New Class: Disciple (Spontaneous Divine Caster)

Homebrew and House Rules

Scarab Sages

A Divine Spellcaster based on the idea of learning to perform divine magic though studying, imitating, and Invoking aspects of the Emissaries, Heralds, and Avatars of the deities, as well as dead or lost gods, as individuals.

It emerged from the thought that a Monk was a Half Ki user powered to let it get full BAB through flurry. I wrote it a while ago, and figured I'd post it up for the thoughts of others.

Please take a look at The Disciple.

Any feedback before I post it to the Pathfinder Database would be appreciated.

i tried to read it, it had an interesting concept, but it was hard tp read. i recommend cleaning it up a little and simplifiying. the load of domains got crazy. i would ask what base were you using? it looked like you took class features from monk and cleric and mishmash them.

when i think spontaneous divine, i think either favored soul or Shugenja. maybe you can get your effect from adapting the Shugenja. some real class features for it would be nice. it is the only PC class with 20 out of 20 dead levels. since element sense is too useless to matter. the only time sense elements was worth it is if you specialized in water or air.

both are in complete divine. these will probably help

Hrm, it appears google docs scrapped my open office formatting.

Seeing if I can fix that.

as I stated in the Opening Post, I had the thought of the Monk as a half caster, the martalized version of something else. Incidentally I was reading Zelazny's Lord of Light at the time.

Hmm, I should check this out then. :) I'm working from the same concept over here.

the shugenja has virtually no class features so it may as well be open content once you add a few. a d6 hit dice 1/2 bab spontaneous divine caster with no real class features should be quite easy to adapt. the class had minor things with elements. sensing them (see specialization) in all forms (at will supernatural ability) (creatures were consiered all 4 and detectable) and specializing in 1 at the cost of it's opposite (+1 caster level, +1 Dc) and taking taboos (players had to make up taboos at dm discretion) for example a weather themed air shugenja could make up a taboo that says they must stay at least 10 feet away from any sunflowers at all times or consequently not be able to cast spells for an hour after stepping out of the sunflower's range. the spell prevention time had to be proportionate to the taboo. (also dm discretion) you could alter it as you like.

all the favored soul gets for non spell related class features are energy resistance, damage reduction, wings, and the weapon focus/specialization route. (all it gets other than that are cleric spells) give it a few custom class features you are good to go.
