Yeah, no worries. We can at least finish this one. It was just a head up... and me complaining. ;)
You failed your C.S.I. check. :p

It looks like Mercra is dead, via garrote. Based upon the fact that the blood is pooled around the body, and not smeared on the ground, you can surmise that he was killed in this closet, and not dragged here.

The bloody tracks seem to lead to the only door down here that you haven't opened yet, to the West.

Where's Shalla when you need her?

"Clear... you first Olo." She says with a smile.

Olo arches an eyebrow and gently pushes the door open, his ax at the ready...

Ok, cool...let's keep going. I may be a bit slow to post here this week. I'm in Seattle for most of the week on business and then staying for PaizoCon..wahoo!

She's out in the room with four doors... if you want her to look for something you only need to ask.

Grand Lodge

This chamber overflows with dusty relics of the past, some prominently displayed on shelves and pedestals, others piled haphazardly in crates, jars, and scroll cases. A massive stone idol looms in the corner, its fiendish eyes sparkling with crimson beryls. An intricately woven Kellish rug, carefully rolled, leans against a shelf displaying ancient weapons from throughout Golarion. A somber pipe organ rests against the northern wall, its keys and pedals wet with fresh blood. Past a small Foyer(10 feet by 15 feet), the room extends 30 feet to the North, and 25 feet East.

OK, apparently North is ^ now. >.<

This room serves as the lodge’s reliquary and houses most of its amassed collection of artifacts from various delves. A lifeless body lies crumpled on the floor, riddled with dozens of stab wounds. A pile of rags rests on the organ bench.

As you walk in, you begin to hear a scratching sound, coming from the Southeast corner.

Can I get two will saves from everyone? :D

  • ???
  • Olo
  • Shalla

Thovar, Marianna, Olo, & Levistus can tell that the sound is magical in nature, and is not real, and so can act in the surprise round. Both Marianna & Thovar peer in to the room, trying to divine the source of the spell, to no avail.

Levistus, ???, Olo, and Shalla then regular combat begins.

Danged dice changed on me! Shalla gets to act in the surprise round as she sees:

Shalla:
Shalla spots a tiny doll sitting on the bench of the organ. It seems to be moving.

Sovereign Court

Male Human (Chelish) 1st Level Sorcerer

Rubbing his chin thoughtfully, "Hmmmm....odd. Someone or something is using minor arcane tricks to create that scratching sound. Possibly as a distraction." He scans the opposite side of the room from the scratching carefully, looking for a threat.

Grand Lodge

Levistus:
Levistus looks carefully, but can't make anything out... strangely, he has an urge to go play at the organ, one that he can't control.

Your actions are no longer your own. You are 40 feet away, when/if you get there make a Perform check each round

Shalla:
The doll once held a piece of parchment, but it dissipates in a puff of smoke.

??? has gone, Olo is up.

The Exchange

Olo lights up another sunrod and drops it in the center of the room. He moves up to the organ, ax in hand....

Liberty's Edge

Shalla prowls into the room, the blood red symbol on her forehead flaring in agitation. "The doll at the organ! It moves!" she lets out in a low hiss and lowers on her haunches, ready to pounce.

Liberty's Edge

Oops, guess I'm up again. Didn't spot Tambric at the top.

The halfling moves after the Eidolon into the room, looking cautiously towards the organ for signs of 'moving dolls'.

[ooc]Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6[/dice]

Grand Lodge

Marianna and Thovar walk into the room cautiously, looking for the source of any threat.

Rolls:
Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Even with Shalla's direction, only Shalla herself has spotted the enemy thus far.

Sovereign Court

Male Human (Chelish) 1st Level Sorcerer

Levistus without so much as a glance or comment heads over to the organ and cracks his knuckles as if preparing to play it.

It appears my alias has been stolen and I now have "Dark Arioch's" in front of my name. Am looking for an explanation from Mr. Teter.

Grand Lodge

Finally you spot what Shalla is talking about. A small doll-like figure begins to rise into the air from near the organ. She is wearing a little red dress, has a pretty little red bow in her hair, and is clutching a small teddy bear in one arm. She claps her hands in glee as Levistus prepares to play, ignoring the rest of the group for now.

The Diva is too high to reach with melee weapons now.

Levistus:
You feel a bit down... a somber dirge best suits your mood at the moment. ;)

As you move into the room, you spot a crate that has been knocked over in the southwest corner. A dozen dolls similar to The Diva are scattered and shattered on the ground. A lifeless body lies crumpled on the floor nearby, riddled with dozens of stab wounds. In addition, you notice an incongruous pile of rags that rest on the organ bench.

Liberty's Edge

Would it be possible to jump high enough to reach it?

Grand Lodge

Perhaps... but not likely. The ceiling is 15' up, but I'd say she only went up to about 12', so the DC (with a running start, and for a 6' person) is about 24... yikes! That goes up by +4 for each foot you are shorter than 6'. The bench is about 2' off the ground, so you could use that as a springboard for -8 to the DC. You can assume that after the first guy to try this, she is going to move higher. You'd be better off chucking your melee weapons at her as improvised weapons(-4 atk penalty & 10' range increment).

The Exchange

Olo's going to wait a few seconds and see what happens. He may just hack at the organ and see if that annoys the doll....

Liberty's Edge

Seeing the gleeful reaction of the doll at Levistus' preparations to play, Shalla rushes forwards to barge the sorcerer away from the organ. "I doubt that would be advisable!" she says urgently as she rams into his side.

Bull Rush 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Liberty's Edge

Tambric, now able to see the potential threat, observes the situation develop, ready to call upon the assistance of more of Milani's agents if necessary.

Readies an action to use summon monster I SLA to summon a Celestial Eagle if the doll takes an aggressive action.

Grand Lodge

Shalla pounces on Levistus, knocking him forward and in to the Organ with a loud *thunk*.

Levistus:
You come out of it dazed, confused, and pressed up against an Organ by a large griffon.

Marianna and Thovar both draw their weapons, readying for any aggressive actions.

The doll screeches as its new thrall is disturbed, dire intent is clearly on its mind.

Levisus' turn + Tambric can be assured of the doll's intent :p

Sovereign Court

Male Human (Chelish) 1st Level Sorcerer

Glaring at the griffon, "Are you usually this rude when someone is about to play a masterpi...." Shaking his head he suddenly becomes aware of the incongruous nature of his actions and chuckles, "Seems that someone else is versed in the school of enchantment." The screech from the doll getting his attention as he struggles to free himself from the large avian Levistus takes a bead on it with his crossbow.

If he can take a shot than here is the roll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Grand Lodge

The bolt makes a *thok* as it strikes the doll in the thigh, embedding itself deep into the Diva's wooden body. She hisses, dropping to the ground near Levistus and touching him with foul energy, glass eyes gleaming with malice.

Spellcasting allows Shalla an AoO...
Concentration vs. Shalla's AoO1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Inflict Serious Wounds on Levistus 3d8 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1, 3) + 1 = 7 DC 15 Will for 1/2

Sovereign Court

Male Human (Chelish) 1st Level Sorcerer

Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

First of all, UN-HOLY CRAP! Inflict Serious wounds coulda killed me easily. Secondly, I think the spell should be doing more damage than that since it is +1 per caster level (so minimum of +5 I believe).

Grand Lodge

Levistus shrugs off the worst effects of the spell.

Shalla still gets a chance to break that spell.
It could have, you got lucky! The spell is an SLA, and the doll is only "level 1." :rolls eyes: AH! But she has multiple HD... alright, since you wanted it so badly +4 to your pre-halved damage. :p
Also, the way that concentration has been changed, the Diva would have to roll a nat. 20 on her concentration check to actually cast it defensively, and its more easily broken through damage taken via AoO... so that might balance it. A little bit.
Wait... its a melee touch attack, and I forgot to make the roll 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 She misses! So you're good. Dummy me. Shalla still gets her AoO.

Liberty's Edge

oops, I figured that she was casting defensively.

Shalla lashes out with her beak at the doll, trying to tear it away from Levistus, 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15, 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8.

Even so, inflict serious wounds at tier 1-2, that's pretty scary!

The Exchange

When it is Olo's turn he will dash up and take a swing....

Attack/Damage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 61d12 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

"A wood doll. <Sigh.> Is there no flesh and blood for my ax tonight?"

Liberty's Edge

Fenna prowls menacingly around the doll, lashing out at it with each of her claws before following with a vicious bite from her razor sharp beak.

5' ste, flanking with Olo if possible (I'll not include the bonus in case it isn't available), full attack: claw 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5, 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6, claw 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4, 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4, bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21, 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8.

Liberty's Edge

With a silent prayer to the Everbloom, and a wave of his hand, Tambric sends out a call to the celestial planes for aid.

In a burst of rose-petals, which float to the ground around the doll to disappear once more into the aether, a magnificent bird of prey emerges and flaps it powerful wings to stay aloft over the wooden fiend.

fly check (DC15 to hover) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10.

Failing to keep it's altitude, it descends clumsily to the ground before lashing out at the doll with it's beak, which begins to glow with holy light, Smite evil, 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10, 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Grand Lodge

Shalla connects with a bite and a claw tearing wooden splinters off of the doll, as she screams defiance. Thovar and Marianna crowd in, hoping for a strike of their own at the doll...

Marianna attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 damage 1d6 ⇒ 2
Thovar attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Both Thovar and Marianna's attacks connect, striking splinters from the body of the doll. The light in the doll's eyes flicker and go out...

Map

As deadly as that one attack was, The Diva was a one-shot creature...

Liberty's Edge

"That was unpleasant," Shalla says, looking down at the remains of the doll before turning her head to Levistus. "Are you alright?" She asks the sorcerer in an embarrassed tone, "I didn't mean to be so rough, but I didn't want to find out what would happen if you played that organ."

With that, she sniffs at the pile of rags on the bench, poking at them gingerly with a claw. Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

Grand Lodge

The rags stink of unwashed bodies, but they look like rags.

Sovereign Court

Male Human (Chelish) 1st Level Sorcerer

Un-ruffling himself, Levistus manages a thin smile, "I doubt you could call what I would do with the organ....playing." He reaches over and hits one of the keys, "That's about the limit of my ability." Looking over at the pile of rags, "Perhaps they were once worn by someone who changed into a maniacal doll. Who was cursed by an evil organ to remain in that wooden form until it could convince some fool to come around and replace it by playing the organ in it's place." His sarcastic tone tells those he thinks himself witty and doesn't believe a word of it. Well, until he seems to reconsider at the end of his yarn and quickly pulls his hand from the key on the organ.

Liberty's Edge

As Shalla and Levistus converse near the organ, Tambric moves over to the body slumped on the ground, pushing it over to reveal its features.

Grand Lodge

As Levistus presses the key on the organ, he feels arcane energies rising up... no, j/k

Levisus presses the key and a deep sonorous note sounds, but nothing else happens. Tambric flips the body but does not recognize the face. A quick search of his body reveals his membership in the pathfinders(a wayfinder), and a letter tucked into his pocket from a girlfriend(an assumption based on the profligate repetitions of "I will always love thee"s and "my true heart's desire"s) to a one Gilrad Penderay(a name you shouldn't recognize).

Liberty's Edge

"This seems to be more your speed," Tambric says lightly, handing the note over to Levistus, then intones the words of a spell and looks about the room intensely.

Detect magic around the room, particularly the organ.

Meanwhile, Shalla moves over to the unopened door in the corner and tilts her head to listen for any activity beyond while inspecting the door itself for danger.
Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

Sovereign Court

Male Human (Chelish) 1st Level Sorcerer

Taking a moment to read the letter, "You are, of coarse, correct. I will make it a priority to console the lady in her grief as soon as we finish with this assignment."

Grand Lodge

As Shalla presses her ear to the door she can faintly hear, through the stout wooden door, what sounds like someone tearing apart the room beyond.

Liberty's Edge

"Hmm," the white feathered eidolon muses, looking back into the room at the rest of the group, "I think there is someone behind this door... though whoever it is sounds a little frantic."

The Exchange

Olo cracks open a fresh sunrod and hands it one of the team members. He motions to the door with his axe and whispers...

"Ready?"

Grand Lodge

The door won't open, it seems to be stuck... or blocked.

Sovereign Court

Male Human (Chelish) 1st Level Sorcerer

Giving the door and appraising look, "It seems someone doesn't wish our company. Olo, will you do the honors of introducing us?"

The Exchange

"He, he , he. If only looks could kill," Olo replies with an arched eyebrow. He tries to kick the door open...

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Grand Lodge

The door bursts open with a *CRACK* and Olo lands on the seat of his pants, 5 feet into the room.

Well-stocked bookshelves line the perimeter of the room, surrounding a small, central area with four reading desks. A low partition separates two more desks, which face away from the center of the room, toward the shelves.

MAP

A small swarthy man dressed in rags emerges from a pile of books and scrolls, seemingly startled by Olo's entrance. He moves into the room screaming at you unintelligibly while making wild gestures.

Sense Motive Checks! Marianna 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 Thovar 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

"Talk, talk, talk..."

Dungeoneering check to see if I can identify the "man" - in case he is a certain creature: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

"Calm down, calm down," the halfling speaks hastily, entering the room with hands raised soothingly towards the ranting man. "What's causing you so much concern?"

Sovereign Court

Male Human (Chelish) 1st Level Sorcerer

Watching the man carefully, "Certainly, my good man. Tell us what you wish and we shall see if we can come to some equitable agreement. No need to yell, we are listening. Perhaps you could write it down if speech is proving too challenging."
