I was toying with the idea of a game of pathfinder where the level of magic was ramped up a bit, and everyone used magic. Was wondering what everyone one thought of the idea, and if they had any ideas or any advice they wanted to add.
The Purpose: few ideas about rule changes and the feel I'm going for... still in very early development.
Classes
quick note, these classes would replace the standard classes, and are more powerful. so don't try to balance them against the core.
(warrior) mage: High BAB lowest magic, gains 2nd level spells at 5th level. essentially a gish.
(general) mage: Medium BAB medium magic, gains 2nd level spells at 4th level. Somewhere in between the other two.
(utility) mage: poor Bab, highest magic, gains 2nd level spells at 3rd level. more traditional mage.
I still don't have any class features for the moment, obviously the warriors should have something to do with fighting, something that helps blend fighting with magic. Utility is the more traditional type of caster. where general would be somewhere in between.
I am thinking about spell points form the unearthed arcana, not positive though. everyone will be spells known, very similar to a sorcerer.
If anyone has any good ideas let me know i will add more as i can.

I'm not sure this is what you're looking to do but rather than create 3 new classes (which from what I read would be the only classes in the game) you could just give all of the existing classes access to spells. You could give the Fighter, Rogue, and Monk spells similar to how Rangers and Paladin's get them. Like I said though, I'm not sure that's what you're looking to do.
EDIT: I suppose you could also just make the game gestalt and house rule it that one of the 2 gestalt classes have to be a magic user. Once again, I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for.

This is how I would handle it as well. I toyed with the idea of a campaign like this, and created gestalt classes linking specialist wizards to specific classes. So, there was the paladin/abjurationist, the druid/summoner, the bard/enchanter, etc.

I decided to go a gestaltish approach:
The idea is you choose a class, add the spell casting to the class, and choose a package of abilities that i have yet to put together. It will be like the spell casting classes special abilities, but more options and slightly different. As soon as i put them together i will post them.

Quite seriously D20 is probably the WORST possible game system you could use for this kind of campaign because of the all or nothing ness of D20 magic.
Something like 4th edition, RuneQuest, GURPS, or Element Masters, would be more suited. for the theme where everyone has a magical edge without being a something/arcanist gestalt.

I agree that there are better suited systems out there for this type of game, but i still want to see how far i can get this to go. Even when I do play these other systems, they always tend to taper off and me and my group always tends to be back to 3.5/pathfinder. I want to see if I can make this into something interesting that works. It might be a challenge, and there are diffidently better gaming systems to do this with, but i want to challenge myself and see where i can take this idea. Worst case it crashes and burns, best it works out good and a few people can use it.
