Purchasing Bracers of Armor +1

Pathfinder Society

In the "Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play" (v2.01) it states that a player can always buy magical +1 armor or weapons.

Does this include Bracers of Armor +1? If so, what is the cost? There is no listing for bracers in the Armor section (because they don't give any bonus to AC normally) so there must be no cost for master work?
So I'm guessing that it's only 1000gp since that's the list cost and it's assumed that all magic items are Master Work?

Scarab Sages 2/5

I doubt they're always available because bracers of armor are wondrous items, not armor.

i think you have your wires crossed here, Bracers of Armour are Wondrous Items, and require drastically different feats and spell selections to +1 magical armour and weapons.

as a DM, my short answer would be "No, Bracers of Armour are different from the stated +1 magical Armour and weapons, and therefore are not sold as base armour or weapons. Sorry"

You will need to accumulate 9 prestige award points before you can purchase bracers of armor +1.

Yes, the cost will then be 1000 gp.

You will need to have 18 prestige award points to be able to purchase bracers of armor +2.

Depending on the adventures your character takes, you may be able to purchase your bracers earlier, if they figure as part of the available treasure.

Costing 9 Prestige seems steep for such a simple armor protection, but you guys may be correct.

As far as it requiring far different skills, it only requires the wonderous skill feat and mage armor be cast (a first level spell). As far as items creation it's week.

The reason I was expecting it to be as easy as purchasing armor is that characters that cannot wear armor should be able to gain the same simple benefits of purchasing without spending prestige. It's quite unballanced otherwise.

It doesn't cost 9 prestige awards. You just have to have accumulated them at one point, to have passed that number, it does not have to be your current total (if you have spent some for other things).

Your total number of prestige points received (not your current total) is your gp spending limit on single items.

Most classes that cannot wear armor have class abilities that raise their AC, such as a monk's wisdom bonus or arcane casters' use of mage armor. A successful PC could have 9 prestige after 5 scenarios, which would mean you could purchase bracers of armor before reaching 3rd level. Given wealth distribution, most PCs that aren't playing in tiers higher than their level aren't going to be able to afford magic armor before this point anyway, unless it's by one scenario.

5/5

Is that technically true right now? 31/32 are high tier. Are there two tier 1-X scenarios from season 0 that offer 2 PA? (just curious)

Yes, this season's pathfinder society adventures offer each faction the possibility of getting 2 prestige award points per adventure.

There are several scenarios that offer 2 prestige, most of them covering subtier 1-2.

Yes, there are Season Zero scenarios which can award two Prestige, as early as the second or third month of that season. I don't know how common they are, though. I have played four scenarios from Season 0, and only one offered a chance at a second PA.

Which specific scenario offers two prestige award:
It was #6, Black Waters.
