Alkenstar Regional Sourcebook?

Product Discussion

Out of all the regions in Golariion, Alkenstar intrigues me the most. So when the heck is the Companion series going to go into more detail in this area?

Likely never or last, if you take anything you read on here literally as gospel truth. Alkenstar will likely need to have support from the 3PP or the loyal homebrewers.

A travesty, IMHO.

Don't hold your breath. If memory serves, Alkenstar was the brainchild of Mike McArtor who now is no longer with Paizo, and several other designers, notably James Jacobs, have expressed a disinterest in exploring the firearms stuff any further. So I don't think it's coming soon or in the foreseeable future, or at all.

Personally, I share James' opinion on this, and also there are a lot more interesting places to explore or develop, some of which aren't even on the map so far.

Perhaps, someday, Paizo would allow a special license for any 3PP to develop Alkenstar ? I'm not too keen on the area, but it has some fans.

And what Zaister said, Alkenstar was Mike's idea and with him leaving the company, it pretty much was left out in the blue.

Not in mine. I am not a firearms/tech fan in a fantasy setting

Never liked Expedition to the Barrier Peaks for example

Different strokes for different folks. But that's okay, because it'll make your setting that much easier to conquer when we sweep down to purge dissenters and make slaves of your people we let live. :D

I accepted quite some time ago that Alkenstar wasn't going to get much official support, and since then it's been floating around in my mind to organize a fan-based effort to generate some material for it. And now I have some Google Wave invites with which to support that effort.

Anyone else think this idea is worth pursuing?

Fo schizzle. Though I don't think there's anything I can add.

If you do run this route, let me know ... already have Google Wave, so no invite needed. Have a couple extra invites as well, if needed.

Well lets do this: If you're interested in working on this project email me: mylastname.thomas@gmail.com - substitute mylastname for baumbach ('cause, ya know, my last name is Baumbach).

But by all means, if you'd just like to see this happen but don't want to contribute, post away to offer your support.

There is also THIS thread that was created awhile ago. I believe there is already a group put together. It apparently went quiet enough to become archived though.
