In the spirit of political sharing, I have decided to share my views.
I believe that most political threads are redundant and repeat the same points over and over.
I believe that the Off Topic Discussion forums are better and even more meaningful when they are full of idle silliness.

I don't know why those other threads get more posts than this one...
I wouldn't take it as an insult. I find that a lot of times, when a thread doesn't get a lot of posts, it's because most people silently agree with the general premise of the poster's thread.
If you really want to get a lot of posts, try saying something polarizing like, "I think global warming is a fact," or "I think Captain Picard could totally kick Captain Kirk's ass." Make sure that your post is entirely based on opinion, insinuate that anyone who disagrees with you is stupid or prejudiced, and frequently quote other posters out of context. That's the best way to ensure that you get a lot of posts. :)
