Bug: 'Clear All' button on the Levels sheet results in a 'Cannot change part of a merged cell' error.

'Range("O2").ClearContents' is the culprit.

I am running the Office 2003 version in Office 2007 so that may be the issue.

Thanks, it is an issue with my code. I will fix it for next update.

The latest release is now available at www.d20.ca

Alpha version 0.69

Revision:

I have added an animal companions page. This page will remain hidden until you select classes whose levels offer them animal companions (Druid 1, Ranger 4 (with appropriate bond choice), Paladin 5 (with appropriate bond choice). I have included only the animal companion feats in the feat lists for them, as the page is ideally designed for an Int 1 or 2 animal.

Paladins shouldnt have any problems with their Int 6 mounts, although they still will only be able to select from the animal feats. Alternatively, they can type in any feat name they want, but any feat not from the animal list (like Improved Critical) will not alter the base stats, so you will have to use the override cells to change animal stats. The same goes for skills.

I don't really plan to develop this animal sheet much more, since I want to focus on this being a "character creator" and not an "animal creator". The animal sheet is farily comprehensive though and should include everything you need to flesh out your Int 1 or 2 animal companions, and 99% of the info you need for your paladin mount.

This took quite a bit of time to develop, so I'm a little wary of working on famliars now. However, it doesn't seem right to not include them and I can probably copy a lot of the same structure as animal companions. I probably won't have them included before GenCon which was my original target date.

Oooh....yummy! Much thanks for adding this.

One thing I need to update with the animal companions page is the General Purpose training. I didn't really see a reason why a person would take it over individual tricks. I now see two reasons why one would:

1. Combat Training purpose will allow you drop a horse's docile ability. (At least I am assuming the reference to "trained for combat" in the Bestiary is a reference to this purpose, and not a general reference to the attack, defend and down tricks.

2. I'm assuming that the purposes give you both attack tricks (attack regular creatures and attack unnatural creatures), so some of the packages are a better deal than picking the individual tricks.

I also have to break "attack" into the two afforementioned attack tricks.

As a player I have generally ignored General Purposes, since I didn't see the logic in taking selections that don't give you the full amount of tricks like "Heavy Labor" that only gives you 2 (other than reduced training time).

WHOOPS!

Please don't select "Clear Sheet" on the Animals Sheet.

After recording this macro, I forgot to hit "stop recording", so then it recorded my next hours worth of work changes into the macro as well.

The latest release is now available at www.d20.ca

Alpha version 0.70

Revision:

- Added "General Purpose" to animals. (However I now realize I didn't limit the selections for Int 1 mounts, so that will be in the next update).
- Fixed a macro error on the animals sheet.

Note: I also forgot to change a horse's hoof attacks to primary if it has combat training -- this will be included on 0.71.

I just tried adding a level of Pathfinder Chronicler to a Bard 6 and the Special 'Deep Pocket' feature did not show up. Has this been not been implemented?

Wow! Lots of work on this one. I like the new animal companion functionality and the new bonuses page you put together looks great! Looking forward to using it.

Quick note on the Animal page when entering Tricks, the value from the third box down does not display on the Summary page or on the Page4(a)(b).

That's the only thing at the moment. One other question for you is, do you have a direction for both functionality and content you are going to be adding?

Thanks and keep up the great work.

The feature is there, but I accidentally typed a space after the class name on the table I check for a match with the selected classes. It will be fixed on the next version.

Thanks, I have it fixed now.

I have broken down and decided to add in familiars now.

I was working on the Arms guide items, but I decided I want all the core rulebook info in the sheet prior to GenCon. The next priority will be the Arms guide, and then the huge task of the Advanced Player's Guide. Its great that they give each class so many variants... and allow multiple variants... which is going to make it a living hell for me to code :)

After that, it will have to be the Orcs guide. Its even possible, the Orcs guide will take precedence over the APG. All hail the mighty orcs!!! RARRRRGGGGHH!!!!

I found one other thing that has jumped out at me. Looks like human has perhaps picked up an extra skill racial bonus for acrobatics.

"NOTES
COMBAT: Attack and damage bonuses vs [aberrations +2]
SKILLS: Bonus to Bluff, Perception, Sense Motive and Survival checks vs [aberrations +2]; +1 bonus on Perception checks to follow or identify tracks; 2 racial bonus on Acrobatics jump checks
"

Umm,yeah, all hail the orcs...wanders off...

But seriously, I continue to look forward to each release that you provide for this sheet.

More stuff on the animal companion pieces.

1) When selecting initial animal companion, the animal page links up just fine. Don't have the book in front of me at the moment to get the exact verbiage, but as the Druid or Ranger goes up in level, they can choose from a larger list of Animal Companions. Right now, the only place the animal companion resides, for the Ranger at least is at level 4. As the character advances in level, the list in that drop down expands.

However selecting a companion from the expanded list, results in a #N/A over on the Animal page in the Animal Type field.

2) Now take these next thoughts with a grain of salt, but would it be a possibility to allow the Animal Companion option to appear at each level where the class has the option to "change" animal companions? If they choose a new one, populate the Animal page with the new stats, clearing all the old data associated with the original animal companion.

3) What I also don't know again as I don't have the book in front of me, is if you choose a new animal companion at a higher level, how much "advancement" do you get to do with the animal?

For example, I choose a horse at 4th level and upgrade the horse along the way as the character advances, the horse dies for whatever reason, and I choose a new animal companion, say a Roc at the appropriate level, do I start out with them as if I were choosing them for the first time and only get the beginning bonuses as if this was back at the initial 4th level of the character?

Which brings up another question, if I loose the animal companion for whatever reason at a level where the character is in between animal advancement options, I end up going back to the previous level where I was eligible to choose from a particular set of animal companions, rather than the notation that I am choosing a new companion at my current level...

Things that make me go hmmmmm.

I haven't been able to recreate this error: "2 racial bonus on Acrobatics jump checks"

This is somehow related to the skill bonus that characters get for land speeds higher or lower than 30. I also notice that I was calculating the bonus if the speed was "just" higher/lower than 30' -- where-as it needs to only be in increments of 10' higher/over. I suspect that the error may been related to 5' speed adjustment, such as the Fleet feat.

I have now fixed this.

Heya Kor - I've noticed that in 0.70 the encumbrance doesn't seem to update correctly. The tally on Page 1 of my total weight only ever increases. But the tally on the Items tab correctly goes up and down.

I have added an override field for animal type on the animal screen. I agree that this was really needed, as not all druids keep the same companions throughout their levels, and my general design philosphy was that a player should not have to hunt through selections of prior levels to change existing stats.

3) What I also don't know again as I don't have the book in front of me, is if you choose a new animal companion at a higher level, how much "advancement" do you get to do with the animal?

Any replacement animal is based solely on the "effective druid level" (or what I term as the "effective animal companion class level"). Basically, you get an even swap.

The latest release is now available at www.d20.ca

Alpha version 0.72

Revision:

- Several fixes to the Animals tab
- Added an "animal override" selection to the Animals tab
- Fixed a problem with the Adept's spell list
- Added deities from Gods & Magic, plus the (PF 3.5) domains of creation, scalykind and void. (Thank you to Eric T. for doing most of the work on this one)
- Fixed the jump bonus calculations for land speeds +/- 30'
- Pathfinder Chronicler, Deep Pocket ability now displaying properly.

Thanks Lorekeeper, I forgot to look into this for version .72

I'll look into it now and get it fixed for the next version.

I am having a problem with a dwarven barbarian I am trying to stat up.

As a dwarf, I start at 20' move and am never encumbered by weight or armor, so it should have no effect on my speed.

As a barbarian, I get 10' move as a class bonus, and can wear medium armor (which should not encumber me, thanks to my dwarven build).

Total move should be 30' in any light or medium armor.

When I put on my +2 breastplate, the spreadsheet tells me I have a move of 25' broken down thusly:

Ground 25' (base 20'; modifier 10'; armor-5')

Why is it subtracting 5' for the armor?

If I recall, that's the speed reduction for creatures with a base 20 speed. I suspect there is a logic mix up. It would probably be helpful in pin-pointing the problem if you change classes and see if the issues remains.

Thanks, I found the problem. Next version will be calculating it correctly. I found this to be quite a complicated calculation, and adding in the Dwarf ability didn't help :)

That depends how you are doing it. Could you give Dwarf a blanket exemption in the rule?

I only have one minor qualm. It seems that when I equip a character in the "Items" tab but choose not to "tally" it, it still shows up in the characters encumberance. This is for the general equipment, when I use the "Arms" submenu under the "Items" tab, it acts normally.

As a side note, any chance of adding stuff from the "Advanced Players Guide" (APG)? This is one of the best character creators that I have seen in a while and it would be great if the APG stuff was added too!

Over all, I give this 4.875 stars! The only thing keeping from a 5 is the aformentioned glitch. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for trying out the sheet.

1) Item Weight: The current Tally toggle on the Items sheet is to tally the gold amount. Originally I was not planning to add a weight tally toggle, since it then felt like too many "toggles" for every selected item. But I agree that it is needed and I will be adding in an individual weight toggle in the future. If you don't want the items to tally weight at all right now, then you can go to the Options page and uncheck "Allow equipment weight to effect encumbrance". If its just 1 item you don't want to add, then just enter its weight as a negative adjustment on the Item page, menu column.

2) APG: Good news and bad news :) I do plan to add the APG info into the Beta version of the sheet. Curses to those Paizo staff who spent all that time giving us so many options... now I have a lot of work to do to add it all into the sheet. I did develop the sheet in a modular design, so getting the content to work with the existing content will be easy. Adding it all in though... that's going to the be the cumbersome part.

Status: Currently I am trying to get all the Core Rulebook info into the sheet before GenCon. I have almost completed this. I am putting the finishing touches on familiars now. The weight tally will be the next priority, however I am unsure I will have the time to squeeze it in before GenCon.

Thanks for your input on the sheet.

Oh you are very welcome as far as the input! Feedback leads to improvement. The other sticking point that I forgot about you sort of answered already. When I was creating a Druid's animal companion a tab came up for it but none came up for the sorcerer when I tried to create a familiar for it. anway you already answered that.

I.Malachi wrote:

It is there. In order to access it you need to specify your channeling type (positive or negative) and you need to have a Charisma of 13 or higher. I just tested it and it appears to be working correctly. Please let me know if you have met both of these pre-requisites and it is still not displaying.

Thanks.

The latest release is now available at www.d20.ca

Alpha version 0.74

Revision:

- Many numerous little fixes.
- Speed displays should be showing correctly now (especially for dwarves)
- Added Familiars page which will display upon selecting a class feature that gives you a familiar.
- Calistra's domains fixed (change artifice to charm)

Where do you equip Robes of the Archmagi to gain it's numerous bonuses?

Dirty Rat wrote:

Technically, it would be on the Items page, Worn Magic Items, (Body) item.

I do not have the bonuses added in for it though. I will add in the Robe for the next update.

Thanks for pointing that out. I wasn't even aware that there were 3 different types.

Nice progress. I've been lucky with the APG (subscription) - so I don't envy you the task. It's literally 330 pages of player options. :D I suggest adding the "easy" and "quick" bits first. Like hero points. Not that I think there are many things I'd guess are easy. :P

From Core's side of course, I'd appreciate the addition of all the combat maneuvers in the Arms tab. I remember seeing and trying the grapple in the options, but the results were off - I didn't check a recent version though.

I'm with Kevida - nothing special required. The summary tab simply doesn't contain meaningful data. Doesn't seem to be linked to a specific build.

Now that I am back from GenCon, I plan to start tackling the APG this week.

I'm going to start with races first. That should help me plan for the framework of how I'm going to incorporate the multitude of options.
