Paizo + Skirmish Miniature Game = Bliss

Product Discussion

So I played skirmish with my D&D minis for the first time yesterday onlyto find out that WOTC is phasing out of the way they are making minis and the whole D&D mini community is being supported by a seemingly grassroots org. called DDM. So guys at Paizo please buy the rights and/or support DDM and make more awesome pre-painted statted minis so i can add this to my repetoire of gaming, and why I love PAIZO.

Please!?!

It got phased out over a year ago, at least, when they first started their separated, less randomized minis packs. They'd already kind of killed it when they rewrote the rules shortly before that, too. It was a very fun game, but I suspect that, beyond DDMs support, you won't get anything.

Paizo can't buy the rights to the game from WotC, even if they tried, and they've already said they're not sure they'd be able to do a prepainted minis line. They'd have to create something entirely new as far as rules and game go. It's a shame, as DDM was a lot of fun if you had enough minis. I only got to play it a few times, sadly.

The D&D Miniatures game is currently under supported, official license through the DDM Guild. It is still receiving active support, as far as I am aware, including rules for recently released minis, and an organized play tournament schedule. I don't see any reason why you couldn't add this to your repertoire of gaming right now.

I am adding it to my current repetoire. I am just so tired of what Hasbro has done to WOTC. I was looking for a lifeboat for another fav of mine. Maybe we could start wearing ribbons and doing fundraisers for DDM guild. So Scott what is the next set any news?

The next set will be "Lords of Madness", due out in August.

Per the announcement at D&D Experience, they're going back to a fully-random pack, with 6 minis per pack.

There's others if you look around.

I don't know if Wizards ever published a formal announcement on their website, but they were the ones that released the info at D&DXP.

Specifically, the announcement of the "limited" gargantuan Orcus, the LoM set, the details of the set (blind 6-pack, huge set, $21.99/pack), and some rumor of a "surprise" release in the minis arena.

WotC has also put LoM back on the product catalog.

Cool, thanks for the update. I know a couple of my friends are going to be very interested to hear this.

For what it's worth, they're also going back to a 60-mini set, instead of the 40-mini set they did for Dangerous Delves/Legendary Evils/Savage Encounters.

Sadly, this means you'll have to buy more packs to get the whole set, but it will be nice to see the larger sets.

I am happy to see the minis doing okay. i am a paizonian first and foremost, however it is nice to see wizards doing okay enough in the mini market to try again. may they find good fortune and good profits.
That being said, hooray for paizo minis from reaper! now for minis of other cool things like the drow archmage from SD, and while we are at it, Sharofa Pamodae too. The wizard dude from the cover of the preceding second darkness is cool too. then there is the contract devil from CoCT and the...

I believe what everyone would prefer in regards to mini games, regardless of who supports the ruleset, is reasonably priced minis with decent paint quality. But to meet that any company would have to mass produce a mini line, and if they do not sell well, then the rest is history.

We should all be grateful there are plenty of minis to choose from due to past releases, but I believe the future may be more bleak, if sales continue to plummet.

I am not sure if there is a magical formula to sell minis and make a profit. And the days where I paint my own miniatures are long gone, as I don't have the time or inclination.

wizards had those once. Long, long time ago. And then they increased the prices and decreased the quality. When I got out, I saw some rares (those they always say they can make more elaborate) that looked more crappy than some of the commons (a dime a dozen, except more expensive) in the better days.

I suspect you mean Nolvennis. I agree. I could use a mini of a squirrel wizard, too. :D
