A great update but I've spotted a few bugs:
1) Monk Wis bonus should't add to flat-footed AC (only to normal and touch ACs).
2) The Monk AC bonus is adding to all classes, rather than just the monk.
3) Paladin channel energy level should be 0 until 4th level - at the moment it shows the paladin level at levels 1-3.
4) CMD should be formatted without the + as it's a DC not a modifier.
I've tested with a number of class/race combinations and those are all I've found so far.
Keep up the great work!

Thanks. I've corrected the Wis bonus adding to all classes. For the Monk AC bonus, it actually is supposed to appy to flat-footed AC. He only loses it when immobilized, wearing armor/shield, or carry more than a Light load.
The CMD display will be an easy fix, and I'll set an exception in the channel energy formula.
Thanks!

Yep, my bad. I've just checked the rules again and you are correct about the monk Wis bonus.

Just noticed I hadn't included the Bloodline Arcana in the sorcerer class ability summary. Fixed.
I also cleaned up the feat and trait summary displays a bit--they're not automated but they do at least (for the most part) display okay on the Back tab.
OK, 1 more issue that I've found. I created a 1st-level half-orc fighter with 7 Int. The skills table showed 0 skill points. It should be capped at a minimum of 1 per level.

Personally I don't think there is enough space for weapons, nor do I think it makes sense to reserve certain weapon slots for certain types of weapons.
I created a first level monk, who's staring attacks are unarmed, kama (for tripping), sai (for disarming), shuriken (for short range attacks), and light crossbow (for long range attacks).
That's 3 melee weapons, a thrown weapon and a ranged weapon. To get everything on the sheet, I have to combine the kama and sai into one entry. That'll be fine up until the point where I acquire a masterwork or magic version of one of those weapons.
I used to use HeroForge for my 3.5 character sheet. It allowed 6 weapons of any sort to be entered. That seems sufficient. Is there a way you can manage to add two more weapon slots? Maybe move armor and shield to the back page.

I like to keep the weapons and armor on the front page as it's been helpful for reminding my group of features they might otherwise forget in play. The size of each is also intentional. To be clear, I don't intend that folks be locked into the weapon designations as they are on the sheet--those that aren't needed can be deleted/replaced with the other formulas. For my monks, for instance, I remove the armor and shield entries entirely and replace it with weapons. This is part of my goal for making the sheet modular and changeable as needed. The cells are locked, however, so folks that don't realize they can unlock the sheet and make those changes may be confused.
I'll think on this more to see what better solution might be found...

For all my loyal play-testers, I thank you. The weapon suggestion turned into a very good "rethink your assumptions" process for me and I've now revamped the weapons and armor to provide more flexibility (and also squeezed in a 6th weapon entry). Check it out and let me know what you think. This version, of course, also incorporates all bug fixes to date. I'm going to keep this one out for testing another day or two and then present it up to the Pathfinder DB as my next version, so all feedback in that time period is appreciated! Anything afterward will be incorporated into the "big feat automation" version.

Hi,
great work.
Maybe you can add some Macros, which will alter the Skill list based on the class you choose. If you take a Bard for example, you get more perform skills (five or six) and less profesions.
And a Macro which will extend the place for weapons if you choose the fighter class.
Thanks! I obviously enjoy the project, but I enjoy folks helping out with comments and suggestions even more!
I've considered macros, but haven't gone that route for simplicity's sake, really. As I want this sheet to stay in a state fairly easy for someone with Excel, etc. to dissect and modularize as needed, macros complicate that factor. They can also add to the overall size of the sheet, which is something I'm trying to keep down. A final aspect is compatibility, as I'm trying to keep the sheet working well with older version of Excel, with OpenOffice, on Mac/Linux, etc. and macros can complicate this aspect as well.
Now, with that said I won't say I'm adamantly against the idea. If, for instance, someone came up with a version of the sheet that had a nifty macro in place and, after testing, the above concerns weren't impacted then I'd definitely integrate the functionality. This also reminds me why I had concerns with putting in the General and Trained only headings for the skills--I generally carve up the skill list to only show what's relevant to a character, then fill up the rest of the space with more lines in the Special Notes section...

One future request I'd like to see is more support for Pathfinder Society characters.
An easy addition would be to have a new XP Progression Choice for Pathfinder Society which would change the XP table (Pathfinder Society award 1 XP per scenario and you level every 3 XP gained), so the XP needed is simply 3 * Current Level.
A more ambitious project is to filter out (traits, feats, etc) what is not legal for the Pathfinder Society campaign.

That is a good idea, and probably wouldn't be too hard to work out. I'll see if I can get that one into v.0.6 before it goes out. I already have the Faction traits in place. Is there any other PFS-specific items that would be useful?
When you select the feat Toughness, the feat description displayed is for the Tower Shield Proficiency feat.
Dang. Looks like at some point a sort didn't extend to the outlying fields so now a lot of them are out of whack...Definitely need to fix that for v.0.6.

First off, I'd like to say I'm already loving the sheet! Great work! I have a suggestion though.
I'd prefer to have the feat descriptions on the character sheet to show the mechanics of the feat. For example: Combat Casting says, "You are adept at spellcasting when threatened or distracted." That doesn't do me much good in game because I still have to look up the mechanics of the feat. The text "+4 bonus on concentration checks for defensive casting." is much more helpful, I believe.
Well, thanks for the great work! Good luck on the project!

Thanks, glad you like it!
For the feats, that's exactly what v.0.7 will do (and then some). I had the mechanics summary displaying at one point, but since I don't have those yet for any of the Golarion feats I switched it to the description summary. I can switch it back for now (knowing that all Golarion feats will then display nothing) until a v.0.7 update?
Some history and a look forwarad...
- V.0.5 was the starting point, with basic functionality from the home game sheet I've been using for years.
- V.0.6 is going to be the culmination of play-testing to date on all the class automation (most of the previous 4 pages of this thread).
- V.0.7 will build on that, not only updating the information displayed for each feat but also automating game mechanics as much as possible (adding Power Attack and Two-Weapon Fighting "switches" to weapons, auto-updating Channel Energy based on feat selection, etc.).

Erian,
I appreaciate the work you have but in to it. This is looking to be one nice character sheet.
I did notice one small error when looking it over. You have the head and headband slots combined into one magic item slot. According to the Pathfinder rulebook, they are seperate slots now (they were one slot in 3.5).

Erian,
Speaking of breaking assumptions. I currently have a 3.5 character that needs to be converted to Pathfinder. He's a Barbarian 2/Fighter 2/Sorcerer 1/Dragon Disciple 4, but your sheet only allows for 3 classes, whereas I need 4.
Maybe get rid of the graphic and add more classes would be an option?

There's no such thing in OpenOffice. There doesn't seem to be anything that does that.
BTW, the list of feats in the selects on the back sheet would be easier to use if it was in alphabetical order. Also, when I select "no" for the Golarion feats, they still get listed.

This is a excellent work. I loved my heroforge and have been looking for a Good data sheet for awhile. I discovered this a few weeks back and am amazed how far it has come.
A few comments.
I also thing being able to list more than three classes is a must.
Why does the green strip really need to be on First page? doesnt it just take up room?
When taking protection domain for cleric. The resistance bonus granted is only given to Fortitude and not all three saves.
Love the sheets though. Its great.

I did a quick search and found a suggestion:
Format (main menu) > Page > Sheet (tab)
At the bottom of the dialog, "Scaling Mode" option, you can select: "Fit Print Ranges to Width/Height" and the set (for example): Width=1 Page, Height=1 Page.
Finally you can verify this doing
File > Page Preview
From what I've read, this requires Open Office Calc 2.4.

Hey all, it seems I forgot to post a note here before heading out on a retreat this weekend. I posted v.0.6 to the Pathfinder DB on Friday and it covers some of the items mentioned:
Pathfinder Character Excelerator v.0.6 at the Pathfinder Database

Ahh, hadn't noticed that. They've also switched a few items around (mantles and vestments for instance). Fixed for v.0.6.1
Erian,
I've spotted one more error. You have the dice for the cleric channel energy ability coded as 1+FLOOR(level/2). This works for odd-numbered levels but not for even-numbered. I think the calculation should be FLOOR((1+level)/2).
I'm not sure what you mean for this one? At even levels, there is no increase. The formula--1+FLOOR((Turning_Level-1)/2,1)--would thus give a 1d6 at 1st level, 2d6 at 3rd, etc.
erian_7 wrote:Nifty, but I can't get it to print right. By default it now wants to print on 4 pages. If I resize the output, either the bottom of the sheet gets clipped, or the green stuff on the right gets printed too. I had no problems with 0.3.
The Print Area was luckily noted as an issue before I posted v.0.6 to the DB, so it's fixed in the current version.

This one is not an assumption so much as how my home game works--no more than 2 core and 1 prestige class. Any concept that can't be covered by this, I make a custom class for the player. I'll think on some ways to expand this a bit.
For hit point option 1, the hit points for additional classes beyond the first are not calculated correctly. It is maximizing the first hit die gained in each class, but it should only do it for the first class.
Yep, looks like I copied the formula over from Class_1. Fixed.
BTW, the list of feats in the selects on the back sheet would be easier to use if it was in alphabetical order. Also, when I select "no" for the Golarion feats, they still get listed.
Great minds and all that! I alphabetized these for the current v.0.6 release, so you're good to go there. For the Campaign feats, I've corrected that for the next version.
This is a excellent work. I loved my heroforge and have been looking for a Good data sheet for awhile. I discovered this a few weeks back and am amazed how far it has come.

When taking protection domain for cleric. The resistance bonus granted is only given to Fortitude and not all three saves.
Love the sheets though. Its great.
The Front page is my attempt at keeping this sheet simple and as focused as possible on being a "character sheet" versus a "character generator." I have considered moving that information to the Character Options page, even putting out some test versions built that way before settling on the current approach. Note that generally the strip should not be printing (fixed with the Print Area problem). This said, I'm not opposed to other options, so do let me know any ideas in this area.
For the Protection domain, that was actually me experimenting with how to implement that class ability and then I forgot to complete it for v.0.5.8. I did find and correct this before posting v.0.6 so you're good to go.
Hello erian_7, love what I've seen so far, are you still looking for beta testers? Or is the release 0.5.8.1 the beta? :)

I'm always open for more testers! I basically start from whatever the released version is (v.0.6 at this time) and put out iterative updates that add/change functionality and correct any errors. Folks are welcome to test any and all versions, then post any findings here.
And on that note, thanks again to all my current and future testers!

Every time it is better!
I saw something to take a look, though.
When a wizard is selected, the class abilities like cantrips, arcane duelist and spellbooks don't fit in the page.
Hmm, do you mean on the Abilities & Feats tab? The Wizard seems to be displaying properly for me. Are you doing anything specific--multiclassing, etc.--that I need to consider?

Yes, in this tab. No, it is a normal wizard with only the alternate class ability... I am using Office 2003, if it is important to know...

1+FLOOR((Turning_Level-1)/2,1) and FLOOR((Turning_Level+1)/2,1) should give the same results. When I looked at the forumula you had in v0_5_8_1, though, it was 1+FLOOR(Turning_Level/2,1). As a result, it was giving a 10th level cleric 6d6 instead of 5d6.
Version 0.6 has the same problem. It displays OK on the front sheet, but the text on the Abilities and Feats tab is 1d6 higher for when the turning level is even.

That means the text is not wrapping properly, which is odd if it only happens with the Wizard. Can you try out other classes? It definitely wraps properly on mine. For all other Office 2003 users, is it wrapping properly?

It is happening with the wizard, the bard, the cleric and the paladin.
With the Monk and Ranger is even worse... It shows a #Valor!

For the Monk, have you specified a race (otherwise the Unarmed Strike can't tell what Size to use for damage)?
For the Ranger, if 3rd level or higher have you specified a Favored Terrain?

A human fighter(6)/monk(2) runs out of feat boxes on the back sheet.
Did you select the fighter and monk bonus feats on the Character Options tab? They would go there rather than the general feat selection area. Note this is subject to change as I work out the feat automation, so suggestions are welcome!
