Ok...apparently my Aunt needs the certificates for HER files. She says she will wait a week...till next pay day and she wills till go ahead and file for me. :)
that's what I was thinking when I first read your post. I couldn't think of a reason to need birth certificates to file unless you were applying for an ITIN. which only applies if you do not have a social security number.

Apparently the place that laid me off doesn't feel like they need to send my W-2 in a timely manner. I called and they said that they sent them last week, but it is sure taking a long time to get here.
That sucks. If they arent going to keep you on they could at least make your life after them easier.

snail mail sucks. On that subject they only have to mail them out by the 31 of January, but you must wait a couple of weeks to get them in the mail before you can take any action outside of calling them up.

If you don't mind me asking .... why does SHE need it? Why not throw yours and hubby into the mix too?
Man, I should stop. It just seems like a weird thing to ask for to keep in one's own files when it's really not needed for filing taxes. Sorry if I'm overly looking out. :D

Technically, they had until the end of January to do it (which has come and gone yesterday). But I understand your pain. I end up usually filing in April because I'm always waiting for a form for estate earnings and the accountant tends to take his good old time completing that section.

in my experience for her files in case she gets audited. She could be fined if she didn't do her due diligence research. I think I am heading into the right field.

I was so at a loss as to why should she need them. And she has this habit of just saying she needs them rather than saying why she needs them. :)

Yeah, I know. I just had hoped that it would come sooner. The money would really come in handy.

Thats exactly why she needs them. Apparently she was audited last year. But she says she can wait a week.

Yikes. I was investigated last year and they found that I had neglected to pay taxes for a job I worked one day and never recieved a W-2 for. As it is we are still fighting to get the paycheck for that one day. They withheld our return as a result and we still haven't gotten it, even though we are now square with the IRS. Maybe we will have it added to our refund check this year.

Uh yeah. I have to try and get some sort of insurance assistance from teh state. Kirks job offers insurance, but since his company is so small it is crazy expensive. :(

That's the great thing about this country we can disagree. It is when people think we should all agree with them and if not then we are all idiots ect... that's what upset me.

Wish I had better but my Google-fu takes time and I do not have a lot of it today.

I know the pain. if I as on state funded insurance about two years ago, if I needed anything as far as a doctor went I would have to drive two hours just to get it.
apart from this topic how has your day been going since the headache?
