Session 0

Session 1

Session 2

It's going...eh?

Sovereign Court

Session 3

Next session is a little add-on I created to catch up in the experience, having a six-member party instead of four.

Sovereign Court

Session 4

Here's the latest. This was a catchup session based on the design by
Alexander Kilcoyne. I wrote it myself and the map design was based on the layout for the projection booths at the theater where I was employed until technology recently made me obsolete. It had 14 theaters, and in a separate post within this thread, I'll put up the riddles I wrote.

Sovereign Court

So, with 14 theaters to work with, I decided to tie in RW birthstones with in-game months as they relate to RW months (May=Desnus, etc.) For theater 13 I used the Green Way, and theater 14 comprised the remaining deities, both greater and lesser, who didn't have months named after them. What's past is past, but I'd like to hear your thoughts opinions on the riddles. Thanks in advance.

Riddles here:
January->Abadar->Garnet: The key to perfection lives within my vault, I judge my peers on their deeds and their faults.

February->Calistria->Amethyst: Stung but once, you can't resist, even knowing I'm full of tricks. Sting on me and you'll regret the worst revenge you'll ever get.

March->Pharasma->Aquamarine: To my Boneyard you must go, when your soul leaves the world you know. Birth and Death, of these I know, living corpses disrupt the flow.

April->Gozreh->Diamond: Wind and water, he and she, Master nature, weather, and the sea.

May->Desna->Emerald: Enter your dreams and follow the signs. Travel to the stars in the heavens of mine.

June->Sarenrae->Pearl: Seek redemption in the Everlight, The Healing Flame burning bright.

July->Erastil->Ruby: Good farmers crop, I do aid. For the hunting man, the bow I made.

August->Aroden->Peridot: I survived the Fall to people's shock, and raised the stone and received a flock. A follower now takes my place, since I'm removed from time and space.

September->Rovagug->Sapphire: My spawn wreak havoc where I cannot, left imprisoned, hoped to rot. Upon the day of my return, all the world will start to burn.

October->Lamashtu->Opal: Mother of monsters, stealer of beasts, on a God's power I did feast. Betrayed by demons but I survived, now my monstrous babies thrive.

November->Nethys->Yellow Topaz: Two faces, two minds, I made magic our focus. Great power I gained, but also it broke us.

December->Zon-Kuthon->Turquoise: I know of your loss, I know of your pain, for those things fall under my domain. Pushed in the darkness, your crave what's not yours, green seeps like sweat out of your pores.

13->Green Way->Wooden: (in Druidic) Neutral is natural, good and evil combined, chaos can't reign, no law can be signed.

14->remainder of pantheon->multicolored: We are the lesser, don't question our power, come before any, you'll surely still cower. (this has each letter written in a different language. The spell 'comprehend languages' will reveal the message (as well as 13) however, with this one the combining of all languages into a comprehensible thing, even by the force of the magic, will leave the character staggered from a headache. Duration is up to you.)

I ran this as a CR 4 encounter, and it took the party the entire 4 hour session to finish it up. It may take longer or shorter depending on your party's knowledge of the deity lore, birthstones, real world to game world month tie-in, and whether or not the party stays together for each statue. Also, as noted in the adventure log above, there was a secret room near 13 with a boiling pit of quicksilver. This room is the only place where the weapons are accessible to the character, and even then only their favored weapon. Dropping the weapon into the quicksilver will have them wake up (or however you run it) with a masterwork version of said weapon replacing their previous weapon. This room doesn't need be found, but after having thousands of gp worth of jewels in their hands and having to get rid of them to escape, you might want to make sure they get something for their efforts. However, YMMV. Thanks for checking it out.

Sovereign Court

Sorry to those (if any) reading this, but as I'm sure you've probably determined, my game has come to a premature end. I hope to be running a new Kingmaker campaign soon, with a few returning players, and a few new ones.

Sovereign Court

So, I've restarted my KingMaker campaign with a semi-new group. First session posted over at Obsidian Portal.

Session 1

Sovereign Court

New post.

Session 2

Sovereign Court

Updates...

Session 3

Session 4

Sovereign Court

Update.

Session 5

Sovereign Court

And a new one, after the holiday break.

Session 6

Sovereign Court

Huzzah.

Session 7

Cheers,
Have been reading them.
Keep it up.

Thanks! I didn't think anyone was actually looking at these.

Oh - I guarantee that you'd be surprised with how many will be...

Sovereign Court

Next up.

Session 8

Whoo! Double the sessions last attempt made it!

Sovereign Court

Got number 9 posted, much later than usual, and much later than I wanted, but still on time for the game!

Session 9

Sovereign Court

Well, session 10 is up and posted. We'll be taking a break this week as 2/3 of the group will be off to see Jeff Dunham. Until then...

Session 10

Sovereign Court

Jeff Dunham was fun, as was our return session. Log is up for your enjoyment...or whatever you derive from reading it.

Session 11

Enjoyment would be the right word, I think. Always fun to see how a party handles Kingmaker. Hopefully things will go well with them when they find the boss bandit...

Thanks much, and we shall see. They've done relatively well against the single combats/enemies so far, but the multiple enemy/room combat may be their downfall. Their first attempt at it is linked below.

Sovereign Court

And here we are with Session 12 . Enjoy.

Sovereign Court

Check out Session 13 now!

Ah, the good old days of low-level player characters... :)

Sovereign Court

And here be Session 14. Almost ready to take on Staggy...

It's fun having a relatively inexperienced group as well. Seems to help garner a more natural flow of fun.

Good stuff. Thanks for sharing all of this. I enjoy reading through your adventures.

Sovereign Court

I must admit, I was a bit worried coming into this...the party hasn't been great on multiple enemy encounters, and their teamwork is...lacking (to use a kind descriptor). But they seemed to finally be a team...I just hope it lasts. Without further spoilerish comments:

Session 15

And yes, they do meet Staggy.

Sovereign Court

I was feeling froggy tonight, so Session 16 got typed up tonight, mere hours after the session finished up. I had expected things to go a bit further, but alas, it was not to be. Enjoy!

Sovereign Court

Hey there all. For those of you who've kept up with the adventures of my group, we've set up a forum over here for character journals. I'm not sure if/how often each person will use it, but it should be enough to get some sort of insider look at the characters.

The next session is tomorrow night, and we'll be getting into actual kingdom building. It should be interesting.

Thanks for stopping by, and all the positive comments!

Sovereign Court

If my computer hadn't been crapping out on me (seemingly at fault of Firefox), Session 17 would have been up nearly a day ago. But it is available now. Enjoy!

I was sad when I finally reached the end! Congrats on the getting to the charter!

I wonder if my group would like to do the same thing. I'll have to ask!

Anyway, thanks for doing this and keep it coming!

Thanks! I'll say, session 18, it was all kingdom building, and at the beginning, it seemed like interest was waning quickly. However, it seemed that once they ran into a bit of trouble, all of a sudden they were into it, taking it for the fun/mini-game it was meant to be (IMHO). I gotta say, the building part is probably not for every group, but we enjoyed it.

Speaking of...

Sovereign Court

Session 18 is typed up and posted, ready for your enjoyment. As noted, it's different than the standard logs due to the kingdom building, but I attempted to give it 'life' as best I could.

Sovereign Court

Well, Session 19 is now posted and ready for reading. A bit of a mix between kingdom phases and good ol' adventuring. Hope you enjoy.

Sovereign Court

A milestone for my group (no matter what side of the screen I'm on), we've reached Session 20. Enjoy!

Sovereign Court

And we've made it to Session 21. I almost had 15 dead characters, PC and NPC alike, from this session. And none of them were evil aligned...

Heeeeyyyy ... where're the gruesome details of almost-deaths?

It didn't actually come to blows, but it came quite close. Even if it had been the party vs. the other two groups, there would've been a lot of deaths, but the way things were going, Velen could very well have ended up opposite at least half the party, or simply watching from the side, waiting for cooler, smarter, deadlier heads to prevail, then reattempting peaceful negotiations as necessary. I think his devotion to Cayden is the only thing that's kept him from drinking to excess.

Sovereign Court

Had a new character/player join up this week. You can read all about it in the Session 22 log now available.

Interesting on the background elements you'd requested. Were I more into RP - as opposed to "diet RP" (my favorite :P) - I'd definitely take an approach like this. Kudos!

My group, especially the new player, really seems to enjoy the RP aspect most. Personally, especially being a writer, I think a back-story helps immersion. If a character has goals and a history, it's more real, IMO, and I don't need to drop macguffins or 'because the adventure says so' for the game to advance.

Sovereign Court

Hey there guy/gals. Just wanted to post an update on the journal website. We've decided to use it as a general site for journals not just for Kingmaker, but for any other games our gaming group as a whole runs. As such, we've changed to url a bit to better fit this aim. You can find the journal page by following this link.

Now I just have to hope my players start using it more.

Sovereign Court

Sorry for the delay everyone. Been dealing with some RL drama and attempts to save a marriage. Anyway, here's Session 23 for your enjoyment.

They had to burn almost (if not) every Hero Point they had. Turin, here's a bloody battle for you. Thanks for stopping by!

Sovereign Court

Well, after a two-week hiatus for various reasons, we're back with Session 24 and the party's return to Stagfell. It did not go quite as they'd hoped for upon their return. Enjoy!

Sovereign Court

Crazy that summertime is shaping up to be the hardest time to string weeks of continuous play together. Gen Con will of course knock that out again, but the next few should be okay. Anyway, here's Session 25 for your perusal.

Also, a couple more journal entries have made it up on the other site, linked above. Thanks for stopping by.

Sovereign Court

And we've made it to Session 26 where the players take on an island of lizardfolk. Were the enemies mammalian, it would've been hairy. Enjoy.

Sovereign Court

And here is Session 27 and our first PC full-on death. This was also the session I blew up a bit at one of the players (to the enjoyment of the others) for severe lack of attention to her character, but fluff- AND crunch-wise. Anywho...I need some sleep. Enjoy!

Sovereign Court

Here we are yet again, with Session 28 ready for your perusal. Warning, it's a bit lengthy. Enjoy.

Sovereign Court

I know deliver unto ye Session 29. It will be the last log for at least a week, as I and a good portion of my players will be making the trek the Gen Con. Possibly see you there, even if that involves seeing you but not knowing you're THAT avatar-named person!

Sovereign Court

I've finally got Session 30 typed up and ready to go. As a teaser, it contains my first actual PC-kill as a GM. Also, it's a bit on the mature side, in case that bothers anyone. Thanks for reading.
