Wowser.

I just got home from my COMIC BOOK STORE. They stopped buying 3.x stuff that wasn't D&D, Green Ronin, Star Wars, or Conan very early on. What do I find today? Not only have they stocked PF25, but they have a couple copies of the Core Rulebook AND a bunch of third party compatible product on the shelf! Just wowser.

It does solve all of your concerns about traceability, and fraud though....

For us, traceability means we need to be able to identify the purchaser, and not just the store. But Catalyst's set-up—or at least, they way we'd implement our version of it—would take care of that issue. First, we need to see if retailers will bite on that.

There is nothing like thumbing through a new copy of a book your eager to look at, and decide if your really interested in buying it. I first saw Pathfinder in my FLGS with ROTRL. I was in limbo when 4.0 came out Still loving 3.5 and disappointed in WOTC and thier blatant fleecing.

My FLGS in SLC,(Hasturs) carries almost everything you could want in a game store, from boardgames to minitures, D&D MINI's, all trading cards, warhammer, paints, Gurps, Hero's, Battletech, Comics,DND 4.0, Pathfinder, Game Mastery, Clicks,,swords, dice, Plush Chuthulu, toys, Holy Hand Granade of Antioch. 20 computers with gaming time rentals. Fun employies who know games. Gaming tables for card tournaments, and RPG's. They deversify and thier store is always full of people asking questions, and talking shop, and BUYING STUFF. They deversify and cover every aspect of the gaming world.

When PFRPG core hit the store they bought 44 copies that were sold out in a few days. That shows that if you stock it they will buy. I could have bought it from Amazon but I want them to stay in business so I can keep looking at thier books. Checking out thier reaper mini's on the wall, talking with other gamers. I have watched the Pathfinder section go from a 4 foot section on 2 shelves to a whole shelf, Nearly as large as the 4.0 section. So that is cool that people in my area are embracing Pathfinder.

I feel lucky that I can go and put my hands on the books, sit and read it if I feal like it. I end up getting the things I really like, and don't have to feal like I am getting shipped things I might not care for. It didn't happen overnight, the growth of the PF section, I mean but if the game store does stock some items, people will check it out!
