I don't know about molestation, but in nematodes at least, homosexual attraction is based at least partially on biological, genetic factors.
In this study, nematodes were subjected to microsurgery with lasers. By zapping and shifting a number of nerve cells, scientists were able to alter the sexual preference and behavior of nematodes.
The study was done at the University of Utah, led by Erik Jorgensen. I'm actually really good friends with his son, which is how I got word of it. I'm surprised it didn't cause that much of a stir when it was published. Probably because the study was done at a University as opposed to in a corporate setting.
Cool. Gay nematodes.

But, one more thing should be noted; not all molesters that molest people of the same sex are homosexual. This study showed that many of the men who molested boys had adult relationships with women.

*raises hand* The first sexual attraction I recall feeling was when I was seven. I was watching this at the time. The idea that people experience these feelings towards women is still rather difficult to grasp. I spent early life assuming that everyone was just playing around and then later that they were bowing to an empty social convention, like going to dances or wearing ties. I've never been cognizant of any sexual attraction to women, excepting a couple of boundary cases that I mistook for men. Once I learned that they were in fact ladies, I lost sexual interest pretty quickly.
Also I was never molested by anybody.
But so far as I can tell the conversion theory works out to something like this:
1) Gay sex is mind-altering (literally!) awesome. It's so incredibly great that just having it once will ruin you for the other sex forever. It's like cocaine shoots out of gay genitals or something.
2) Since you no longer want to have straight sex, you turn gay.
Want some very dark laughs? This is more or less what the "Reparative" Therapy cranks believe about heterosexuality.
Of course it all assumes that one could never be naturally gay to begin with (Apparently Homosexual Zero came to be because of a very awkward and serendipitous wrestling match or something.) and thus it requires some kind of exotic explanation. Like being left-handed or enjoying Pathfinder requires an exotic explanation.

It has been along time since I heard the stories, so they might have just been that. Or maybe it was more about women than men. A young girl is molested by a man, this causes her to be distrustful of men to the point that she no longer finds them attractive but still has sexual needs and thus ends up prefering women. Like I said, I heard this along time ago and do not claim it has any scientific fact. I was just saying I've heard of that, but not of anyone claiming gays are ejecting gaycaine from their genitals.

I really don't see how one goes from A to B there, just based on that. I mean I find the attraction of American football far more difficult to comprehend, and I don't proceed from there to the notion that something must be wrong with you if you like it. Heterosexuality to me is about in the same category, along with preferring foods that I do not or liking different music.
It's not hard, of course, to see how given the pre-existing bias one could get there.

I'm not saying I disagree, but just because a man has a adult relationship with a woman doesn't necessarily mean that he is heterosexual.
I understand that statistics show men and those who are sexually abused to be more likely to become molesters.that's actually an urban myth / result of bad science / poor reaserch methodology
it's actually more like "Molestors are more likley to use historic child abuse as an excuse for their behaviour, therefore disclosing abuse that would otherwise go unreported"
