I lived in San Antonio for 3 years, and one summer, we had over 60 straight days of 90+ degree temps.
The humidity wasn't too bad, though.
I spent the first 29 years of my life down south (Louisiana and Mississippi). And I spent many summer working in my dad's dry cleaners. We'd hit 120 degrees or so inside the building.

Sounds like the engine room of an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf. 120+ daily. And the humidity from the steam on top of that. Even night watches were insanely hot.

This past winter was the worst. We got like 3 heavy snowfalls in less than two weeks. And by heavy, I mean multiple feet heavy. I thought I had hated snow before.....

Howdy, y'all! Just stopping through. With this insane schedule this week, I haven't had time to post anything, but I'm still lurking.
I managed to get through yesterday without having a nervous breakdown...although I really wanted to.
I was able to channel a massive amount of nervous stress into handling a crisis with the local area network for which I am, unfortunately, responsible. What I mean by that is the people who maintain it work for me, but I don't know nearly enough about how the system works.
What I do know is how to get people moving so they can come to the ship and help us fix it when it breaks.
Odd how scrambling to manage a crisis is somehow more comforting than dealing with the "normal" daily routine around here...
Anyway, I hope everyone has a good night. I'll be spending the rest of the evening terrorizing my combat watch team with tactical scenarios...using really big weapons...but without ammo...yet. ;)

Lucky you. My first winter up here I had to shovel out from 2 or 3 feet. That was when I had an apartment, and only had to shovel out my car, and my (then) girlfriends. Now that I own a house, it sucks even worse. Gotta shovel out my driveway, clean off both cars, shovel the sidewalk, the back porch, and a little way into the street.

Yeah, but it was terrifying to drive in. It was coming down pretty hard and I had never driven in snow. And I had no clue what a snow brush was....the girl I was working with had a good laugh over that one.
