Just thought I'd advertise myself. I'm new to this play-by-post and was shown it recently by a friend, however I have experience at roleplaying in similar fashion but without dice rolls and I have played D20 games in real life such as D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder, both groups playing pathfinder now but the first was 3.5 for a year or two so I have knowledge on both sides of those. I also have all the core rulebooks so character generation shouldn't be a problem.

I am interested in other possible games though I will need to know where to get resources for making the character if it is in a game I am unfamiliar with.

Hello, and welcome to the play-by-post forums! My current campaign is full, but there may be an opening in a Pathfinder play-by-post called The Land of Dunaris. Keep checking this forum, games fill up fast. If you're familiar with a game, you might want to consider DMing a short adventure (it's how I learned). There's additional rules for Pathfinder (for free) at www.d20pfsrd.com.

wow thanks.

hmm I was thinking of dming actually, but I fel I need to try out a published game first, just to get the hang of some things. Various things that I have no idea how to prepare would be things like keeping date of calender or random encounter, which I'm sure a published world would help me with.

been checking the fourms all day since Saturday, but I'll keep an eye out. my friend who lead me here said there's usually one starting every so often. One every week I think.

I've never actually run or been part of a published adventure, I only vaguely keep track of dates, and random encounters simply occur when they're convenient. That's their function :).

true but I meant how to work out random encounters and what exactly for the random encounter to be.

Link>>> they put out this in honor of free rpg day, it's small but it'll give you a taste of what you are looking for, the pdf is free to down load.
