Feres tries to dodge the blast of flame as best as his stout bulk will allow him.

Patting out the small patches of flame that remain on his clothing, Feres moves to the side so that he and Gorgrom cannot be caught within the same blast again. Scowling at the reptilian creature, the singed priest begins to sing:

"Well I fell into
A burning ring of fire.
I went down, down, down
And the flames went higher.
And it burns, burns, burns,
The ring of fire,
The ring of fire."

Move action to move to the side. Standard action to start Barding Performance (Inspire Courage): Feres and Gorgrom are granted +1 competence bonus to hit and damage, and +1 morale bonus to saves vs. fear and charm effects.

"Name's Taihaku. If your looking for a village, that area down there" He spat the word, nodding his head in the direction Loren was travelling, "Is probably your best bet. I've heard tell of farmlands where stuff actually grows well, and lots of people, so you might be able to manage there."

As the elf looked around, he caught glimpse of a small pair of eyes hiding from inside the shadows, quickly darting to hide behind a boulder when they caught his gaze. "So I guess you better get moving stranger, if you know what's good for you. These parts are no place for strangers, that's for damn sure."

OOC: Sorry it took so long Loren.

OOC: I'm REALLY sorry guys, crap cropped up again, and my grandma's got surgery this coming monday. I hope you all can forgive my shotty availability, I fully intend to get a reply in to everybody tonight and to reply as often as I'm able.

Morning came after a long wait, and when Alika went to check on her elven burn patient, she found both room and cot empty of any sign of his presence. At once, some measure of panic set in, and upon searching the entire house, she also found her daughter missing. With even greater panic, she was about to set out looking for the missing pair, when she heard a gleeful sort of clapping from outside.

Peering out the window, which in hindsight was something she should have done earlier, she found her daughter sitting on the tree stump, still clapping and with a smile on her face.

Opening the door, she found the source of her daughter's mirth, her patient Baldoin, without any bandages, or shirt for that matter, and his full concentration on performing a complicated kata. One which Alika remembered seeing performed by traveling monks in her youth.

"Anything wrong?" Baldoin asked in midleap.

"Oh," Only then did Alika noticed how harried she looked, after searching the house from top to bottom. "Nothing. What are you doing out of bed?"

"I haven't moved much for an entire day." Baldoin replied, while his hands blurred in multiple directions. "Bad for the muscles."

"Oh." Alika saw her daughter waving brightly at her, to which she waved back meekly. "I'll just..go back in then."

Baldoin replied with a grunt, and Alika went in. Looking at her overturned furniture, she decided to clean up.

Haha, took a while? Ahaha. Much business. Oh, and kyrt, I'm adapting a toned down version of your monk for a few games back home, if you don't mind.

Gorgrom (+the Friar) Vs Red Hunter Dracobold, Round 2: FIGHT!

IC:
Snarling as it took note of the orc that had beaten it earlier, the dracobold took off at an angle, aiming for singing friar as an arrow tore into it's bicep, the pain lost in it's fury as it rushed past the reach of the man, both claws swinging all out, his position locked to place the Friar between himself and the accursed archer (try to full attack and you've got to deal with cover and risk hitting him), claws already tearing for his victim's throat. (using combat focus for +2 attack)

(handling Friar Tuck's AoO for the moment, since he's prone to be a while in responding and he told me to go ahead and do it anyway. I spent your swift action on combat focus and your move action on total defence, +2 attack, +4 AC)
As the beast lunged past, the large, usually jovial man spun his stave into position, swinging with all his might.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 271d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

The staff slammed hard into the stomach of the Dracobald, but only held him back an instant before he was on the friar, both claws slashing violently at the man.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 241d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 191d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

The first swing went wild, it's course thrown off by the blow but the second struck true, drilling into his shoulder and raking down his chain shirt, leaving ripples in the armor.

OOC:

Dracobald: taken 18 damage

Friar: 19 HP remaining

Also, Gorgrom is up first, but if you get on before he posts Feres your free to take your turn so long as you don't move lol (since moving would throw off his tactical choice, but the order of the attacks don't really matter)

"Whoever brought you back from the dead, should have learned the first time!" Gorgrom yells seeing the Dracobald move to attack Feres and use him for cover.

Gorgrom immediately moves out diagonally from his position to get a clear shot, staying 15ft from the Dracobald.

Bow Attack 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24 Damage 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (3, 1) + 7 = 11

OOC: At 31HP Still. Also using a swift action to combat focus

And since the first pass didn't find him, Aydan continued to scan the darkness, seeking out his attacker.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Suddenly, out of the shadows another arrow flew directly for the young man in the light, it's source and angle changed somewhat from the prior attack, but you can tell it's close, maybe 30 feet or such. (Also you get a free perception check to notice him)

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 212d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3) + 3 = 8

OOC: Wow, luck is not on your side for finding this attacker lol. 8 more nonlethal damage to you.

Shifting to an offensive stance, Feres focuses on his attack as he deftly spins his staff to strike at the draconic kobold again and again, singing his song all the while.

OOC: Continue Bardic Performance (Inspire Courage) as free action to grant +1 to hit and damage to self and Gorgrom. Spend move action on Total Focus to grant +4 to attack rolls this round. Spend swift action to make secondary attack with quarterstaff.

IC: The arrow flew true into the Dracobold's side, piercing into it's ribs through the crimson scales, as the monk swung his staff into motion, a harried claw parrying the first blow only to be struck by the second upside the head.

"I will not be defeated" it growled, furious determination burning in it's eyes as it sidestepped (5 foot step) to bring them both into line, it's mouth opening as a cone of flame burst from it's lips, both claws coming up defensively.

OOC: Total of 38 damage (incase you hadn't figured it out it gained a level after your fight with it Gorgrom lol) launching another 2d6 cone, roll reflex saves for 1/2 of... 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11 fire damage

Also, in total defense and using combat focus (for a +1 to the save DC, yeah, regretably I neglected to include the DC part in the stuff online but it's not like any of our casters have missed an opportunity for it yet anyway lol.)

Seeing the orange burst of flame and cinder billow out of the monster's mouth Gorgrom tries to sidestep the flames Relfex 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 dropping his bow in the process.

Gorgrom then makes a dash for the Dracobald while at the same time drawing his falchion. "You remember this blade, don't you? It is a pity it will end your life two times now." Gorgrom taunts with a faint grin emerging from his scowl.

Charging Falchion Attack w/ Combat Focus 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28 Damage 2d4 + 8 ⇒ (4, 1) + 8 = 13

OOC: That's gotta hurt! Kyrt, can you make sure I have my numbers right? That is a lot of bonuses.

OOC: 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 1 = 13

2 charge, 2 combat focus, 2 BAB, 2 Favored Enemy, 3 strength, 1 masterworked, 1 bardsong.

Kind of irrelevant my friend, you hit him without it, so even if he were in the way you can rp the butt-rush attack lol.

Edit: dude... this filter cuts out the other spelling of the word 'but' used for a body part lmao, that has to be officially THE least offensive word I have EVER seen filtered online lol.

kyrt-ryder wrote:

OOC: HAHA, that is lame!

Seeing the orc rush in, taunting and gloating the red tracker grinned, his teeth showing in his battle-lust as he raised a claw up, initiating his wall of blades technique, using one claw in an attempt to deflect the falchion.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

OOC: Figured it was time to introduce some book of 9 swords to the game, get things more interesting. This one allows me to roll an opposed attack vs yours, if mine is higher you miss. Works once a fight.

OOC: What happens when they are equal?

Gorgrom the Relentless wrote:

OOC: What happens when they are equal?

defense always wins, which would be particularly important in this case since the person in question just burned a once per fight trick. And....HOLY SHIT IT'S a natural 20!!! Sorry guys, but I've got to do this (if it means anything whenever you guys roll natural 20's on opposed rolls or whatnot I'd come up with something epic for you as well)

IC: As the Dracobold stepped into it's stance, time seemed to stop, the charging Orc's falchion raised powerfully before he raised his left claw, the edge of the blade scraping along the surface as a the red warrior shifted his weight.

In a heartbeat it was over, and Gorgrom found his sword rushing directly at the singing clergyman.

OOC:(This kind of thing usually uses the original attack roll, but I'll be kind since this isn't actually built into the rules and was a spontaneous ruling and roll it myself with the Kobold's bonuses.) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

If it hits it deals 8 damage

Yes, yes you did. Feel free to discuss this battle (and my typically hot dice lol) in the discussion thread :)

OOC: Current HP 26

OOC: Sorry this took so long Aydan, I'm kind of stuck taking care of both my grandparents right now, so things can be slow at times. Here it is.

IC: As he latched his vision in the direction from which arrow had come, Aydan found himself staring at a peculiar red humanoid/dragon-like creature garbed in jet-black armor move from it's position, presently observed, though it had yet to realize such, draw it's bow once more, fire another of it's rounded arrows at it's mark.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Male Human Barbarian 1

Aydan whispered the short cantrip, releasing daze upon his foe then, turned to look for a place with more people. If he see's anywhere appropriate he runs towards it, if not he backs up to the shadows at the edge of lanterns light, ready to run directly away.

Are there any alleys that go anywhere? Or does this city's alleys end in dead ends, Aydan was looking around, so he probably noticed earlier.

"Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire!" Feres exclaims as flames wash over him for a second time.

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

OOC: By the way, did I just get hit by Gorgrom's falchion for 8 damage?

If Feres is still standing after the flame breath and the falchion, he will take a 5-ft step back and Channel Energy (standard action) to heal Gorgrom and himself - using Selective Channeling to exclude the dracobold.

Channel Energy: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Use swift action for Combat Defense to increase AC by 2 to AC 18.

Continue Bardic Performance (Inspire Courage) as free action: Gorgrom and Feres +1 to Hit and Damage.

OOC: Assuming I saved for half fire damage (6 hp) and that I took 8 damage from Gorgrom's falchion, plus healed 3 hp from channeling, that should place Feres at 8 hp.

OOC: Sorry this took so long, between family matters, helping friends with stuff online, and getting distracted WAYYYY too easily by all the discussions on this site (when I finally get that other project done at least I won't get distracted by Paizo's forum as easily lol) I've at last completed these.

Friar Tuck and Gorgrom VS Dracobald

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Edit: Wow, these dice really are hot for me... Maybe I should change my cologne lol... 16 damage. Sorry amigo, your unconscious and out of the fight. As a note, your bardsong will keep playing in your allies heads for cha modifier rounds after you were knocked out. No channel effect went off.

As the blade was redirected by the claws it struck home, raking viciously across the friar's chain shirt only to break through the weaker links towards the bottom, opening a massive gash that spurted blood from the femoral artery of his left leg, dropping the big man with an audible thud, bleeding out onto the packed dirt road.

"Your next..." rasped the dracobald, opening it's lips in delight, it's tongue rasping out as it leapt forwards, swinging both of it's claws for the half-orc, eager to bring the battle to a close, focused only on killing his target.

OOC: keeping the same tactical setup as before, +2 attack, +4 AC.
EDIT: Since I accidentally mis-wrote the dice notation the first time for his claws and it refuses to let me fix them I'm just clearing them out and posting them in my next post, sorry for the mess guys.

OOC: here are the dice rolls for his claws vs Gorgrom, sorry for the mess. (Maybe you'll catch a little luck lol)

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

And just like that, the beast lunged forwards, the left claw glancing off the armor while the other raked through it, leaving gashes across the orc's chest. This battle was heating up, and fast. If the hunter didn't do something soon, it would be all over, for him, and his friend still bleeding on the ground.

Seeing his blade veer off toward Feres, Gorgrom could only watch as the falchion dug deep into the priest's leg. "Feres!" Gorgrom rumbled as he clapsed to the ground gushing blood. Just then the Dracobald's claw cleaved through and struck Gorgrom in the chest, making him let out a gasp for air. Gorgrom then draws back and looks the creature in the face. "Your tricks will not save you, dragon scum!" Taking a defensive stance and focusing his blade on the Dracobald's stomach once more, Gorgrom swung with all his might praying to his ancestors again for justice.

Attack 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Crit Confirm 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Damage 2d4 + 11 ⇒ (4, 1) + 11 = 16

OOC: Current HP 15, Move action for +4 AC puts me at AC 22, Swift action for +2 Attack. Not sure about the damage bonus total, above did you take the total of bonuses and then multiply by 1.5? Man I wish that crit hit.

OOC: Yeah, instead of 1.5* str, it's 1.5* all bonus damage, strength, weapon bonus, etc etc

IC:As the halfbreed stepped into position the dracobold drew backwards, tossing his head back and opening his jaws to gather the flames, only for Gorgrom's Falchion to find it's neck, cleaving the head clear off the creature as a burst of seering hot blood erupted from within, spraying straight for the half-orc.

OOC: You managed to take him out (it's a little complicated how this works, basically a big chunk his time after knockout was partly burned up in his prior near-death experience), make a reflex save for 1/2 of... 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8 I'm going to rule that since the cleric's on the ground and in the opposite direction the spray that did go towards him would be pretty thinned out by the time it reached him.

Also, I'm going to roll a knowledge nature check for you, the DC is higher, but it's a close enough match that you can use nature for this (though since dragons seem to be your arch nemesis I would suggest getting a comfortable level of knowledge nature and geography and devote those skill points to knowledge Arcana) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

WOOOOO good grief my dice are hot on this board most of the time lmao. Not a bad thing for you though this time (that and I'd like to think it helps make things a bit more exciting.)

Gorgrom, you know that these creatures have fangs that, when soaked in a flame-producing bladder found in their abdominal cavity, become very special arrowheads, functioning as flaming against anything except creatures with the dragon type and fire subtype. Against those creatures these arrow-heads function as bane arrows.

The jaws contain...(results of this roll)3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5) = 11... usable fangs.

Also, you understand that the hide can be fashioned into a medium 'dragonhide chain shirt' that grants the wearer non-magical fire resistance 10.

Furthermore.... congratulations you two, you've achieved your third level, pick your feat, alot your skills, mend your wounds (don't neglect a treat wounds check, it only works once for any combat but could be of use,) roleplay, and see what the two of you want to do from here.

Remember you don't have to continue to advance to Tre'age, it is a long journey, but your more than welcome to rise to the challenge. Or die trying mwahahahaha, sorry couldn't help it lol.

Edit: Yeah... a few ranks in craft arms and armor (yeah, super simplified I know, normally that would be flecthing and bowsmithing or something) would probably be advisable lol, though the choice is yours. (one rank picks up the class skill bonus, so just 1 at least might be wise.)

As the blade cleaves through the Dracobalds neck, the searing hot blood came down on Gorgrom's arms (Reflex 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22) burning his skin as he pulled back. Seeing the bastard's head separated from it's body put a slight grin on Gorgrom's face till he remembered Feres was dying on the ground opposite of them. Rushing to his side Gorgrom grabs some cloth to cover the wound (Heal Treat Deadly Wounds 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22) and manages to close it up. "I am sorry about that Feres. That creature was a tricky one." Gorgrom mutters as he places his backpack under the friar's head. "I am going to move us off the road and make camp. I have some work to do with its remains while you heal." Gorgrom tells Feres as he looks over, eyeballing the corpse.

OOC:Current HP 11. Would I use his new 3 hit dice when calculating HP healed by my check? If so it healed 6 points. Oh yeah and WOOHOO level!

After Gorgrom finishes patching Feres up to the best of his ability, he stands up and looks toward the side of the road for a relatively clear spot to camp, (Survival 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26+2 if Temperate Forest then moves Feres and starts to build a fire. After finishing setting up camp Gorgrom walks over to the dead body still lying in the road bleeding. Gorgrom grabs the body and drags it over to a tree near the camp and strings it up upside down allowing the rest of the blood to escape. He then pulls out his kukri and begins to skin the body very carefully to not damage the scales and also removing the flame-producing bladder. After Gorgrom finishes skinning the body, he grabs the separated head and proceeds to knock out all of the usable teeth, preparing to make his arrows. He then sits down next to his injured friend and begins to craft his new items.

Craft (Arms & Armor) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 to produce Dragonhide Chain Shirt and special arrows. Heal check for long term care for Feres if I can do it at the same time 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

OOC: Now the dice love me! Do I need 2 separate craft checks for each?

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 heh, and now the tide is turning...

As the sorcerer channelled his spell, his stalker stood there, unaware and innactive, almost as though he were daydreaming.

Fleeing as he did, Aydan found himself staring down the long street, many buildings with signs on them, some of them with lights and music emanating from them, but the nearest of these was a good 200 feet away.

Glancning behind him, Aydan turns back to face his assailant.

Almost reluctantly he raises his arms, making distinct geometric shapes, golden ruins spring momentarily to live as he chants an incantation, then dissappear with the release of the arcane energy, a lull floods the air around the attacker, silently, soothingly.

"Your even faster than I rememberred from yesterday!" she laughed, beaming. "Do you.. think maybe I could learn to move like that?" She inquired, jumping off the branch, only to have the air seem to... bend around beneath her, the sign of hot air though it were a cool morning, landing with a soft thud, bending her knees to cushion the impact. "Can I???"

Suddenly, the creature found itself back in present time, it's victim's arms waving as a lulling tone fills the air around him.

In a heartbeat, the arrow was loosed, soaring towards the target, a flaming missile that lit up the sky, streaking down the dark street.

If I had a greataxe, I'd coup de grace, but maybe this is better, he's sure to strike again, next time I may have a bodyguard or two, I can incapacitate him, and try interrogation first. Actually there's some things I want to ask in the Discussion thread.

Aydan sees the man fall into the alley, then turns and flees, running towards the light. He finds his way as quickly as he can to the Rusty Anvil.

Leaving his pursuer in his wake, Aydan made his way down the road, scanning the signs till he found the Rusty Anvil, opening the door to find himself in a hall filled with music, beautiful waitresses serving food that smelled incredible, a good lot of rough and... slightly... polished individuals scattered about, enjoying their evening.

Feres awakens to a clear night sky, dreamily imagining wandering down the starry road of the Milky Way with Fharley.

With a start, Feres remembers the battle with the dracobold - being drenched in a gout of flame, and then being slashed by Gorgrom's redirected falchion. He raises his head slightly to find himself lying near a merrily burning campfire, and sees his companion working on several arrows nearby. He notices that the half-orc appears to be in little better condition than himself following their battle with the draconic humanoid.

"Well, my friend," Feres greets his companion in a weak voice, "it's good to see you among the living! If that was the same type of creature that you survived encountering on your trip to Trask, then I am doubly impressed by your battle prowess! I trust the beast is dead?"

Upon hearing Gorgrom's reply to the affirmative, Feres grins with relief. "Ah, that is good, then. Here, let me see if I can get us back into fighting shape before we are attacked by any more of those foul beasts." With those words, the stout priest lays back and, closing his eyes, begins to hum in a soft voice. A holy radiance engulfs the human and half-orc, healing their wounds and leaving them feeling refreshed.

Feres burns all six Channel Energy uses for the day to heal Gorgrom and himself:
Total Channel Energy x6: 6d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 2, 2, 4) + 6 = 27

Feres sits up, whole and hale, and asks, "So, what's our plan now?"

As Gorgrom realizes Feres has awakened, he looks up and speaks with a sly grin. "Welcome back to the realm of the conscious friend. The creature was undoubtedly more powerful than the first time, but I can honestly say, he is never coming back. Would you care for a dragon scale hat?" Gorgrom asks with a chuckle. "In all seriousness, I will be able to inlay your chain shirt with scales to provide you some protection from fire."

Feeling the rush of energy engulf him, Gorgrom closes his eyes, feeling refreshed, then opens them back up and looks at Feres again. "Thank you. I have no plan. Do you still care to travel to Tre'age?"

"You can imbue my chain shirt with the ability to protect from fire?" Feres asks with wide-eyed wonder. "That is quite an impressive feat, and will surely come in handy if we encounter any more of those creatures! Thank you!"

"I can think of no better place to go than Tre'age," the priest continues. "When would you like to head back out on our journey?"
