[LPJ Design] FREE Races of Obsidian Twilight: Genesai (PRPG) Preview released

Product Discussion

Louis Porter Jr. Design, has released its next preview for the upcoming post apocalyptic survival horror fantasy setting, Obsidian Twilight for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. Here is information on the Races of Obsidian Twilight: Genesai (PRPG) Preview:

Genesai are the direct result of demonic outsiders mating with angelic outsiders in defiance of all that both sides of the eternal conflict between good and evil consider inviolate. In other worlds and other planes of existence this might be all but unthinkable but the nature of Abaddon as a planar ‘trap’ throws these opposites together far more often than in other places and whatever else there might be between the agents of good and evil they at least have a commonality as outsiders and, to an extent, can become stuck, mired in Abaddon as much as any other planar traveler. Outcasts from the moment they are born the Genesai are almost always abandoned by their parents immediately following their birth, either to be raised by mortals who take pity on the child, to perish in the wilderness or – very rarely – to be raised by sympathetic animals such as wolves.

Whether coincidental or not, it reminds me of the Chelaxian Tiefling in the Golarion setting (quite uncanny, actually).

If they're named after their infernal (or celestial) parents in reverse ... if they were abandoned in the beginning, how would they necessarily know who their biological parents are in order to name themselves accordingly?

This would definitely be a tough PC race to play given its ostrascizing (sic) with practially all the other inhabitants of Abaddon. :P

We built in on the concept of in a "closed environment, people are going t mate with who is there, so devils and angel mating is not that great of a stretch.

This is not in every cause, but a common idea. Some just make up names they like.

So would the Harrowed, Exalted, Lykian, Khymer and let's not even talk about the Raijin (Coming soon) and there effect in a party.

Now if the mating was volunteered or not is left up to the DM running the campaign, I'm sure.

Woe be the xenophobe in the party group off adventuring on Abaddon. One would probably have to worry about being stabbed in the back from their peers than the enemies they're supposed to face. :P

Remember we said the setting was "Post Apocalyptic Survivial Horror". Survival is the name of the game in this setting, so you make friends for as long as you need each other.

Will you be putting out example adventures or adventure seeds for the setting so interested parties can understand your initial ideas behind survival horror and party cooperation (as long as you're still needed)?
