"This place... it makes me feel sick. Every spell I cast leaves an empty feeling in me, like I'm being cut off from Life itself. I say we find a way to destroy this place when we are done here."

Male Human 4 Wizard

"I like that idea, very much."

Female Human (Sarcosan) Fighter 2/ Chaneller 3

"Do you guys always complain this much?"

Ilona's previously sultry voice carries a raspy feral undertone

"I know there is supposed to be much evil in this place, but I am not seeing it! Perhaps if we were to go deeper? I hear evil likes the deeper places!"

"Trust me, we have already battled an skeleton. It moved as if still alive. Fortunately, we managed to avoid any harm."

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

"Well, Orcus is Demon Prince of the Undead, after all. Don't worry, it will get worse."

The stench seems to have lessened now, although it is still far from pleasent.

The hole leading down beckons...

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

"Come, let us descend. The stench has lessened, and I grow weary with all this talk. Will you take the front, friend Mouse?"

"Welcome to the group," Marcus says with a smile. Walking to the hole, he pulls a sunrod from his pack. He taps the rod against the floor until it lights. After positioning the rod in his pack so it sticks out and provides him with some light, he sits on the edge of the hole, takes the rope in his hand, and begins to climb down.

spot check +7 = 19, - anything for lighting conditions

The circular shaft descends 30 feet below the floor of the mausoleum above to a dirt-floored hallway. As you reach the bottom of the shaft your light reveals some blood stains and smears on the walls of the hallway, which is made of roughly worked stone, including one rather recent large hand smear of blood on the north wall.
The passage leads to the east and comes to a dead end some 100 feet later. At the end of the passage is an obvious ten-foot deep 5 ft. by 5
ft. pit. There is another rope pegged into the wall that descends into this pit.

[occ] Please let me have an order of descent for everyone[/ooc]

Marcus draws his sword and moves towards the next rope, searching for traps as he goes. search +9 = 21

if all is clear

Assured that the way is clear, he returns to the rope, watching as the others make their way down.

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

Num-Rah grabs the rope and quickly descends, drawing his sword the moment his feat touched the ground. "Friend Mouse, are you alright?"

Num-Rah wrote:

"I am fine." Marcus motions with his sunrod, that he now holds. "There is another rope down, just ahead."

Ulven will come down last to guard Ilona's rear.

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

"Do you want to go ahead, or should I? Anyway, I think that we should wait for the rest of the pride."

Liberty's Edge

The paladin makes sure to climb down immediately after the tiger-man. To go down in the back of the group would be conduct unbecoming a knight of Pelor.

Male Human 4 Wizard

Dartalis follows Joneth. Stopping at the bottom, he allows his eyes to adjust to the dim light and pulls out his everburning torch.

Female Human (Sarcosan) Fighter 2/ Chaneller 3

Ilona will stay close to the spell caster. In her experience they have the most trouble staying alive.

Just waiting for Dark before I move on

At the bottom of the second pit you can make out what appears to be a poorly hidden man-sized door. The door begins 3 feet off the ground from the floor of the 10' deep pit and seems to open by use of a small knob on the bottom of the door.

"What the . . . ?" Marcus walks over and searches, as well as he can, for anything unusual on the already unusual door.

Marcus

Spoiler:
A quick search reveals nothing that bothers you.

Marcus slowly turns the knobat the bottom of the door.

The door lift up and you see that a passage way stretches ahead of you, made of roughly worked stone, bending slightly to the right. About 10' down it, another passage leads off it to the left. The floor is uneven and covered in bits of rock and dust. The air is once again absolutely foul, as if you had set up camp in the cess pit below the latrines of the Saucy Nymph inn in Bards Gate.

Everyone entering make a Fortitude roll - DC10

So far so good! Everyone has saved! Just Illona and Ulven to roll.

As the scent assaults her heightened senses Ilona snarls in disgust, almost overwhelmed by the stink 1d20+3=10

You all are nearly overwhelmed by the stench, some of you almost brought to your knees, before you manage to get your heaving stomachs under control.

Marcus, after securing his sunrod back in his pack, draws his sword and slowly eases down the passage, keeping his eyes open for any traps.

if nothing happens, Marcus will continue down the passage that leads off to the left

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

Num-Rah follows. Assuming there is enough room, he draws dreadclaw. If not, smallclaw.

"Look, fanged one! What a wonderful smell we've discovered!" Ulven brings up the rear, keeping his sword out and ready.

Koryn calls back to him.

"Ha, I think you'll be a good ally! It is quite a feat to have a sense of humor in a place such as this!"

Male Human 4 Wizard

"Or perhaps his nose is damaged from too many bar brawls."

Dartalis wrote:

"Bar brawls? I do not fight in bar brawls! I START bar brawls, then sleep with the brawlers' women while they fight! I have style, you see!"

Liberty's Edge

"Oh my, how polite," mutters Joneth, already irritable from the oppressive stench and darkness.

The Exchange

Koryn chuckles softly as he listens to the conversation. Mostly to himself he says,
"Ah, these new allies seem to bring out our comments with ease, be they in jest or no. This adventure may not be as dreary as I had thought."

The passageway branches away to the left and travels for around 50'. Several small tunnels branch off it, most of them being less than 1' wide. Eventually the passage opens out into a small room. On the
far end, near an archway leading to a passage beyond, rests a coffin without a lid. Bits of broken wood are scattered around the floor.

"Do we have any interest in exploring the small passages here? I have a song that allows me to change my form into something a bit smaller, a halfling say. Would it do me any good to check them out?"

The Exchange

Koryn slowly walks forward, making his way toward the coffin with his morningstar ready, and looks into it...

Female Human (Sarcosan) Fighter 2/ Chaneller 3

"Heh, I take it that's not the song you use to impress the ladies"

Koryn Darklight wrote:

Koryn

Spoiler:
Inside the coffin, you find nothing. It would seem that looters have been here before.
The Exchange

"Some poor fool seems to have raided this place. I fear we may see said fool soon... as one of Orcus' undead minions."

Marcus makes his archway, passing the coffin, using the the dimmed light of his sunrod to see what lies ahead.

"If you go down any of the side tunnels, I will go with you," Marcus says to Ulven, not taking his eyes off the passage before him.

Male Human 4 Wizard

Dartalis looks at the side tunnels then to Ulven and Marcus. "It might be wise to make sure those tunnels are clear before we move further. We wouldn't want anything creeping up behind us."

Female Human (Sarcosan) Fighter 2/ Chaneller 3

"Good tactics."
