Looks like the APG is here! I am so looking forward to more of your wonderful work!

Found another glitch.

When you select Weapon Focus [Shortbow] or Weapon Focus [Longbow], the Landscape page is not adding the +1 to the damage done. Same problem occurs with Weapon Specialization, Greater Weapon Focus and Greater Weapon Specialization.

Assuming you meant +1 to attack rolls for weapon focus, it seems that all of the above feats populate properly for a normal shortbow/longbow, but don't seem to be populating for a composite shortbow/longbow, at least on my end.

That's correct. Sorry for the confusion - was writing at 3 AM after a long game session.

I've got the APG PDF "in hand" as we speak and there's some sweet stuff in there! I'm going to focus first on updating the existing material--classes,feats, traits, etc. I'll hold off on the new stuff until after that to give the GenCon folks time to get their copies...

With this, I'm also going to finalize a v.0.9 release so the magic item stuff can get out to the Pathfinder DB for general consumption. It means the unslotted items aren't implemented yet, but I think it's worth it to have the slotted items out for use. I'll fix the currently reported bugs, cut a v.0.9 file, then start the APG stuff from there.

Boggle? how pray tell does one have access to such a wondrous piece of the firmament two weeks ahead of its release?

I'm a subscriber, and so get the PDFs as soon as they bill my card for shipping the products...yes, it's a nice perk!

Okay folks, here's v.0.9...now on to the APG!

I'm having an issue with 0.9 and versions going back until 0.8.9 (that is 0.8.9 was the last known working version) with armour weight screwing all the weight, ACP and encumbrance related things up. If I just write in the weight it works, but I don't have the tools to figure out what broke. (if it helps I'm on Open Office.)

RtrnofdMax wrote:

Hmm, that's no good. I did a full removal of formats on all sheets except the L and P sheets (which of course have the most formatting). I'll see what I can do with a 9.1 pass...

Yeah, I had to uninstall my copy of OO, so haven't been able to cross check things in that app. I'll see if I can get it installed again and uncover the problem...

For my Excel 2003 users, can you please check the following file:

PRPG_CS_v_0_9p1.zip

The only change in this is I have run it through a processor this fellow wrote that is supposed to clean up format issues. I reduced the file size by over half a MB, so I'm hopeful it has fixed the "too many cell formats" problem. If not, I've found a retail product (XLSGEN Style Reduction) that claims to do the same thing--I'll just have to wait a bit until I've got the extra $40 to throw at the app.

erian_7 wrote:

Still throws the too many formats error.

Zo

Okay, 2nd shot at it...

PRPG_CS_v_0_9p2.zip

Sovereign Court

It still blows up with p2. No worries though. 8.10 is still a very good release and perfectly functional for my needs.

I get the same error as DigMarx but I am using 2000 so that is probably my biggest problem.

Dang....

Okay, I'm going to take one more shot at it, rebuilding each sheet to the Normal font setting and also eliminating the 80% Gray color. If that doesn't work, I'll likely have to wait until I can get access to that XLS Style Reduction Tool.

Last try. I've normalized all the fonts and eliminated the 80% gray...

We have a winner, at least for Excel 2003.

Yay! I'll get a quick update to the Pathfinder DB so as not to confuse folks...

The v.0.9 link now points to this corrected file.

The error I get when I try to manually delete one of the magic item entries is:

"The value you have entered is not valid.
A user has restricted values that can be entered into this cell."

Hmm, it looks like the cells are protected--I had been testing with the sheet unlocked and so didn't catch the issue. I have now marked the cells as unprotected and things look like they're working well.

And as a note, I just got my "your APG will be shipping shortly" message, so should have the PDF in hand soon!

It seems this problem is back with the newest version.

The Exchange

This is a roundabout solution to a few minor problems but it does seem to work:

If you are getting the "too many formats" error in Excel you can open the document as is in OpenOffice Calc and then save it exactly as the same type of document and the new save will open in Excel. I have found that this seems to also fix some formulas related to armor that weren't calculating right for me. ( I think there were wonking out due to cell size issues in Excel but I can't confirm)

I know both programs pretty well but without breaking out a magnifying glass and some spare time that I don't have ATM, I couldn't tell you what is being altered in the conversion only that it works and seems to leave the end product as it should.

Thought I would throw that out there for those that are desperate for the newest release of the sheet.

Sovereign Court

Do you need any data entry help for APG content? I don't want to take on a lot of responsibility, but I would like to help get an APG-ready sheet into my grubby little hands.

What the! Grumble, grumble. Okay, if you unprotect the sheet it should work fine. I think I'm just going to abandon protection altogether--if somebody fat-fingers a formula he'll just need to use a new file...

Boy do I! Today I finished up the traits and feats that were updates/inclusions from previous material. That does, however, leave a whole lot of new feats to enter. If you really want to help, I basically need the feats broken out into line items in a spreadsheet like this:

FEAT NAME...FEAT TYPE...PREREQS...BENEFIT...SPECIAL

With that as a starting point, I'd then just have to build the prereg formulas, summarize the benefits/special info, and stick it in the sheet.

I'll be working on the base class updates next, so having the feat data ready after I get that done would definitely speed things along.

Thanks!

I like what you are doing, great work!
Been playing around with v0_9 trying to add a magic item into the DataMagicItems sheet. I have gone through and fixed all the calcs for the item line, but when I put it in the character sheet, all the values come up as #N/A.
Just cannot work out where it is going wrong.

I can not download the character sheet. It says the page is empty. Is that correct or am i doing something wrong.

Thanks, glad you like it! For adding magic items, you first need to ensure you are inserting the item inside the defined table range. So long as you don't add the item before the first item on the list or after the last item on the list you'll be fine. Really, the easiest way to make sure you get this right is by copying an existing line item, then inserting that copied line into the table. This will replicate all the logic necessary to put the item into the dynamic list ranges. Once that's done, you can change the specifics of the item as needed. Setting the Slot appropriately will automatically put the item on the right list for the Back tab. If the item grants a specific bonus that falls under one of the data types I've already defined (e.g. +2 to Charisma) you can copy the formula and the bonus should automatically flow through the sheet appropriately.

If you still have problems, feel free to email the sheet (address is in my profile) and I'll take a look.

nope, even with a cleared cache it works fine. I'm on Firefox and it hits a Google sites download attachment redirect, with a "click here to download" link.

Is anyone else not able to download the file?

Customization tab, Equipment sub section: they have a black font on a black background.

Circlet of Persuasion is listed in the wrong item-slot group.

the first weapon block shows a +1 attack bonus by default (I assume that this wasn't cleared out before saving the master file).

Customization tab is protected (again, not a big deal)

Ah yes, the insert line and paste method made it work correctly, thanks. I had already worked out the Slot, Bonus and specific bonus columns, but my mistake was putting it below the bottom of the table. Despite having gone and changed the range of the calculations it still did not work untill I brought it up inside the table with an insert and paste.

L_Spells tab. The Arcane Armor Training Feat is not reflected in the Arcane Spell Failure box.

Sovereign Court

That's cuz it's activated as a swift action and isn't "always on".

Hmm, since I'm considering an upgrade for my PC, I'll probably upgrade to Excel 2007. Will probably soon need it at work anyways.

Otherwise, kudos.

Ah, you were hitting the older links--I did take those off line since v.0.9 is now stable for all versions. The latest file link can always be found in my profile. I'm going to start simply point there rather than posting specific file links here so as to avoid future confusion.

I'll be adding an area for this on the Customization tab to make single-item entry easier in the future. For mass entry, I'll have the range clearly marked for use so folks have a better idea of where to add things.

It is true that I wouldn't have this on the Spell tab as "always on" but would rather have a selector of some sort. However, the actual reason this isn't on there is because the Spell tabs have very little automation at this time...

The latest version is back to being compatible with earlier versions of Excel, but if you do upgrade that'll be one less bump in the road. For Excel 2007 users, note that you can save this in the 2007 standard format (XLX )and reduce the file size to around 1.5 MB.

Monday morning. Got half done on Friday but forgot to e-mail it to myself. Did the rest yesterday.

in v9.0, dodge doesn't calculate towards your animal companion's AC or CMD when you take the feat.

No worries on a rush! I'm not looking to release the new material until GenCon is over so as to not preempt Paizo...

Morikyri wrote:

Hmm, I'll check on that. Thanks!

Something odd happening in the AC section.
I noticed the Shield Bonus was not being added so I went and unequiped the shield and then the Dex Mod disappeared too. So.....
without shield = no Dex Mod applied to AC
with shield = Dex Mod applied but no Shield Bonus applied
(with Tower Shiled equiped, Dex Mod drops from 3 to 2 as it should, still no Shield Bonus)

Edit: Oh ok, just noticed that you MUST have shield listed as "None", if you just delete the shield (as I was) then the above happens. But there is still no Shield Bonus being shown.

General update--I've corrected all the issues reported to date (except one, see below) and have completed review of the overall stats for the new classes. Now I just need to tweak the individual class abilities and we'll be good to go for a release.

As an added bonus, I've finally put in some of the automation folks are looking for on the Spell tab(s). You can now select an available caster class and it will auto-populate the various fields for key ability, spells known/per day, etc. I even built in that selector for Arcane Armor feats...

I expect it'll be another day and then I'll have the next release out, at which time I'll shift to a GenCon release that will start including the new content (feats first, thanks to RtrnofdMax!).

On the issue I did not correct, regarding Animal Companions and Dodge I tested this and didn't find an issue. Can you give me some more details there?

sure. i'm pretty sure that i just used the first version of 9.0 you put out since i'm using excel 2007, and haven't had any of the issues. i'm not sure how much you need, so i'll just throw out a bunch of info. human 1 barbarian/5 druid. i have dodge, power attack, weapon focus and boon companion. the animal companion is a tiger. i gave it dodge, toughness, and weapon focus (bite).

i simulated this again by opening up a clean version of 9.0 with no character info added to it and just input stats, class levels, and feats. it still does the same thing. no dodge bonus gets added into the box in the AC or CMD, and the AC and CMD don't go up at all.

on another note, when i was putting the feats back in, i accidentally clicked improved natural attack (bite) instead of weapon focus (bite) and that didn't increase the tiger's bite from 1d6 to 1d8 in the ATTACKS box. not sure if it's supposed to or not, but i figured i'd mention it. same thing for claws with improved natural attack (claw)

Hmm, odd. I'll fiddle with it a bit more and see if I can find something.

As for the imp. natural attacks, I have not completed the work for that as yet. With the eidolon now final, I'm going to be working to finalize the overall companion/familiar options (yes, including the diabolist familiar...).
