PFS Game Master Training Sessions

Here's another wild thought from a demented mind. :)

What if we could get Josh and other PaizoCrew to travel (1-2 times a month) to areas and run the newest PFS Scenarios for GMs of the area? This would be like a slot 0 event, but I see the event as much more. Structure it like a class. How best to present a given scenario. How to GM better overall from the masters (perhaps even local "all-star" GMs). Tips on how to promote PFS in their area. Paizo would benefit and learn by hearing about regional PFS concerns. They could be held at popular FLGS's. Paizo could pick areas based on population and/or PFS participation. They could limit attendence to GMs who've reported (or reported more than a certain number of sessions). Obviously Paizo could charge for attendence, but I doubt they could charge enough to pay for the travel expenses.

I would love to have a "tour schedule" for Josh and Co. coming to a town near you!

Ewww! I saw that! Stop picking your nose!

So am I to believe this topic has come up recently? :)

I am willing to put up a few of the Paizo guys if they come down to the Ft. Lauderdale / Miami area. Maybe two of you, but you will hae to share a bed.

Sorry, I don't have proper editing software. This footage would definitely get banned from youtube! I never knew that Josh brainstormed in the nude!

I doubt they'll ever travel to another continent. :P

But for those who have the opportunity it does sound good. Maybe, just maybe, the to-be-GMs could point out errors before it gets out. ;)

Sure, sign me up. You can bunk on my sofa during your stay in Finland.

Josh has his own channel over there. You knew that already, right?

I hadn't thought this before but it would be pretty sweet that once a month, Paizo takes the two new scenarios to a new city to try them out before they go to final layout... Let your PFS GMs playtest it for you! (Then we won't have Clerics w/ Zombies that they can't even control...)

It might also be that they have a network of regional coordinators to handle Slot 0s instead of asking people to organize and run them themselves.

Okay, I knew Joshua was into the arts and photography, but that's going a bit far.

Uh, what's the link? ^_^

I can hear the staff fainting from all that travel in addition to their regular work ^_^

Oh I fully understand how much extra work something like this would be. That doesn't mean it's not a great way to grow PFS or something less than awesome.

Oh, no. Trust me; I'm in total agreement with you. But I do some traveling as part of my job and man! Does it disrupt office life :-(

I get a very distinct feeling I'd never leave Finland alive.

We're working on that right now, in fact.

There are zombies there, too?

This is actually the sort of thing that I hope could come out of getting GMs together after PaizoCon UK this year. A group of 'Venture Captains' who run games at conventions, run slot zero games for each other, share advice and experience as well as running home games.

Same here. About 20% of the time.

If it wasn't always Josh, and it rotated around the talent at Paizo, that would mean, outside of major conventions, about 1 trip per person per year.

Good point. How about just send Lisa? She can always scream via cellphone if there's a major disaster at the office? Or deadlines are getting pushed back :-)

That's great to hear! What I'm proposing is something a little more intimate (nothing to do with Josh working in the buff...). Beyond a slot 0 opportunity (or a pre-slot 0 opportunity), and beyond the chance to play with Paizo crew (or select GMs), it would be a class on improving our abilities to GM and promote PFS play.

And they could send Vic. He doesn't do anything beside browse the messgeboards all day. ;)

And I meant to post this earlier. My wife, here and here, is very sneaky. Chances are you didn't make your perception check. Did you notice anything else missing from your office? Underwear perhaps?

And that is Awesome, I was going to start a thread suggesting this, but now I don't have to!

Luckily When I move back to the states in May, I will have a lot more chances to promote Pathfinder!

I like it!

I had a similar idea I posted on enWorld awhile back. Though my idea was a convention just for GMs, but most people thought it wouldn't go over. You can read my idea here if you like.

I know Paizo has done a few seminars along the lines I discuss, but nothing full blown as an exclusive convention for GMs.

I think someone needs to invite Josh to be a guest of honour at Ropecon (see Ken Hite's comments here: http://princeofcairo.livejournal.com/tag/ropecon and Jonathan Tweet's here: http://www.jonathantweet.com/jotconropecon03.html paying particular attention to the afterparty...)

To paraphrase Ms Stevens from another post, "I so don't need that image in head right now" ^_^

One word: Zombies ^_^

On a more serious note, y'all got to hit Comic Con. The PFS' pretty strong down in San Diego. Especially Osirions, which is weird ^_^

I am all for the idea. Then again I live in between to cities (Boston and NYC)that both have large PFS groups.

Paizo Employee CEO

Lisa doesn't like to travel. Seriously. I have a pretty bad case of claustrophobia, so those coach seats in airplanes get me all tightly wound. Now, if somebody would get me first class tickets... :)

I tend to only travel a couple of times per year and one of those is GenCon. So there is almost zero chance of seeing me at one of these events. But the idea is a cool one, but probably one where we would use regional coordinators. Sending employees out is really, really expensive. Now if we could get Josh to sleep in his car and eat popcorn for each of his meals...

Could you just make that rule anyway? He'd love it. Well, I'd love it at least.
