First off the only responses that I want are from those who have played the game. At the minimum read the rules. That being said
Do not post:
-Anything about previous editions of the game. Not unless it pertains to the topic at hand. I do not want any edition wars. You want to start a topic debating how better the previous editions are start your own thread.
-"Its too different" or it"s a board game". This version was designed from the start to be different. Telling me it's different is wasting my time and yours.I do not consider it a valid critism either. From what I saw on the videos and heard from others it's not a boardgame and it will not be considered relavent to the topic of this thread.
-Failure to follow the above will get the thread closed.
-Keep it civil.

I have played the New Edition, My thoughts on it are the following
Yes The new system is a little difficult to understand at first so if you have knowledge of the older editions forget what you know and approach this as a ENTIRELY different game.
First the system is apparently designed to speed up combat through the special dice used (i actually like the system since it reminds me of how fast descent's combat can be)
but the role playing element also got a few little quirky mechanics that make it actually unique, things like the stance bar that affects your combat and non combat actions depending on what your stance is (ie are you passive or reckless?) there are benefits for each stance and how far you go in to that stance depending on your career and choice of abilities you want i do how ever want to point out that it does have a rather weird way of letting you have abilities.
see on your career card you have little slots on the side that you attach a different ability to yes you can have more in your stock than what you can attach but you can only use what you have actively attached to your career (yes you can change them out when ever you need but in combat it pretty much will use up your turn)
As for the having the cards and what not that give off the feeling of a board game are actually designed to speed up game play and keep players and the gm out of the books and in to the game. (which i actually love since page flipping can waste valuable game time)
another mechanic i found rather interesting is the party card. yes there is a separate career card sized card for your party, it tracks how well the group as a whole works together to actually achieve their goals as well as tracking their "stress" the party card can also be used to attach career ability cards to it that will be usable by the WHOLE group not just one member (say you for your road warden have a nifty melee tactic you want the whole group to use you attach the ability to the party card then any party member may use the ability in combat or non combat and it will recharge faster)(yes abilities from the slotted cards have a "cool down" of sorts with a cool turn time taking place over your turns)
over all i have actually enjoyed the system for its major effectiveness in speeding up combat (i have seen our combats literally take at most 10 minutes (once we all got comfortable with the rules and understood all the symbols on the dice and what they meant) and no Combat is NOT on a grid unless you want to do so and then your on your own, its meant to be done in head like older rpg's thats just my observations so far on it

I have played it, have done 10 or 12 classes; I really like the expansions; was fun playing from the Brittonian book; like how they have cleaned up a lot of the rules as well and it is much easier to understand; for me at least; especially the magic section. In the old edition I just skipped it, but this one reads well and makes sense and is presented much more clearly.
The new game still keeps all the bloody smackdown of the original; fights are still terrifying for players; and when you look at the chaos book for the rpg; ack; there is no one who can match some of those guys like that chaos knight; whew; just for sheer wounds and number of attacks; wow.
