The half-orc backhands the girl, sending her sprawling on the floor. She lies there unconscious.

To move the game along, I'll reveal in advance that the door to the east is blocked from the other side. Someone will have to make a strength check to open it.

Male Human Inquisitor 1

I check the door, the handle is locked.

"Stand back, I'll kick it in!"

"We are comming in, drop any weapons you may have, and surrender, Erastil will show you mercy if you come peacefully!"

Augusto kicks the door with all his fury

Str check
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

The door stays shut.

Fendrel gives his companions a simmering, long-suffering look. Choosing not to say anything to his half-orc companion, he instead strides to the door. "Move." He pulls a crowbar out from his bag and wedges it in the door.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

M Dwarf Monk 1

[ooc] I kind of lost the bubble on on everone's position. I assume that we (most of us anyway) are outside and the girl (with the body) is inside.[\ooc]

[ooc]Regardless of whether I am inside or outside, I will move to block the door so that the girl cannot leave. I will ready an action to attack (stunning attack, nonlethal) any non-party member who tries to get past me[\ooc]

[b]There is something funny goin' on here. I don't intend to hurt any innocents, but nobody is gonna leave until we get to the bottom of this.[\b]

Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 71d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Stunning Fist: DC 15

Scarab Sages

"What?"

I thought she might have had more fight in her than that...

Time to stabilise her, and get her tied up.

"Anyone see a sack? Or a roll of carpet?"

Male Human Inquisitor 1

Grumbling about his foot, Augusto pulls some Rope from his traveling back

"I have some rope, would that be of use?"

"Fendrel, hows that door comming?"

And has anyone seen our halfling friend?

Scarab Sages

"Maybe that was him, bouncing off the walls, in there?"

"And I think he's a gnome, unless he dyes his hair."

Male Human Inquisitor 1

A Smile Crosses Augusto's face

"Halflings, Gnomes, they all look the same to me"

He Chuckles

The elven warrior pops open the door ... and is greeted by streaking arrows!

OOC:

Surprise round ends.

Round 1 begins.

Everyone who has not done so, please roll initiative.
Also, declare your actions and make your rolls for the round.

Also, I'll controlling Bimblethorpe for this combat (unless his player shows up.)

Male Human Inquisitor 1

Augusto Lets out a Loud Growl, Blades swinging in the wind, he quickly ducks into the room with the archers

I move to the square between the archers, and attack the one to the South

Attack roll
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Damage
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Fendrel follows Augusto's lead, sword leveled as he charges the archers. "Your biggest mistake today will be missing my throat," he says angrily.

I move to the square to the NW corner of Augusto, in front of the northern archer, and attack him.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
1d10 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Scarab Sages

Looks like those two have them covered...

Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

I march into the room, roaring,

"PUT DOWN THOSE WEAPONS IF YOU WANT TO LIVE!

Intimidate 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

then place myself outside the upper door to the thin room, with falchion readied.

If anyone skeezy comes out, attack roll is 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15, damage 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + 2 = 6

M Dwarf Monk 1

I move into the space before the interior door (previously occupied by Fendrel) and ready an action to strike any foe who approaches. If the girl is faking and tries to get up I will use unarmed strike and stunning fist.

Unarmed strike: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Stunning Fist: DC 15

Init for Fendrel 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Init for Bimble 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Init for pirate #1 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Init for pirate #2 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

Bimblethorpe watches amused from the back, whistling a jaunty tune.

Augusto slips in between the two assasins and swings at the foe to the right, but misses.

The two foes draw their swords and hack at the inquisitor.

Pirate #1 attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 - MISS

Pirate #2 attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 - HIT
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Hagruk roars "PUT DOWN THOSE WEAPONS IF YOU WANT TO LIVE!", and stands guard at a doorway.

Rondu guards a doorway as well.

"Your biggest mistake today will be missing my throat," warns Fendrel. The elf charges to the left and stabs, piercing the enemy's heart. The man drops to the floor in a welling pool of his own blood.

Round 2 begins

"HA! it will take more than that little scratch to stop Erastil's Fury!"

The remaining assassin proves no match for Augusto's flashing blades, and is quickly dispatched.

OOC:
Both pirates are dead. Combat is now over.

M Dwarf Monk 1

My understanding is that the girl has been stablized and bound.

I will continue to guard the door. If the girl escapes her bindings (if bound) or tries to flee. I will attack with unarmed strike/stunning fist using non-lethal damage.

If the pirate moves near me, I will attack with unarmed strike/stunning fist using nomral damage.

Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 111d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Stunning Fist: DC 15

If the girl is not stablized, I will attempt to stablize her instead of preparing to attack. If she is not bound, I will bind her instead of preparing to attack.

M Dwarf Monk 1

I seem to be 1 round behind. As soon as I post, I see that my actions have been rendered moot by the previous post.

Scarab Sages

Dead? Or unconscious?

I was hoping to stabilise them, and question them.
Incidentally, that was the reason I did the Inflict on 'Daddy's Girl'; because I knew I couldn't accidentally crit and slice her head off.

And if she did turn out to be a badass, she'd have to break off to heal herself of the bleed...

The girl is merely unconscious. The men are quite dead.

Scarab Sages

"I know these guys; they're...dun,dun,durrr...4th Edition minions!"

Scarab Sages

Always refresh just before you post; if it's going to be a long post, or complicated with BBTags, try composing it in Word, first, hit refresh, then see if you need to edit for recent events.

Male Human Inquisitor 1

Augusto Wipes the blood from his blade. Then bends over the bodys as says a short Prayer.

"May you both enjoy the endless hunt of the afterlife, Be you the hunter or the prey"

He then begins searching the bodies for any usefull information

"I supposed we should ahve taken one alive to pump for information. But something tells me they would not have complied easily. and DAMN! does my Arm hurt!"

Augusto then Pauses his search, pulls a Small pendant from under his Shirt, Whispers another prayer, then kisses the pendant.

Erastil, lord of the hunt, please heal this disciple of yours, so he may continue to do your holy work

Cure light wounds
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Slowly, the wound stops bleeding and closes, Ths skin around the area is pink, and looks to be tender

Spells cast sofar 1/3, HP 16/18

Scarab Sages

I call out to anyone behind the other door;

"The others have been defeated. I give you a choice; to hand yourselves over to the law, and walk out of here on your own two feet, or be carried out in a chum-bucket, like these fools!"

Intimidate 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

No one replies behind the unopened door.

The girl who called herself 'Katiya' stirs out of unconsciousness ...

M Dwarf Monk 1

Hagruk can you heal this girl? Next time try to take it easy unless you know for sure that someone is a threat.

Scarab Sages

"That's why I pulled my punches, with a merciful blow. No chance of a nasty accident, then."

"Besides, didn't you yourself tell me she was not what she seemed? The fact that she's a pretty girly doesn't prevent her being dangerous, in fact more the opposite."

"But let's get this other door open, so we can be out of here."

M Dwarf Monk 1

"Hagruk - I agree with your reasons, if not your exact method. Let's see if we can find out what we might be facing before we go charging in."

Rondu kneels near Kitiya and speaks quitely to her. "Are you OK lass? My comrade acted in haste because he thought you were a threat. The two pirates in the next room are dead. Is there anyone else in this building? We will not let them harm you."

Rondu look around at the other party members "Does anybody need healing? Let's make sure everyone is rasonably whole before we open the door. I can spare a potion if needed."

"I've had worse," Fendrel says simply. He picks his crowbar up from where he dropped it in the fight and stands next to the girl as Rondu talks to her, supplying that silent menacing muscle behind.

The girl blinks and rubs her eyes.

"Where am I?" she asks innocently.

M Dwarf Monk 1

"You are in Lubor Staizkal's shop. We have defeated the two pirates in the next room. Can you tell us what happened?"

I will evaluate her response carefully.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

"I've got this covered. The rest of you guys should finish securing the shop."

Scarab Sages

"I don't know; you seem soft on her. Let's see her try fluttering her eyelashes at a mongrel like me."

Sense Motive1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Any chance either one of those counts as an assist?

"I don't think anyone's in need of healing; Augusto sorted himself out, and Fendrel just took a scratch. Jammy beggar."

"I was on my way to the market when I blacked out. The next thing I know, I find myself here. Now please excuse me, I have to get home."

The girl tries to squeeze past the gathered adventurers.

Rondu, Hagruk:

Spoiler:
She is lying.

M Dwarf Monk 1

"You are staying right here until I get to the bottom of this"

I will position myself in the front door. If it is not already closed, I will close it.

"You are going to tell me who you are and what you are doing here. NOW, STOP LYING TO ME."

"Right now, I am the only thing that stands between you and my rather surly comrade. He would just as soon get his answers the hard way. I suggest you come clean with us or I will no longer be able to justify my temperence in this matter."

If the girl tries to slip past me, I grab her by the arm to stop her (I guess this is a grapple). If she tries to tries to make a break for the door, I will hit her with an unarmed strike (with stunning fist) for non-lethal damage.

Grapple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Unarmed strike: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 81d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Stunning Fist: DC 15

M Dwarf Monk 1

If the girl starts talking I will carefully evaluate her words.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Fendrel quietly moved up behind her. "My even-tempered friend isn't between you and I, though. And I'm the only one that got hurt in the scuffle. And I'm a lot less patient than any of my companions," he said, hoping to startle her.

Intimidate check: 1d20 ⇒ 15

The girl scowls and spits at Fendrel's feet.

"You're looking for Darsielle, right? He's escaped down a trapdoor in back of the storeroom. It leads to a passage into the Underdocks, where the Hydra's Fang is moored. He moves it often and we were supposed to ask the dock guards the new location after we finished up here."

Rondu:

Spoiler:

She's telling the truth.

Bimblethorpe enters the storeroom and rummages around. "A-yup. There's a trapdoor alright." Through a small hole in the floor, a long, rickety ladder descends into absolute darkness.

Fendrel's eyes narrow at the girl's display of disgust. He considers wiping his sword clean of pirate's blood on the urchin's clothing, fighting fire with fire, but opts instead to give her the cool disregard of utter contempt. He stalks into the other room, stowing his crowbar in his bag and pulling out an everburning torch. "I'll lead," he says simply, and begins climbing down, holding the torch low to reveal as much of the room below as he can.

M Dwarf Monk 1

Rondu leaves the girl and joins Fendrel in climbing down through the trap door.

"She's finally telling the truth. Let's get after Darsielle."

Scarab Sages

Did we tie her up? I thought we did.
If not, I think we'd better. Do we play it out, or can we say four of us trip her up, tie her up, and bop her on the head again?

But not before I ask a further question...out of earshot of the others...

Spoiler:
"How many men does he have with him? And how many are casters?
Remember, if you tell us false, and I live to return, I can arrange to deal with you without the others present.
And I haven't eaten today..."

<sniffs at her meaningfully, Hannibal Lecter style>

Intimidate 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

Once Fendrel and Rondu have left the outer room, Katiya makes a dash for the front door ...

Hagruk, you can attempt a grapple or trip. Her CMD is 10.

Ok, I'm totally clueless about this, which is best, but I believe I've calculated this right.

I'll try for the grab, then it buys time for the others to get back in.

Grapple 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

M Dwarf Monk 1

Rondu pokes his head out of the trap door.

"Hagruk, quit foolin' around with her. She told us what we needed to know. She's no real threat. We are wasting time up here."

Scarab Sages

"If she gets word out, we could find ourselves mobbed; on the boat, or on our way back."

I'm well sleepy now, so I'm going to have to turn in.
I'd like to stop her getting away, and truss her up in the back room, but I don't want to hold up the group (players or PCs).
My stats are all on my profile, so if you think it's possible, I'll pin her, headbutt, stabilise her and tie her up; if not, well, it's no big deal.
