Though it may not be clear on the map because the scan is not that great, I11 is in the middle of the river, so you may want to move to J11 or H12. If you insist on the river, then need a Fort Save due to the freezing cold temperature.

Male Human Ranger 1

Garyn trots out from behind the bushes and moves towards the river (stopping at H9) and fires at the bandit on the opposite bank standing toe-to-toe with the injured Cale (bandit B8).

Attack roll - 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Damage roll - 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Ok, this will be Garyn's Round 3 action. Waiting for Cale, Silstaren, and Greehr to post Round 2 actions.

Male Elf Ranger

Cale goes down and Silstaren swears inwardly. Cailean take it all. We can't afford a close fight with this crew, but we can't run now. "That's Kressle in the middle!"

In a second it's going to be blades.

Waiting to see Greehr's action.

Oops! Didn't mean to jump the gun. Sounds great to me.

Since Greehr posted some possible actions, I'll run him this round

Greehr sees the situation is grave, with the bandits outnumbering them. He quickly moves to G13, creates a bomb, and lauches it at Buck and Nigel (Bandits B3 and B4), who are adjacent to each other, "Cheers, mates, hope you like it hot!" The glass vial flies through the air, catching Nigel in the shoulder, shattering, as it envelops him in liquid flame that engulfs his face and body. Nigel's screams rip through the night, as he drops his bow, rips off his burning fur cloak, and falls to the ground, trying to put out the fire and cool his burning body in the snow. The hot liquid also manages to splash onto Buck, who is behind Nigel, burning him as well across the neck and shoulder, causing him to scream in pain, as he futilely tries to get out of the way.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 to Nigel
Buck's Reflex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7, failure, he takes 4 splash damage

Male Human Fighter 2 (Weapon Master)

Cale looks in shock at the dagger wound and his eyes glaze over as a haze fills his vision. The pain subsides, barely, when Strovan uses his spell to help the boy stay conscious. Cale's brain goes in a different direction from his heart at this point. The words, "Fall back..!" are the only ones that he can form right now, and even as they exit his mouth, his eyes lock onto Kressle with a cold malice. He runs full out at her, his sword chopping at her without much art to it.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

I'm a little confused... Didn't we see Kressle at the beginning of the combat? How many bandits are down at this point? The link to the map says it's been deleted. We solve these mysteries and more... next episode!

Male Elf Ranger

Silstaren drops his bow and charges toward Kressle. His sword sweeps from the sheath as he runs.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 If I can't charge, subtract 2 from attack roll.
Damage 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

I figure 4.5 bandits + Kressle remain. (Buck is hurting pretty bad)

I was unaware of the missing link. Here is an updated combat map with your current positions, prior to Cale's actions, in case we need to retcon them. There are 5 current bandits (2 wounded) still fighting (gave them names instead of B8, etc.) and Kressle. Buck, the one who just took 8 pts of damage, is effectively out of the fight, rolling on the floor. 2 of the 5 bandits are wounded, as indicated. FYI: Yes, you saw Kressle in the surprise round. 1st round, she went into the bushes and used stealth (she is a ranger after all) and got a 23, so she disappeared. In Round 2, she attacked from stealth and came out into view again. Finally, Cale cannot charge her, there is an obstacle in the way (the log). So, if he attacks her, the roll is +5 not +7, for a total of 16, or he could attack another bandit. Let me know. You can change your action if you want.
EDIT: Same goes for Silstaren, after reading this.

Updated Combat Map

Male Dwarf Exp: 500 Cleric 1

That location is fine, didn't realize the water part on my first move I think I might have been one off on my hexes. But no I didn't want to be standing in a river. I do like how you don't even bother giving the non-humans names, just dwarf or elf.

That was humor of course, I constantly have to remind myself that my sarcastic quips don't always translate well in text.

Male Elf Ranger

Even without the charge, I'm still attacking Kressle from H17.

Strovan wrote:

I thought someone might make a comment about this, as I found it funny too. Nothing against non-humans, just your names were too long to shrink into your square.

Summary of Round 2

21- Garyn (shot and missed)
14- Bandits (all shot and missed)
14- Kressle (threw dagger, nearly took out Cale)
14- Greehr (moved and threw bomb, taking out Nigel, wounding Buck)
8- Sil (moved to attack Kressle, wounding her, now in H17)
7- Strovan (moved and healed Cale)
7- Cale (moved and swung at Kressle, but she parried his swing w/her handaxe, now at I17)

EDIT: If after seeing the map, this is not accurate, Cale, let me know

Round 3

21- Garyn
14- Bandits
14- Kressle
14- Greehr
8- Sil
7- Strovan
7- Cale

21- Garyn (moved to H9, shot and missed bandit)
14 - Bandits delay (till after Kressle)

Male Human Fighter 2 (Weapon Master)

Okay cool, thanks for the updated map. Cale will still yell to fall back, now that I see a clear path of escape. I'll 5ft to J13 instead, though, and use that 16 on Hoss there.

Greehr smirks at the explosive effect of his bomb, and perhaps getting ahead of himself, walks in, batting at the burning bandits with his cane.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Well, at least the projected actions had some use. A little confused with the map though. Is Nigel still alive but prone? Either way, I doubt he's in the position to do anything. Greehr moves to G16. Attack goes to Buck.

Cale nil Surtova wrote:

That works for Round 2 You wound Hoss, cutting him deeply, but he still lives.

Greehr wrote:

He's still alive but out of the fight

Kressle's Round 3 action:

Kressle sneers at the elf, after she fell for his feint and failed to block his sword blow. With great speed, she pulls out another handaxe with her off hand, and swings both handaxes at Silstaren, screaming "You won't escape my axes this time!" Both of her swings connect, spraying blood over the white snow, as the blades dig deep into Silstaren's ribs. Silstaren is at 0 hps and disabled. Kressle smiles, as she looks at the wobbly elf, and steps back 5' to H19, yelling, "Someone kill this elf, already!"

Attack #1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Attack #2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Male Human Fighter 2 (Weapon Master)

Seeing Silstaren drop, Cale yells his frustration as the plan falls apart in a bloody way. Everything in him is screaming to run away, but he can't leave Sil behind. Ignoring the lackey he just injured, Cale moves closer to Kressle, glaring at her with disdain as he swings a skillful slash across the woman's abdomen. "Fall back, Sil!"

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 Attack
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Crit confirm! or not
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 damage

Moving to H18.

Bandits' Turn for Round 3:

*Hoss, gripping his wounded side, swings at Cale with his short sword, but misses.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

*Nigel continues rolling on floor in agony.

*Buck sreams curses at Greehr, "You bastard, you will pay for that!", as he shoots him with his longbow. The arrow heads straight and nails Greehr in the chest, nearly knocking him backwards, opening a grievous wound! "Yeah! Take that!"

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 uh oh...possible crit!
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 oooh, lucky!
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

*Taryn sees the wobbly elf and thinks Momma, you couldn't have made this one easier for me, as he loads his crossbow and shoots, but the elf manages to evade the bolt. Taryn curses!

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

*Daryl steps to J16. He hears Krin say, "Leave the elf for me!" He draws an arrow and shoots Strovan, going straight for his heart, but the power of his faith and his deity redirects the arrow to his shoulder!

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 uh oh...another possible crit!
Confirm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 Confirmed!
Damage: 3d8 ⇒ (1, 3, 2) = 6 How lucky!

*Finally, Krin steps to J17, looks at the elf, and says "It's over boy!", but his actions do not back up his words, as he misses!

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Much better rolls for me that round! The drama is building! Anyone's fight!

Silstaren is not down, just at 0 hps (still standing). Cale, your actions provoke an attack of opportunity from Hoss, which may take you out, so please confirm your action before I roll the attack

Male Elf Ranger

Silstaren clutches at his abdomen with his right hand. "Aaargh." His left hand wards off Krin's clumsy attack.
?Deathlok, 3d8 on the crit to Strovan?

Need a ruling: When staggered, Can I still take a 5 foot step and attack?

IF SO: The elf wraps his right hand around the hilt. Maintaining contact with Krin's sword, he raises his long curved blade and sweeps it overhead to his left. Then the elf lunges to his right toward Kressle. His sword scythes upward toward the woman's gut.

IF NOT: The elf wraps his right hand around the hilt. Holding his left hand in tight to his stomach, levers the blade under Krin's guard toward his momentarily unprotected groin.

In either case :
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Damage 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Crying in pain, he can't finish the cut. He drops to the ground.

Aravan, I did notice the discrimination against the non-humans, but guessed our names were too long.

Deathlok and Guys, That will leave Silstaren at -1 hp. If he dies, he dies. I can take that. Don't get everyone killed trying to save him.

Male Human Fighter 2 (Weapon Master)

I really don't want to leave Sil here to die. Everyone's wounded within an inch of their life. Cale will just slaughter the bandit here in his face with that one attack roll then move forward to cover Sil. I don't know if Strovan can reach you with a burst or not.

Silstaren wrote:

?Deathlok, 3d8 on the crit to Strovan?

Yep, longbows do 1d8 and crit modifier is x3, nasty!

Silstaren wrote:
Need a ruling: When staggered, Can I still take a 5 foot step and attack?

Yes, you can, as long as you know that any strenuous action, like combat will leave you at -1 hps and dying

Summary of Round 3 so far

21- Garyn (moved to H9 and missed)
14- Kressle (went full attack on Sil, took 5' step back)
14- Bandits (shot and missed, shot and crit, and shot and hit)
14- Greehr (moved to G16 and crushed poor Buck's head in with cane)
8- Sil (valiantly tried to swing at Kressle, but she parried his blow and he fell unconscious in square H18)
7- Cale (drove his blade through poor Hoss' heart and moved to H17)
7- Strovan (waiting to finish round)

HP tally:
Garyn 10/10
Greehr 2/10
Sil -1
Cale 3/11
Strovan 3/9

EDITED Cale and Strovan's actions

Male Human Fighter 2 (Weapon Master)

So if Strovan killed Hoss do I still get an AO moving toward Kressle?

Cale nil Surtova wrote:

My mistake, that was supposed to be your entry not Strovan's, I will edit it now. Thanks!

Male Dwarf Exp: 500 Cleric 1

Awww hell this isn't looking so good. At this point I canna say falling back would do any good, for better or worse we are neck deep. Strovan then lifts up a battered wooden mug concentrates briefly and a quick pulse of power bathes the battle. he then drops his crossbow and draws his rapier.

Standard action Channel Positive Energy (using selective channeling to only heal our party members.) Free action drop the crossbow. Move action draw my rapier.

Channel Energy -1d6 ⇒ 3

If I have to make a 5' step forward to reach everyone with the channel I will

Nice move! And Sil was just at the 30' edge of the effect's reach, so he wakes up, prone on ground with his sword on the floor and 2 hps. And I assume you use your selective channeling (keep effect from healing one person) to keep Nigel from getting healed, since no other enemy is hurt or in range.

Round 4 Feels like a decisive round

21- Garyn
14- Kressle
14- Bandits (Taryn, Krin, and Daryl)
14- Greehr
8- Sil
7- Strovan
7- Cale

HP tally:
Garyn 10/10
Greehr 5/10
Sil 2/10
Cale 6/11
Strovan 6/9

Male Dwarf Exp: 500 Cleric 1

Yes, on the not healing Nigel.

Male Human Ranger 1

Gods damn it! Garyn curses inwardly, lining up a shot at the nearest bandit. We have to take these bastards down now!

Attack roll (at nearest bandit, not sure which, or Taryn if he's within 30 feet since I believe he's injured - if he's not within the 30 foot range, Garyn will shoot whichever bandit is closest...sorry can't get the map to open at the office!) - 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Damage roll - 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Oooh, not a good start for me.Garyn's arrow ends Daryl's miserable existence.

Kressle delays till after the Bandits

Bandits' Round 4 actions:

*Taryn shoots Greehr with his crossbow, scoring a hit, but not taking the mad bomber out.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3

*Krin shoots the cleric, Strovan, but the shot goes awry. He moves back to M20. Worry starts to form on the bandits' faces, as they realize their numbers have been lowered to just 2.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Kressle yells, "Screw this!" and moves into the cover provided by the tree to the south of her. No AoO from Sil, as he is not armed. She moves to E20 (difficult terrain).

Perception check for all of you

Rest of party is up!

FYI: Tree area provides +4 cover from ranged attacks

Male Dwarf Exp: 500 Cleric 1

Perception -1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Wating to declare my actions till after my perception check.

Well never mind my check, waiting to see what Sil and Greehr do.

Male Elf Ranger

perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Lying on the ground Silstaren feels Cayden's power wash through him. Strovan! He reaches for his sword intending to surprise Kressle from below, but the bandit leader runs away before he has even grasped the hilt.

Using his arms and legs to push himself erect, the elf looks in the direction Kressle fled.

Do I see her? Standing is going to take a full move action, right? So I can't catch her anyway?

Male Dwarf Exp: 500 Cleric 1

Actually since I think I go before Cale, and not sure when/if Greehr is going to be able to post I might as well go.

Strovan again bathes the battlefield in a feeling of restoration and then with an amazing grace rushes after Kressle.

Channeling energy again(once again Nigel doesn't get healed), and then using Agile Feet ability and my 40' move I will run to where I think Kressle might be. Moving 3 spaces diagonally to the SE which should cost me 20', then 4 spaces east for another 20' ignoring all difficult terrain. That should put me at E19 let me know if I can make another perception check.

Channel Energy -1d6 ⇒ 3

Hectic, apparently. I like the mad bomber bit. I should be one.

The arrow stuck deep, but Greehr manages to bat the pain away long enough to swing with at the offending bandit. He pulls out the arrow, its barbed tip catching on loose skin and leather, and throws it away, muttering a curse. Just in time for another arrow to enter the open wound.

More than just annoyed, he pulls another vial out of his pouch, and with a quick spit and shake, hurls it with great force at the tower.

Throwing a bomb at Taryn's position, I should be within 20ft. If not, I move closer. H19 should about do it.
Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
I checked, apparently, the Throw Anything feat gives a +1 to attack for thrown splash weapons, which I think includes the bomb. No matter, Nat20! whoo! I wish all my rolls were like that.

Silstaren wrote:
Using his arms and legs to push himself erect, the elf looks in the direction Kressle fled.

For Silstaren:
You see her run away and as she heads into the bushes, you see she pulls out a glass vial and is grasping it in her left hand
Silstaren wrote:
Do I see her? Standing is going to take a full move action, right? So I can't catch her anyway?

Yes, you see her, she did not use stealth when she ran into the bushes. Standing will be a move action. If you want to grab your sword, that will be another move action, so you would be done for the round

Strovan wrote:
That should put me at E19 let me know if I can make another perception check.

No need for a perception check, as she is not using stealth. With your agile feet ability, you easily intercept her at E19. You see she has a handaxe in each hand and is grasping a vial of blue liquid awkwardly as well. She is surprised and angered to see you.

Greehr wrote:

I believe since it requires an attack roll, you can crit with a splash weapon, so you should have rolled a confirmation roll on the threat. It did not matter in this case and good catch on the +1 bonus due to feat.

The vial flies through the air and catches Taryn in the chest, blowing him and his body parts off the platform in a great explosion.

Waiting for Cale to end the round. Only 1 scared bandit (Krin) and Kressle left

Male Human Fighter 2 (Weapon Master)

Cale staggers after Kressle, strengthened once more by Strovan's burst of positive energy. "How quickly the tide changes, b#@@%." He swings his blade swiftly, intent on cutting the woman down.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Attack
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Damage
1d20 ⇒ 5 Perception

Male Dwarf Exp: 500 Cleric 1

Would it possible for me to shout something right at the end of my turn since she was easy for me to spot?

If I am able to shout something:
Strovan shouts from the foliage, "She's right here gents"

Male Dwarf Exp: 500 Cleric 1

Ignore that entire last post of mine I finally figured out that the perception check wasn't to see her, ahh the downfalls of PbP, and then the comprehension after drinking 6 pints of Guinness

Didn't notice the perception check. Well, always worth a try. 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15

Male Elf Ranger

Refreshed (5/10) and rearmed with his sword, Silstaren looks after the fleeing Kressle and at Krin.
