amy
Dogma
Jay and Silent Bob Strike back
Clerks IISome of which is streaming from Netflixs.

That hardly seems enough.

That sounds so nice. I think after I am done with dinner and finishing up one of my minis I might sit down and finally start A Darkness at Sethanon .

Wow, I did everything but drop my pants. Sadness. I guess my minis are gone for good.

~sighs~ So tired. I do not want to do this last callout, but it will be worth it. ~sighs~ 10+ callouts over the weekend will wear you out, especially when you only get less than 5 hours sleep per day. I hate it when they wake me up in the middle of my night. ~sighs` Oh well. Time to stop whining and get it done.

Just started reading "Carrion Comfort" by Dan Simmons. Like everything else of his, I'm sensing that by the end, I'll be wanting to commit suicide.

That looks to be an interesting book. I might need to pick that up.
