New Pathfinder product: Magic Item book?

Product Discussion

I'd love to see Paizo release a book of Magic Items, similar to the Magic Item Compendium.

What are the chances of that happening?

Classic Treasurers Revisited kind of fills that niche.

Except that there are only 10 treasures listed in that book, which is pretty limited.

I'd love to see a book that contains more enchantments, hundreds of unique weapons and armors, and magic item sets.

And Legacy weapons. I loved the idea but hated the implementation. Would have to be renamed, of course.

In a heartbeat I'd buy a book similar to WotC's Magic Item Compendium (which I already have and use).

And I agree with DM_Blake; WoL was a great idea but has had zero use at our table because the implementation sucked.

I also really enjoyed the magic item compendium, but I did get a bit worried about some of the items. Still, I love having more options and variety.

Yeah, we've been using the Magic Item Compendium, but it would be nice to have a more balanced book to work with.

One more vote for a Pathfinder MIC. One of my absolute favorite 3.5 books, and one I've used again and again and again.

They've kind of taken the first steps with heirloom items (or whatever the name is; it escapes me at the moment).

Legacy items are okay; I use them but they don't have the right feel for me, and it's a fine line for the abilities between "pointless" and "too powerful."

EDIT: Classic Treasures Revisited is nothing like the MIC - it's an in-detail look at a few items, not an extensive addition and cleanup of the list of magic items.

I wouldnt mind seeing this. I love throwing in unique and interesting items into my games. Give the players something usefull that they havent seen before. I have had alot of fun with the loot 4 less product line from super genius, it would be great to have a full book from paizo that I could do that with.

Liberty's Edge

My MIC recently disappeared for two weeks into one of my player's game bags. . .and I thought it was gone for good, so I checked on prices to replace it. A used copy could be found at Amazon with prices starting at $50, and a couple of copies were available at Ebay for around $70! I was really relieved when the player found my copy, but doh is there a need for a Big Book O' Magic Items from Paizo! Let's make it happen, people!

Seconded, thirded, fourth...ed?

Love the MIC book and would definitely buy one made by Paizo.

The Advanced Player's Guide contains an entire chapter of new magic items, weapon qualities, etc. that will go some distance toward scratching this itch until we can get a Big Fat Magic Item Book on the schedule.

We know a lot of people would like a book like this and we're currently discussing the best way and time to make it happen.

As long as it's called "THE BIG FAT MAGIC ITEM BOOK"

Agree completely I love Legacy magic items and use them in our games... with work on my part to make them work the way I want. I hope either paizo or a 3pp publisher picks up that idea and runs with it.

As for the OP, I wouldn't mind it. Maybe break it up into.
1 chapter lesser magic 1-7th level stuff, another on moderate magic 8-15th, another on high level stuff 15+, then one on artifacts and finally a chapter on unique items that are not up to artifacts but have a history and a bit out of the norm.

+1 or make that +5-6 copies for my group. This is the book I want the most after APG.

keep that name, I love it(even though you were joking?) And keep the intent: BIG FAT BOOK, no piddly 32 or 64 pages here. Make the forests weep.

Some things I'd like to see in this book:
-new artifacts
-wide range of stuff, low level to high
-charts for potions, scrolls, and wands so I can randomly roll specific items off those to hand out as treasure(something I miss from 3.5 DMG)
-set items
-paizo to take submissions for items to be entered into the book

That's actually going to appear in GMG due next month.

Another voice in the "Hooray for the Big Fat Magic Item Book" chorus here. And seriously, it needs to be named just exactly that.

Ditto to all of the above. Legacy items is a great idea but the implementation sucked big time. MIC is one of the very few books (besides monster books) that I use from 3.x.

And yeah, Big Fat Magic Items Book is a great name!

It can be a whole line of compilations!

Big Fat Magic Item Book
Big Fat Trait Book
Big Fat Feat Book
Big Fat Spell Book
Etc....

I don't think "Fat" is the politically correct term.

Instead, it should be called the "Big-Boned" Magic Item Book.

I echo much of the above.

I'm moving house, and I'm going to (eventually ebay) my 3.5 library - except MIC, it's a really useful book.

Also, some means to keep hold of weapons and have them grow in power is a must-have for my players. I've house ruled out the non-upgradeability of mundane>masterwork in just about every game I've run.

Earthdawn had a great system that involved learning more about a weapon's history to unlock it's powers - something along those lines would be great.

Suggestion: throw instructions and money at highly-qualified writers, and immediately, respectively.
