The order's status has been "Shipping" for a couple of days now. Are those status up to date? Has it already been shipped without updating the status? Or is it still not out?
It says "shipping" because it's a subscription order, which means we can't give a specific day that the order will ship, but rather a block of time we expect it to ship within. "Shipping" in this case means that it may have already shipped, or it may still be waiting to ship and is expected to ship by tomorrow - we don't know for sure.

Hm... is it always like that? Or does the whole core book madness aggravate matters?
I remember that the status always got updated before I got my stuff. Or I think it did.
How fast will the status be updated this time? I heard from a couple of people that they got their books before their status ever changed. Can that happen? Can it stay on shipping for a week or so even after it was shipped?

There are some exceptions to this, but when it comes to subscriptions in general, we set the date by which we expect to have shipped all subscriptions and we show that date to everyone. That's also the date that status will update on your account.
The only reason that anything is different this time is that usually, all subs are processed over two or three days, but because of the staggered shipping this time, we're spreading them out over more than a week.
We record when the fulfillment process starts for each person, but it would slow the process tremendously if we had to record the exact completion time for each package, so we don't bother—since the process normally ends the same day or the next day, that gives us a good enough window for our needs. The window is a bit bigger this time, as I mentioned above, but I can nevertheless confirm that your order process completed—and your package was shipped—last week.

Thanks for the explanation - and the confirmation! I'd have settled for a "lack of an actual note of dispatch doesn't mean it hasn't been dispatched", but you went beyond with the service again and I'm grateful for that!
