Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead

It was a pretty good flick. I actually liked it better than the Next Doctor, although that was also pretty good. I liked the quasi-cliffhanger and the end, and I can't wait tp see The Waters of Mars. And rumor has it that Jack, Rose, Donna, Martha, Sarah jane, and The Master will all be back for the Christmas Special. Things seem to be looking up right now.

So you watched last night too!!!

I thought it was okay...but I haven't seen the "Next Doctor" at all. :(

Nope, I taped it and watched it after work.

Planet of the Dead seemed, to me, more like an oversized episode (with certain amounts of filler) than a Special. The only real twist was that he had to do everything without the TARDIS, but other than that? Not much in the way of fundamental change, or major revelations, or anything else (not-)earth-shattering. Yes, there was the "he will knock four times" bit at the end, but that's all we get? Foreshadowing?

Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy this episode. But I feel that it could have been trimmed down to regular episode length, and not much would have been lost. Of course, it did mean more shots of Lady Christina, which is just fine by me. Here's hoping we've not seen the last of her!

I generally agree. I expected it to be a bit more, well, directly on the path to the end.

Watched it on Tivo with a bunch of friends (good to cut out the ads). Had a lot of fun. Lady Christina was a stitch.
One of my friends had already seen it and was lukewarm but found it much more fun in a group. The responses and joking helps to ramp up the energy.

On the positive side, I got my Planet of the Dead Blu-ray disc today, along with the Torchwood: Children of Earth Blu-ray. Yay for the first Doctor Who story in HD!

On the negative side, the Blu-ray player I ordered hasn't shown up yet, so I can't watch them.

Oh yeah I am definately hoping for more of Lady Christina showing up in her flying (after she changes from that unbecoming bus) sports car... lol

I just wish she had of stuck around. I think she would have made a really excellnt companion. Oh well, here's hoping for her to join at a later date *fingers crossed*
