PDF and download question

Kingmaker

I've been receiving the Kingmaker books since they started coming out, as a birthday present from a friend (and partially funded by my wife). Sooner or later, I will start DM'ing this.

I understand there are also PDF copies available for download. Am I correct in assuming that my friend is the only one able to download these? Are they marked in any way that they cannot be transferred? That is, can I use his account to download them, shift them to a memory stick and move them to my PC?

If he is the subscriber then the pdfs are available through his account and he can download them. They will have his order number, name, email id and the date it was downloaded on each page.

Well, he downloaded all 4 and transferred them to my computer, and it seemed to work.

"well, he downloaded all 4 to a / his computer, and is printing them out for me to use for the sessions only, and i will return the print outs after", may sound better!!

There is no copy protection. Copying isn´t legal though.

Yeah..... That's not really kosher. Sure you can do it, but that doesn't mean that should do it.

If someone gets a Pathfinder AP for a friend as a gift, and then gives that person the hard copy and the PDF, that's fine. Technically, the gift giver should probably delete the PDF from his/her computer once the file's been transferred over to the lucky recipient of the gift.

We don't have copy protection on them beyond the watermarks and all that. If a file ends up on a torrent site or publicly posted or otherwise mass-distributed, we can tell who that file came from.

But we have no problem at all with the concept of someone giving a friend a hardcopy/PDF combo as a gift. (Again, just as you give up the hard copy when you give it away, you should do the same with the PDF is all.)

Well, he hadn't downloaded them until I asked, so there weren't extra copies floating around. I haven't checked that he has deleted them yet, but I will ask.
