Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

"I agree. We should not leave anything behind which may surprise us."

"Very well, I do not enjoy this." Ulven steels himself and begins to hum a tune under his breath. Halfway in, his form shifts and shrinks down to a diminutive halfling. Once changed, he looks at Mouse and nods toward one of the holes, moving sideways into it. As he goes, he hums a light song and a his belt buckle begins to glow.

Marcus

Spoiler:
The passage beyond the coffin chamber ends in a cave-in. Rubble is piled from floor to ceiling, although there are a few small gaps near the top of the pile, about 1-2' across.

Ulven

Spoiler:
After a short while the passage you have squeezed into gets to narrow to navigate, even for one of your small stature. You presume that these small passages must be natural fissures into the rock, possibly used by rats or other vermin.

Male Human Rogue/7

Marcus points to the passage before him. "The way has caved-in." He looks to some gaps at the top of the rubble. "Anyone think we could fit through those?"

He walks towards the cave-in.

Ulven will continue exploring tunnels until all are explored that he can fit down.

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

"I am the largest here and I do not like at all this cramped space. I can fight with smallclaw if needs be, but I would prefer to scatter the darkness with my trusty dreadclaw", rumbles Litorian.

Liberty's Edge

"What caused this cave in, I wonder?"

Perception 1d20=2

Staring at the jumble of rocks gives Joneth a migraine.

LOL!

Ulven

Spoiler:
After a quick search you find nothing of any note.

Ulven returns to the center chamber, dusty and covered in cobwebs. He sneezes once, then returns to his normal size and shape. "By the Hairy Balls of the Frost Giant Jarl, that was a dusty set of cracks! Reminds me of a joke about the Chieftain's Mother in law!"

Male Human 4 Wizard

Dartalis laughs at Ulven's words. "I'm not sure I want to know about that one. It's good these tunnels are clear though."

Ha Ha! Brilliant!

Liberty's Edge

"Well, it looks like there's only one way forward."

Joneth moves rubble away, trying to enlarge the opening through the cave-in.

Leary of falling rock, Marcus stays in the door-way. He does however pull his sunrod out of his pack and hold it out to give Joneth some more light.

After a good couple of hours work, you manage to clear a way big enough to crawl through, near the top of the pile.

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

"There shouldn't be any traps beyond the rubble. I will go first, in case there are any unliving abominations waiting for us."

Liberty's Edge

"Take care, noble tiger."

Female Human (Sarcosan) Fighter 2/ Chaneller 3

"He always does"

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

"I shall. Thank you, friend." Num-Rah readies himself and starts to climb.

Num-Rah manages a gentle climb to the top of the rubble pile, several small pebbles rolling down the slope as he ascends. About 10' up he reaches the narrow hole that has been made.

Num-Rah

Spoiler:
With the light that your comrades carry with them as well as your own keen vision, you can make out the chamber beyond. You can see an ornate coffin, not yet stripped of its finery. The silver edging glimmer and it appears that the wood of the casket is of fine quality. You can see no other exits from this room though.

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

Num-Rah goes back, and then approaches the paladin. "There is a coffin there. Go up and take a look. Try to sense any evil, so that we can prepare ourselves. Than I shall go to spit Orcus in the eye." Litorian grins, showing huge fangs.

"It is good to be brave, my feline friend, but not to be foolish. At least be sure the rest of us are with you when you go to spit at Orcus.'

"He shouldn't be using undead like this anyway..."

Marcus mutters to himself, as he slides his sword back into its scabbard. "Rain. . .stink. . .and now dirt. Orcus owes me a new outfit."

He walks over and stares up at the hole.

Liberty's Edge

"That I shall go do, Lord Tiger."

Joneth climbs into the hole ...

Spoiler:
... and approaches the coffin with his sword drawn. He tries to sense the presence of evil in the coffin or the room in general.

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

Num-Rah follows the knight, sword drawn and battle cry ready on his lips.

"Here we go." Marcus follows the others. . .starting to wish he had stayed home.

"Aye, an adventurer's life is never boring!" As Ulven follows.

The Exchange

Humming softly, Koryn follows with hs morningstar ready.

Joneth

Spoiler:
Although there is an overiding feeling of evil within the area, you do get a sense of calm in the vicinity of the coffin.

Liberty's Edge

"This coffin is untainted by the evil of these warrens," pronounces Joneth. "I cannot bring myself to find out what is inside. But I will not oppose anyone who wants do so themselves."

Male Human 4 Wizard

"Well spoken, Sir Joneth. I think I would like to take a closer look before we move on."

Dartalis walks around the coffin, examining the details, looking for any words written in a language he knows.

Languages known: Abyssal, Auran, Common, Ignan, Infernal, Undercommon

While Daralis walks around the coffin, Marcus checks for any traps or secreted openings.

search +9 = 27. . .I love that I'm burning all my good rolls. I hope you all realize as soon as the first fight begins, its going to be all single digits for me.

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

"Leave it be", says the Litorian. "It is enough that in this cloaka of evil still exists a touch of goodness. Why must we desecrate it?"

Male Human 4 Wizard

"I have no intention of desecrating this tomb, good Litorian," says Dartalis. "But I must learn what is here and why it is not affected by the taint in this place. Perhaps that knowledge can help us."

Dartalis raises an eyebrow as he adds, "It may also be that the sleeper resting in this place would want us to use whatever remains here to rid this place of that taint, for if its strength fails, the sleeper here could one day succomb to evil as well. It would be a worthy use of whatever remains here and may give eternal peace to the sleeper."

"Desecrate may be a bit harsh. How are we to learn about are past without study?" Marcus smiles at Num-Rah, then adds quietly, "And if we can make a little coin while doing it. . .all the better." He continues to search the coffin and the area.

I assume the roll I made is still active, unless I hear differently from Dark

"This place is already unholy. It's desecretion would only help Orcus, it would be better to come back with many priests to consecrate the site."

"Truly it would take an army of priests to cleanse this place. We will be respectful of the dead, but they are dead! Their spirits have fled to join their ancestors. They reside here no longer. Let us honor their lives by seeing what it held!"

Male Human 4 Wizard

"Well said, Maestro Ulven."

Spoiler:
You detect no traps or secret openings. It seems to be a standard run of the mill coffin.

Heaving the lid open, you reveal the interior of the casket. The coffin appears to just contain a moldering and dusty old skeleton. It seems to once have worn garments of some finery.
