Appearance:
Strovan is a sturdily built dwarf who greets everyone he meets with a beaming smile. His face is framed by long blond hair and a neatly trimmed beard. Loose flowing orange and red clothing almost conceal the glint of metal armor. At one hip is a shinning rapier and at the other is an always present beer stein. He walks with a decided swagger and there always seems to be a roguish twinkle in his eyes.
Background:
As the second son of a wealthy mining clan in the Sky Citadel of Janderhoff Strovan's duty was clear. He would grow up and oversee the mining shafts owned by his clan, and eventually be the right hand of his older brother the eventual clan leader. For as long as he could remember almost every decision about his life had been chosen for him. For decades he put aside any personal desires and only pursued the duties given to him by his clan. Just before his 40th year he fell in love with a dwarven girl whose family were simple barkeeps. Reasoning that as the second son there would be no shame in marrying below his station he approached his father asking if they could marry. The clan forbade the marriage, and for the first time in his life Strovan decided to disobey their wishes. Since no church in Janderhoff would marry them they decided to travel to Veldraine a human city where his clan has little or no influence. They hired a group of ore smugglers to get them out of the city without his parents finding out. However the smugglers decided that holding the son of a rich clan for ransom was worth a lot more than what they were being paid. Unwilling to pay a ransom, but not wanting to lose his son Strovan's father hired a group of adventurers to rescue Strovan. Being only hired to rescue Strovan they left his love in the house with the kidnappers and then proceded to burn it down to cover their escape. Furious at his father, and believing that she had been killed intentionally Strovan returned to his family blind with rage. Grabbing a decorative battleaxe off the wall he attacked his father but was quickly subdued. The clan's punishment was severe, he was stripped of the clan name, and banished from Janderhoff with only the clothes he was wearing.
