Well, to be fair, I don't think its going to affect the actual comic lines, but I do think that this doesn't bode well for some of the lesser known Marvel movie properties or the Avengers movie.
That depends.
Disney can make really good movies. So, I don't see how this will harm any of the movie franchises.
And, as I said earlier, almost anything that Disney could do would likely be an improvement.

Oh, how exciting! More complaining and griping on the internet! What's next, are we going to whine impotently about the Banks Too Big To Fail being bigger now than before the crisis? :P
Yeah, if I remember correctly banks were too big to fail prior to Crisis on Infinite Earths, but post-COIE they were taken over by newer younger legacy banks. Does anyone know if they fixed this in Final Crisis?

Over here in the UK, Disney seem to have launched a new channel that seems aimed at the young boys of the world (full of 'cool' gaming things, skateboarding and the like). Having a collection of new Marvel cartoons on such a channel would help a lot, I'd think. Maybe that's what Disney is thinking? They've long held the minds of young girls, so now it's young boys they are after?
In an economic sense, of course.
Disney has been trying for years to get the young male demographic as the girls are locked up with the Princess stuff. I remember reading about what a spectacular failure they had in the late 90's when they released boy-oriented movies like Atlantis and Treasure Planet. They did so poorly that they killed 2-D animation movies for quite a few years. So this is another attempt to get those pesky kids to watch their stuff, I imagine it will have much more success.

He must be. Surely, no one could say such a thing seriously, could they?

Actually, I think it works out better for some of the lesser known properties. Disney is going to milk this for all they can. In fact, my guess is that since Disney is going to want to make the most money they can off of this, the biggest group of people who should be worrying are the other comic companies. My guess would be tht Disney is going to make their most talented people offers that they cannot refuse.
However, it is quite possible Marvel may actually end up losing many of their artists because of this deal. Disney does not allow the artists that work for them to keep their original artwork, unlike comic companies where this has become the standard. Many artists make a good amount of money from selling their original artwork. If Disney makes an exception for Marvel artists and allow them to keep their art, this may cause problems with the artists that work in other divisions of Disney. If they do not make an exception, many artists may leave when their current contracts are up. It's going to be interesting to see which way Disney goes.
