I'm watching it for this alone.
I hate to say it, but beyond Buffy, what career?

+1 - the only way I want to watch Sarah is if she returns to film and gets naked and buck wild!! Maybe she could be a guest on True Blood and have a vampiric lesbian scene with Anna Paquin! Now, that would be something to see!!!!

But Smurfs? Are you kidding me? Who the hell wants to watch that sh!t?

No, he did not.

You can deny it all you want but I can guarantee 90% of people of ages 25-45, when they saw trailers for Avatar, thought "Huh, giant Smurfs."
That's nothing: 105% of people of all ages who read the script thought "Huh, Pocahontas remake."

Oh yeah, well 30% of people thought, "Huh, a Fern Gully remake?" (Not as many people remember Fern Gully without being reminded)

As if Avatar was as well-plotted or well-acted as the average Smurfs cartoon....
+1

(On the way to Pandora)

"How much further, Doctor Grace?"
"Not far now, my little Avatars"

"How much further, Doctor Grace?"
"Not far now, my little Avatars"

"How much further, Doctor Grace?"
"It's VERY FAR, my little Avatars"

(If you thought that was annoying to Papa Smurf when they just went on a short trip, imagine Dr. Augustine on a trip of several light years...)

That's funny, because FernGully doesn't just resemble the Avatar (the Pandora one) in plot, it's subtitle resembles the Avatar series (FernGully - The Last Rainforest)

insane! why we must destroy this, burn it, and erm... also burn all the smurfs in this thread

(i know, i know i'll be a smurf too, hell no one can win)

I'd rather gather them in half-dozens and turn them into gold!

We shall oversmurf!

Say hello to Big Smurfa.

The Smurf's Revolution's way to show what we think about your ideas.

You will be desmurfitêtet!

hey the good news is that pee wee herman is acting again. I didn't care for the smurfs as a kid so it's no big deal for me now, however a gummi bears movie would be awesome.

Well, there's always this.

I want that film, for real.

And the script! The Muppets Take Manhattan meets Home Alone 2 meets Stuart Little 2 in a blender?! Oh bliss upon bliss! If only I could inject this shimmery blue celluloid concoction directly into the vein leading to my brain!

In keeping line with Hollywood, they wanted the smurfts to be edgy for today's audience...

Just saw this rant/commentary by the screenwriter who was tasked with writing for the Fraggle Rock film. He's complaining how the studio came back saying the script needed to be edgier...
Edgy... Fraggle Rock?! Nooooo!!!!

Wow. Never seen a blog make its point so convincing with its hyperlinks.

Silver Crusade

Just an experiment; schtroumpf

This was my exact thought when I first watched it.

BTW, loved Fern Gully.

Spoilers! Spoilers!

Jesus! that movie is like 10 years old now, I'm not going to spoil that, either you weren't interested in seeing it and my non-spoilered info made you change your mind, or you were interested in seeing it, which means by now you've seen it. If you're indiferent (the only reason you wouldn't have seen it by now) then it doesn't matter.

I'm also not going to spoil that Vader is Luke's Father, You can't look at the Ark of the Covenant, and they still lose the trial in to kill a mockingbird.

Your answer made me lol.

Liberty's Edge

Paul Ryan wrote:

No, that was the Muppets' interpretation of "Dances with Wolves".

The Exchange

That movie would have been more awesome if it had actually been with the Muppets. It would have injected some humor into the film.

Smurf.

Fair point, but I'm sure it didn't exactly help in her transition to the big screen.

Cruel Intentions is probably her best big screen movie.

And even that is nothing but a pale imitation of Dangerous Liaisons, a much better telling of the same story.

I think I qualify for all three.

Back in the mid 90's, I was the first to write the summary for Ferngully on IMDB. Let that be my only great act in this life. No wait... I was the first to hit Mazes and Monsters too. Perhaps the finest film of the 20th century... eclipsing Star Wars and Citizen Kane in its world blotting umbra.

Why does it say Lokarr after my name you ask so insistently? Why I'll tell you. Because I thought it would be a cool last name and considered changing it legally. But then, I researched and found that a lokar, to the norse of long ago, was a planing tool. I figured having TOOL in my name, even conceptually, was probably too easy a mark to hit.
