Garion: you're currently in the room at I4
Nik: Welcome back, I don't think Samant was hiding it particularly well, but if he was then you can make a Sense Motive check against his Bluff check.
Samant: Are you back from your honeymoon now? Have fun?
The 'kitten' follows Nik without much goading, and still tries to climb her leg from time to time, but is easily shaken off. The group make their way from platform to platform once more, until they reach the platform that moves adjacent to the remaining door leading from the large central room.

Safekeeping? Zeldin questions, with raised eyebrows and a twinkle in his eye, I think ale in front of Garion would be safer than the things in your pocket would be for the Lady's return.
I knew there was a reason I should have prayed for Create Water this morning rather than Light, says Garion, laughing.

The 'kitty-toy' leaps up onto its hind legs as Nik waves about her flowery wayfinder, it does seem pretty interested in the thing.
Once the platform reaches the door again, about half a minute after it's last pass, Nik is ready and manages to slide a thin length of wire into a tiny gap in the mechanism of the lock, catching on something within with a slight click. Just as the platform pulls her away, several segments of the mechanism of the lock begin to rotate, She gets the impression that she has made some progress, but she'll need to keep at it when she gets carried back around.

I wonder why the automation is interested in your way finder Nik
Knowledge Local for discerning if Nik's new special Wayfinder was the same style as Lady Anita's or Knowledge history?

Samant's Knowledge(Local) check is good enough to recall a comment made about Nik's Wayfinder by a resident of the area:
"That looks just like Lady Anita's Wayfinder!" Ivan exclaims with a gasp, raising both hands to his mouth, "she said she had it commissioned to her own design!"
:P

so I need to do three rereads.
Nik I think you may have a wayfinder that either was LAdy Anita's or looks enough like it that they automation is trying to get at it. I wonder if the Lady made a way for her creations to... interact with the wayfinder somehow? I think once we have reached the next room set your wayfinder down and let's see what happens if you're willing of course.
To Garion and Zeldin: Is that possible?

In a deft flick of her wrist, Nik manages to flick open a concealed panel on the mechanism that hides several switches. At a glance she immediately identifies the one that must be activated next and flips it.
Once more the platform moves away from the door before the job can be completed, but Nik is confident that she has made significant progress.

Nik quickly flips the remaining switches within the concealed compartment, and just as the platform moves away, the rotation of the mechanical segments ceases, and a more conventional looking lock is revealed from behind them.
Nik is approximately (okay, exactly,) 66% of the way through opening this complex lock.

Nik easily clicks the conventional lock open, to open what seems to be the final compartment of this convoluted locking mechanism, within is a complex lattice of thin wires that appear to link to tiny internal bolts.
NIK is on a roll!
She is! It'll be just one more check if she keeps this up.

With a quick flourish, Nik tries to pull on the correct wires to open the door, just as she begins the motion though she senses that something is wrong and releases the wires before anything unfortunate might happen.
Unfortunately that wasn't quite high enough to finish the job, on the other hand, it wasn't low enough to have any negative consequences either.
